It's not like you buy a gamecube then complain it doesn't have motion controls and you can't play smash bros. brawl on it.

You do realize what I was complaining about, right? I was complaining that Nintendo is relasing a successor platform only two years after it launched another platform. Like heck, outside of some downloadable games, Nintendo themselves have yet to actually support the DSi. Don't you think it's just a bit premature to already be pulling out? The thing is selling in huge numbers, there's no reason to be doing this.

Also, the games should have a 2D mode, if they don't, then yay for headaches and eyestrain!
(Apr. 01, 2010  10:28 PM)To Wrote: [ -> ]Yeah this is not the same as those. iPhone first gen users can still buy games that iPhone 3GS users can. All GBAs shared the same software library. From the rumors going around, my DSi won't be able to play 3DS games.

Not strictly true on the iPhone front. A few games only run on a 3GS.

Except the DS was released in 2004. You're just referring to the date they released a slightly upgraded version with a low res camera, not the actual platform.

If you play games or use a computer for more than about an hour at a time already, say hello to headaches and eyestrain. >.>
The DSi has more than just some crummy cameras. The handheld has a better processor, and a slightly better gpu IIRC. Nintendo has yet to use any of this. The best comparison is the GameBoy Color, it was a slightly updated successor to the GameBoy Pocket. Thing is, it stayed on the market a full year longer than the DSi will (GBC lasted 3 years until GBA release, DSi will last 2 years until 3DS release), and Nintendo actually supported it with games that adequately used the extra hardware power. Where as with the DSi, they've done nothing of the sort, and are dropping it without even announcing a single big name DSi-enhanced, or DSi-Only retail game themselves.

And lol if you think the eyestrain from looking at regular screens is as frequent as it is with 3D.

Maybe that's because the change of extremely popular games into full colour graphics from black and white was a more drastic change than some extra processing power and a bad camera.

I feel bad for you buying this console in the hope the extra processing power would yield something amazing. But at the end of the day the DS has been out for ages and not many people really expected the DSi to be revolutionary.

It's kind of like crying that the PSP GO doesn't have amazing titles compared to the normal PSP. It's still a PSP.

Uh. The Go is actually just a PSP with Bluetooth connectivity, a hard-drive, no UMD drive, and a semi-in game XMB. It has no extra processing power, cameras, etc. The Go is a sort of DSlite. It's not the same as the DSi. There wouldn't be any reason for there to be Go-only titles because they'd run on a normal PSP with no issues at all, as they share the exact same chipset... Assuming there would be games that are only compatible on the Go, or Go-enhanced would be ignorance, where as assuming Nintendo would make DSi-enhanced, or DSi-only titles is just logic.

PSPGO has twice the RAM of the PSP1000
So does the 2000, and 3000 units. The extra ram is used for Skype, and TV-Out. Ram doesn't really help the games.
This is just something to think over about how little Nintendo seem to care about their advertising nowadays.

This is the current advertisment for Pokemon HG/SS in the UK:

And this is the original:

Kinda says something to me. And it isn't like Nintendo don't have the resources or money to do what they originally did.

Lol that is spot on flight!
I mean all the DS/Wii adverts are just some d list celebrity talking about some carp. Like oh Wii Fit is really good it help me lose one stone. WOOPDEEDO i don't care. Thats why Sony's commercials for America is soo awesome.
Last week, I ended up picking up a DSi XL for about $100 at EB. I wouldn't have picked it up at full price but I felt safe trading in some stuff to make it not hurt the wallet quite so much.

And wow, after giving it quite a thorough playing with for the past several days, all I can say is...

It's the best model of DS that Nintendo has ever released.

I honestly can't go back to the original DSi now, I swear it's been ruined for me.
The larger screens DO make a HUGE difference, games look so much brighter and clear. I know its the same resolution just blown up, but that honestly makes no difference.
Aside from a few games (3D games mind you) where some edges look wonky due to being able to see the pixels more defined, games just look better.
I tried Phoenix Wright, Fire Emblem, and a couple other games and they just looked better.

The wider viewing angle means that no matter how I look at the screens, I can see what's going on. And the large stylus is very comfortable.
The bottom of the system is now 'textured' so it has a really solid grip, and the buttons all feel very solid as well. It also helps that the battery life is longer than the DSi's.

Overall, if the 3DS doesn't have screens as large as the XL, then it's basically assured that I will be using the XL for a long time to play my DS games, I think it's a better overall experience.

It honestly DID seem like a quick cash-in. And maybe it kind of is. But I like it the most out of every DS I've played.
This is a pretty awesome theme for 2010's Game Of The Year.
Wow. maybe the XL is worth it. My DSi is from the first day it was released, and it sure looks like it. And over the Summer last year I put it in my backpack and the condensation from my water bottle got it wet. I swear it barely lives four-and-a-half hours now.

A couple of hours ago, the Japanese Pokemon website was updated with details for the 5th Generation games, White and Black! Very little is known about it, but, according to Serebii, they will have a massive amount of new Pokemon!

As cool as Pokemon Black/White will be, I still want this game to be made:

Pokemon Sepia
Pokemon Monochrome

Set in the old days of Pokemon, where instead of a Pokedex you get a sketchbook that you fill in yourself.

Oh, I didn't realize Crimson already put it up.

That's actually a pretty cool concept. Kikuno looks awesome!

Actually I don't play those game which take to time to play. I think if you don't have a Nintendo GameCube, go get one now! It's awesome, and really worth the money. My favorites so far have been Super Mario Sunshine,Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Smash Bros.

Welcome to 2003.
