I've been playing it for the past couple days.

I'm almost at the 5th Temple. And it's really really good.
Way better than PH.

The main dungeon is really good, there's some excellent puzzles that revolve around co-oping with a Phantom, And you only have to do each section once (so no replaying each floor every time you come back)

To be honest, I prefer the boat to the train, but it's a good system still. there are a TON of side quests, and it's going to take a while to get 100%.

I also love that once you
At first I hated the "Insta-Kill" trains that are wandering around, but It adds a challenge when you're trying to get somewhere and you have to quickly switch tracks to avoid getting blown up, I don't mind them that much. And once you get more health on your train, they don't take away all your health (Just a significant amount, so they're still a big obstacle, but you can survive a collision)
And the music is awesome.

Edit: Quick bit I thought I'd add in.
I hate the Spirit Flute when you have to play 'non-ajoined' notes. like when you have to switch from Blue to Green (The flute goes Green-White-Blue, so it can be downright infuriating because it just doesn't work perfectly. I've had to redo Lokomo Song sections about 9 times because it just wouldn't pick it up properly)

Also the Train Upgrade system SUCKS.
In PH, you could find the parts, or buy them.
In Spirit Tracks, you an only trade treasure for parts, but Nintendo decided that to make it tough, certain treasures would be nearly impossible to find (Especially the 6+ of that treasure needed for some of the better train parts) And it seems each game gets a different rarity for each item (for example, I've been playing a TON, and haven't found a single Dark Pearl Loop in the entire game)
I HATE it, basically to complete the train collection 100%, you have to play for insanely long periods of time to grind the necessary amounts of treausres needed (Especiallly the rare treasures that almost never show up at all)

I never understood why the boat in PH even had parts upgrades. By the time I finished the game, I had maybe 4 spare parts. It seemed like a total inconvenience to collect them.

1) To add a sidequest, something to actually strive to obtain 100%
2) Asthetics, each ship set has a unique look (The Demon Ship, the Robotic Ship, and the best one was the Golden Ship)
3) To add health to the ship. The basic ship you start with has 4 hearts, completing a basic set gives it 7 hearts, the full Golden Ship has 8 hearts. And mixing and matching parts can give between 5 and 7 hearts with the right combinations.

I loved the ship customization in PH, it really was awesome to have all the different ship parts to play with in making a unique ship, plus it was really awesome to get that final ship piece (there were 64 in total) completing the set.
I personally loved that aspect, and I think the Train customization is neat (Each train set has its own unique whistle sound)
But I hate how much tougher they made getting new parts in ST (Although it adds to the length by a large amount)

Edit: Found a pic of the Golden Train in Spirit Tracks
It looks pretty cool., Thankfully the train only has 4 components (Over PH's 8 piece Ship sets) I really want to get the full gold set now.

Hrmm.. had I not been borrowing the game, I might have taken the time to collect all the parts... I don't recall how many hearts I had at the end, but I don't really remember feeling like I needed any more either... Maybe I got lucky and had a good combination of parts though?

The Lost Frontier wasn't hyped up to be the core targeted saviour of its platforms though Wink
I hated PH so, so, so much so I haven't decided if I want to risk money on ST yet.

Same.

Difficulty wise, is it harder? Is it a longer game?

I never liked the customizing anyway. Tongue_out Those Insta-Kill trains sound annoying, too.
New Peace Walker demo in English. IT IS SO GOOD. It's out on most PSNs, should be on the NA one by 7PM est.

A fair bit harder than PH, it's not extremely tough, but it's got a good challenge.

Length? I haven't finished it yet, but in the same amount of time I've been playing ST, I would have easily beaten PH. and I still have a bunch of things left to do in ST.

And I have to say, I've done all but 2 of the Force Gem side quest things (the 2 I haven't done can't be started until I beat the next temple) And doing those make me like the train much more than when I started.
Every Force Gem you collect adds more tracks to the map, so moving around the map becomes MUCH better when you get shortcuts and new routes, Add in the warp gates that open up and traveling around the world becomes a much more enjoyable experience.

If you're on the edge of purchasing this. just ask yourself:
Did you like PH's Stylus controls? If so, This game has the same controls.
Did you hate the Temple of The Ocean King? The Spirit Tower is SO much better.
Was PH too easy for you? This game is much more challenging.
Do you want a ton of sidequests? If so, this game will take a long time to 100% finish.
Well, I'm glad they made it harder and more lengthy. Sidequests are always a plus as well. I seriously considering getting it, but FF13 comes first. Tongue_out

Thx for answering my questions, btw. Joyful_2
does anyone else agree with me when I say Starcraft 2 should be left exactly the same as the first one except with better graphics and new campaign?
OMG insane PSN update. Final Fantasy VIII (I'm more a IX guy...), Beaterator (thank you Rock*Star for $20 price drop), Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars ($30, meant to get UMD, but never did), the Metal Gear Solid Digital Comics, and Ridge Racer PSP.

I can guarantee people still wont buy Chinatown Wars even at the discounted price.
I just got my first game over in Spirit Tracks.

The boss of the 5th temple is.... I can't even explain it without wanting to swear my head off.

I have 12 hearts, I went in with a potion, and theres a song that fully heals you ONE per dungeion.
I used the potion, I used the song, and I still got a game over.

And all because this game is too damn picky about how you hit it (well, I don't know that for sure, I fought the thing for 30 minutes and didn't find anything working.
I looked it up online and what I've been doing is correct, the game just... doesn't realize it?)
youre game need to pay attention lol
(Dec. 18, 2009  7:33 PM)bey tempest Wrote: [ -> ]youre game need to pay attention lol

Apparently.

Here's a rough summary of what I've tried doing
The red spot in front is the boss's weapon, he'll always try to face you with it.
There are catapults on all sides of him, that you have to load up and shoot his weakpoiint, now he's armored at all sides except for this portion on his back. (They grey area in the picture)

The arrows are all the angles I've taken the shot from, and nothing works, I swear this game is either glitched, or way too picky about what counts as a hit.

Edit: I'm going to go with glitched, because after leaving the temple to go buy potions from the nearest shop, I returned to the boss, got back to the point where I had died, and hit his weakpoint on the first try.
Apparently leaving the temple fixed my game.
Hey does any of you play Flyff?
Don't think I saw it mentioned on here yet.
but... to no surprise really.

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2
As the trailer (and end of the first game) seem to suggest, we're now going to roam the streets of Gotham, Totally psyched. I loved the first one.
Gasp
Awesome
And Streets of Gotham
Awesome
I Can't Wait!

I hope this is as good as the first one Pinching_eyes

EDIT: saw the trailer and well
I just knew Joker had a back-up plan lol
I saw this yesterday. Looks awesome. I expected the Joker to look more torn up tho
I'm in the third "Realm" of Sprit Tracks. So far, it's fun, VERY VERY mic-erful (Hooray for making up words!), and most of all, AWESOME. I recommend this GREATLY. (Puts hand up and puts other hand on the latest Guneiss Book of World Records Gamers Edition).
I played and completed Arkhan Asylum, it's a cool game. But it is heavily overrated imo. And those who nominate it for Game Of The Year probably only played a few games this year.
lol I wouldn't say Game of the Year loll Great Game but not game of the year
Kmart in the US is apparently selling Canadian copies of LittleBigPlanet, and Gran Turismo for $10 both the recently released PSP iterations. If you live near a Kmart, own a PSP (if you don't, buy one, lol) and don't go, I wouldn't say you're a genius.
