WBO Organized Play Rule Updates May 2018 – Sr, G3, mG, Level Chips Banned + More
- Kei
- May. 08, 2018 5:30 AM
Outlined below are several important new ruling additions, updates, and clarifications to the WBO Organized Play Burst Format rulebook and the Organizers' Guide. View all WBO Organized Play Rules & Resources here, and a summary of the changes below:
Rule Updates Overview
Burst Format Updates
Burst Format: Spriggan Requiem Layer - Trial Ban
Spriggan Requiem’s dominance and omnipresence among the winning combos of WBO tournament winners since its release at the end of 2017 has been well-documented. Sr is an immensely powerful Layer strong in all types; it works on practically any competitive Driver available as an attack type, a stamina type, or a defense type.
As a result, we have decided to proceed with a trial ban for Spriggan Requiem. This trial ban will be re-evaluated shortly after the conclusion of our BeyDays festivities on June 4th, 2018 (announcement for that coming soon!) and will remain banned until further notice.
Despite the promising presence (based on early testing) of new parts such as Bloody Longinus, we hope that in doing this, the metagame will have a chance to evolve in this short period without Sr as a overly centralizing force.
We encourage everyone to continue posting test results within the Spriggan Requiem testing thread in the meantime.
Burst Format: Hasbro’s Garuda G3 Energy Layer Banned in all Formats
Hasbro’s recently released Garuda G3 Layer has proven to fit tighter and be harder to burst than TAKARA-TOMY’s Maximum Garuda Layer, making its design unbalanced for competitive play. We have therefore decided to ban Hasbro’s Garuda G3 Energy Layer from both Burst Format and Hasbro Only Burst Format. This ban will be reviewed as new products are released.
Burst Format: Maximum Garuda Layer Banned
While we did proceed with an unban of mG back in February, it was due in large part to Spriggan Requiem’s ability to counter it. With Sr now banned, focus would inevitably shift back to mG if it were left untouched so we have decided to ban the Maximum Garuda Layer once again.
mG does have counters and is better balanced than Hasbro’s Garuda G3, but even so, on the relatively tight Orbit Driver in particular we believe that it remains a nuisance if allowed to remain. The benefits of banning mG (increased viability of mobile Attack types in particular) far outweigh any potential disadvantages (increased viability of Destroy-based stamina types, although these can be handled with mobile Attack types more reliably than mG Orbit can be).
We believe that this change in combination with the removal of Sr and G3 will nudge the metagame into a direction where mobile combinations become more attractive than stationary, a change which is positive particularly after such a long period of the latter.
In the mean time, please also feel free to continue posting your thoughts on Maximum Garuda and any tests you might conduct in the Maximum Garuda Testing/Discussion thread! This ban will be reviewed as new products are released.
Burst Format: Level Chips Banned
The Level Chip Layer accessory recently released has proven to be incredibly expensive and difficult to obtain currently. As a result, we have decided to ban Level Chip usage in WBO Organized Play Events until further notice to avoid any unfair competitive advantages gained by players who are able to obtain one.

Organizer’s Guide Updates
Organizer’s Guide: Tournament Formats – Double Elimination Finals Seeding Clarification
An additional clarification for how to order participants in Double Elimination Finals has been added:
Organizer’s Guide: Running Your Tournament - Conducting the Finals Wrote:
- Double Elimination: With the finalists determined, click “End the Group Stage” to proceed to the Final Stage. The Single Elimination bracket will be automatically generated. The top four players (winners bracket finalists) and fifth to eighth place players (losers bracket finalists) who earned a spot in the finals should be seeded separately based on their initial tournament seed. For instance, if Player A (Seed 5) is one of the four winners bracket finalists, they cannot be seeded lower than number four in the finals despite their initial seed being 5. Conversely, if Player B (Seed 2) is one of the losers bracket finalists, they cannot be ranked higher in the finals than number five despite their initial seed being 2. This will determine the order of the finalists from number one through eight and ultimately what the matchups will be.
Organizer’s Guide: Event Equipment – New Suggestions Added
Given the recent increase in attendance at our events around the world, we’ve added in a few more suggestions to the “Event Equipment” section of the Organizer’s Guide that we feel help to improve the organization of large events. You can find the new additions quoted below:
Organizer’s Guide: Event Equipment[/quote Wrote:BeyStadium
...
Additional stadiums for participants to use for free play while not participating in tournament matches is also extremely beneficial. Especially during larger events when the wait time between matches for each player might be longer than normal.
…
Pylons & Barriers
If you anticipate a large turnout, having pylons and barriers available to cordon off a specific area where tournament matches will be played is helpful in controlling large crowds. If you can do this, allow only judges or players who have been called for a tournament match to enter the designated area.
Personal Amplifier, Megaphone, or Microphone
If you anticipate a large turnout, having something to amplify your voice to announce rules, matches, and tournament updates is useful to ensure you are heard.
Organizer’s Guide: Tournament Management – Registration – New Suggestions Added
As an additional response to the increased attendance globally at WBO events, we’ve evaluated the “Registration” section of the Tournament Management section in the Organizer’s Guide and added in a few new suggestions to help improve efficiency and lower the potential for mistakes. See below:
Organizer’s Guide: Tournament Management - Registration Wrote:
- If possible, tag team the registration process with someone else helping you out. One person can handle adding participants to the Challonge bracket as they register, and another can handle creating a separate list of participants noting whether they have a Passport, are paying the one-time entry fee, or are purchasing a Passport.
- Ask participants at the beginning of registration to login to their accounts on their phone if possible and to visit their Account page (https://worldbeyblade.org/usercp.php?action=profile) in order to prove they are they account owner and to ensure their username is accurately transcribed. Alternatively, include a note on your event page to have people print this page for presentation during registration.

WBO Organized Play Rule Updates March 2018 – 12 Core Disk Restriction
- Kei
- Mar. 30, 2018 2:30 AM
Outlined below is one important new ruling addition to the WBO Organized Play Burst Format rulebook. View all WBO Organized Play Rules & Resources here, and a summary of the change below:
Burst Format Updates
Burst Format: 12 Core Disk must be used with a Frame
With recent reports indicating that the new 12 Core Disk from Beyblade Burst Super Z can cause damage to other parts, we have decided to introduce a restriction on its usage. Effective immediately, the 12 Core Disk must be used with a Frame at WBO Organized Play tournaments.
While it has not yet been determined for certain, the primary issue appears to be pairing the uncovered 12 Core Disk with Drivers that are taller than normal, such as the new Volcanic Driver. By forcing a Frame to be used with it, any issues with it damaging other parts will be avoided.
If evidence suggesting otherwise appears in the future, or if TAKARA-TOMY releases another version of the 12 Core Disk which is less aggressive, this decision may be reconsidered.

The World Beyblade Ranking System is Back!
- Kei
- Mar. 15, 2018 3:31 AM
Our worldwide ranking system for pariticipants of WBO Organized Play Beyblade tournaments has regrettably been out of commission for some time now due to problems which occurred after the launch of our new site design on our eighth anniversary. But we’re happy to announce that the ranking system is now working again!
Ranking System Updates Overview
New Ranking System Features
We have more features coming in the near future relating to our ranking system (battle profiles and notifications for tournaments near you, to name a couple), but with this latest update some key new features have now been added which will make processing events much easier and quicker for everybody.
Previously, each battle for each tournament required the winner and the loser to be manually input on the back-end of the site, accessible only to administrators. This has made for an enormous amount of work for the WBO Committee over the years. It was inefficient.
Winner/Loser Text Fields
With this new system, winners can be pasted into one column and losers into another column, allowing for all matches to be added essentially instantly for review before approval.
Organizer Pre-Processing
A “Winners” button will now appear for Organizers on their event page (not other event pages created by someone else) below its main description after their event has passed.
This will allow them to pre-process their results directly to our system after completing and posting their results spreadsheet. The results will not be added to the rankings immediately as we still need to do a final review to ensure everything is correct, but Organizers who choose to do this will help speed up the process for everyone immensely. And it will only take an extra couple minutes to do.
Pre-Processing “Winners” Screen. Visible only to Organizers on their Event Page after their event has passed. Organizers can simply copy and paste the winners and losers from their results spreadsheet all at once.
Once a Committee Member has reviewed and approved the results, they will be added to the rankings. Organizers, please check the Organizers’ Circle forum for a video tutorial and more details on how to do this.
Event Page Winners Display
Organizers can also submit the top three players when submitting their results using the above method.
Once the accompanying results have been approved, these three winners will be displayed on the thread itself showing that they won the tournament!
In the future, we also plan to have the ability to review the specific results for any given tournament on the event pages themselves so that it will be easy to identify how everyone did in the event you attended.
Working Through the Queue
However, since we haven’t been able to process tournament results into the rankings for some time now, there is a large queue of events that we will have to work through. You can view them in our WBO Organized Play Tournament Data Archive:
This archive will be updated gradually as the tournaments are processed. Once a tournament is fully processed (results, Bits, and Credits), it will be moved to the corresponding sheet for the format it belongs to (ex. a Burst Format event will be moved to the BST Archive sheet from the Unprocessed Tournaments sheet).
Ranked and Burst Events Will Be Prioritized
We will be prioritizing ranked and Burst tournaments first so that we can finally get the rankings up to date again.
Credits Usage Will be Announced Later On
Credits will be added, but cannot be spent until we get closer to completing the queue. We will announce when Credits may be used again.
Tournaments Will Be Processed Gradually
Rather than going on a blitz and trying to complete everything as quickly as possible, we will be taking our time with the processing of the results in order to provide the opportunity for the players involved to review the results after they have been processed. We don’t want to process 10 tournaments and then have someone say “a battle was missing” or “this result was wrong”!
Doing it slowly will also give us the opportunity to more easily assess who needs to be awarded the Platinum Bit (for reaching the Top 5 in the Burst or Metal Fight Rankings) and to capture a list of what the Top 15 or so looked like over the past year or so at any given time.
Thank You For Your Patience!
We’d like to thank everyone for their immense patience over the past year plus since the rankings went down and for their patience moving forward as we start to move through the queue of past events.
We’ve been committed to getting the system back up and running since it went down, but it’s become incredibly complex, especially given the eight years worth of results currently processed within it and the additional features we wanted to add.
It took longer than we would have liked to get the new features added, but we feel that with the features described here (and even more improvements we are planning in the future), it will be the best thing for us in the long run in terms of being able to efficiently process events and reduce our workload, which will in turn allow us to spend more time working on other improvements to the site.

WBO Organized Play Rule Updates March 2018 – dα Layer Rules, Double Elimination Added

Burst Format: duo αpollos, duo αrtemis, and duo αeclipse Layer Configuration Clarifications
With the release of the CoroCoro-exclusive duo αeclipse Layer recently and its unique Layer-splitting gimmick, some additional clarification for its usage in the first stage of our events and Deck Format in the finals–where only one copy of a Layer is permitted in your Deck–of WBO Organized Play Events is needed.
We have decided to consider each configuration of dα as a separate Layer. What this means for each stage of our events is outlined below:
Final Stage – Deck Format
You are permitted to construct a Deck containing any number of the configurations: duo αpollos, duo αrtemis, or duo αeclipse as all or part of the three Layers in your Deck Format combos. If you do not have three copies of dα, you are permitted to disassemble the Layer as is necessary throughout the Deck Format battle in order to switch to the other Layer configurations.
First Stage
During the first stage of events in regular matches, our regular mode changing rules for Layers that require disassembly and have mode changes (like Alter Chronos or Legend Spriggan) do not apply to dα because the different configurations are considered as separate Layers and not “modes”. Therefore, you cannot switch your configuration of dα during a regular first stage match.
Organizer’s Guide Updates
Organizer’s Guide: Tournament Formats – Double Elimination Added as Option for 33+ Participants
Double Elimination is now available as a Tournament Format option for events with 33 or more participants as an alternative to Swiss Format.
In Double Elimination, there are two brackets: the Winners Bracket and Losers Bracket. After losing once, Bladers are sent to the Losers Bracket. If they lose for a second time, they are eliminated from the event. Once both brackets have been completed, the top eight Bladers (top four from the Winners Bracket, top four from the Losers Bracket) move on to the Final Stage using our standard Single Elimination Deck Format.
Challonge Instructions
In addition to the standard instructions in our Organizer’s Guide, when creating your Double Elimination event in Challonge, use these options:
Using the total number of participants for the last option ensures there will only be a single Double Elimination bracket to run. For example, if you tournament has 36 participants, your bracket will have 36 participants. Not two 18-player brackets.
Our introduction of Double Elimination is in an effort to provide an option for tournament hosts that may not have access to the amount of dedicated judges needed to efficiently run Swiss Format with six or more rounds (as becomes necessary with 33 or more participants according to our Organizer’s Guide) in a reasonable amount of time. We have often found that in larger Swiss Format events, participants/parents often don’t understand how long the event is going to take, which leads to some players dropping out, and causes disruptions for hosts. It’s important to note that hosts should make an effort to provide an estimate of how long an event will take to complete before it starts, but nevertheless, adding Double Elimination as an option will be beneficial in some circumstances.
Double Elimination is lenient and fair enough in the sense that you get two chances before being eliminated, but it nevertheless is slightly more demanding than Swiss Format where sometimes players with two losses can make it to the finals. However, this is a fair price to pay given the length of time Swiss Format can often take.

Burst Format Updates

All Rulebooks – Photography Policy Wrote:By attending any World Beyblade Organization Organized Play Event, you agree as either an organizer, participant, or spectator to potentially be photographed or included by video shot by staff members, organizers, or other participants/spectators.
If you would prefer to not be included in any photographs or videos, please notify the host of the event and they can make an effort to notify the person taking photos and video to minimize your appearance in them as much as possible. However, guarantees of complete exclusion cannot be made given the nature of shooting photos and video at our events (you may still appear in the background depending on the circumstances, for example). WBO Organized Play Rule Updates February 2018 – mG Unbanned, Sr Restriction + More
- Kei
- Feb. 08, 2018 5:59 AM
Spriggan Requiem Layer – Mode Changing Between Rounds is Now Banned
As has been recently demonstrated, Spriggan Requiem has proven it is immensely competitive. However, it has been made even more powerful due to the mode changing for parts which require disassembly ruling we introduced in October of 2017.
After seeing Spriggan Requiem in action with mode switching in between rounds permitted, we’ve decided to ban such mode changes for Sr specifically. Having a Layer with good spin stealing abilities that can switch spin directions has produced an unhealthy scenario where counters to one spin direction are immediately made irrelevant by swapping direction. You may of course change the mode of Sr in between matches, but effective immediately you may no longer switch modes within a single match between rounds.
Other Layers such as Alter Chronos and Legend Spriggan which also have mode changes which require disassembly are unaffected by this ruling; you may still switch the mode of those Layers between rounds up to once per match.
Maximum Garuda Layer – Now Unbanned
The previously announced trial ban of Maximum Garuda for ten tournaments has now been completed. After evaluating its performance against newer parts and combinations in testing posted here, we have decided to unban Maximum Garuda as it now has several more reliable counters than it did previously when it was first banned. However, we will continue to monitor its performance moving forward.
See the winning combinations lists from the ten events hosted during the trial period:
Please feel free to continue posting your thoughts on Maximum Garuda and any tests you might conduct in the Maximum Garuda Testing/Discussion thread or in commentary related to a specific tournament in the Winning Combinations thread!

Gameplay Appendix – Clarification of “Spinning” Definition
With the recent introduction of parts like Bearing into Beyblade Burst, the classic debate over what the definition of ‘spinning’ is has continued recently. As such, we felt it would be prudent to take some of what we’ve learned from discussions like this to revise and clarify what the intention of our definition of ‘spinning’ means.
The definition now reads:
Bold denotes new additions. The key takeaway here is that Beyblades are only considered to be spinning when they are visibly rotating along the axis of their tip; if they aren’t doing this, it doesn’t matter if they are moving or rolling in any other fashion, they are not considered to be spinning by our definition.
Organizer’s Guide Updates
Tiebreaking Clarifications
We have made some clarifications to the tiebreaking procedures for both Swiss and Round Robin-based events regarding the proper application of the TB column value, the application of seeding as a tiebreaking factor in some specific situations, and the rare occurrence of a necessary tiebreak match for Swiss Format when determining who moves on to the Final Stage of WBO Organized Play Events.
The easiest way to understand these changes is to review this updated list of tiebreaking factors which is organized from the first which should be applied, all the way down to the final tiebreak factor only if necessary to break the tie. Bolded text denotes new additions or clarifications:
Round Robin/Block Round Robin
1. Overall score/win record
2. TB column (Only if the players in question have match history)
3. Tiebreaker match
Swiss Format
1. Overall score/win record
2. TB column (Only if the players in question have match history)
3. Buchholz
4. Seeding: Higher seed retains higher spot if above factors are all tied (Only if determining the order of two participants already guaranteed a spot in the finals).
5. Tiebreaker match (Only if there is a tiebreak which involves two or more players on the edge of making the finals or not)
For more background on this change, please see both Wombat’s and my post here.

As such, we felt it would be prudent to take some of what we’ve learned from discussions like this to revise and clarify what the intention of our definition of ‘spinning’ means.

Gameplay Appendix – Spinning Wrote:A Beyblade is still considered to be spinning as long as it is visibly rotating to any degree along the axis running directly through the center of the Beyblade faster than the rotation along the stadium floor. A complete full rotation around this axis is not needed to be considered spinning. Rotation along the stadium floor alone is considered ‘rolling’ and is therefore no longer considered to be spinning.
Some Beyblades have parts that allow the upper half to continue rotating after the bottom half has stopped; these are still considered to be spinning. Once a Beyblade stops spinning, the round ends. If a Beyblade starts spinning again after it has stopped, the round does not resume.

WBO Contributor Group Expansion
- Kei
- Jan. 15, 2018 8:40 PM
With all of the changes the WBO has undergone since our eighth anniversary–both in terms of the site itself and our team–and the fact that there is still much work to be done and many areas in which we know we can be better, over the past several months we came to the realization that in order to continue making progress, we would need more help.
Expanding the WBO Contributor Team
Our solution to this has been to expand the WBO Contributor team. This team’s primary focus will be the critical role of maintaining our vast number of existing practices from Youtube videos, to social media posts, Beyblade news, reviewing Organizer’s Quiz submissions, approving event proposals, and more.
Quite simply, without these people, the WBO Committee wouldn’t have the time to continue making progress on further improvements to the site, such as the long awaited new theme and all of the functionality that is going to be bringing (more on that soon in a future announcement!) or think about bigger picture projects to improve the community.
Existing Contributors
The existing WBO Contributor team consists of the following:
And we are pleased to announce that the following members will now be joining the team!:
What do they do?
The Organized Play Contributors will be focusing their efforts on reviewing Organizer’s Quiz submissions, event proposals, assisting new players on the forums looking to host tournaments, providing feedback to the Committee on rule changes (of course, we will still discuss big changes with the community as well!), and helping to keep our tournament data archive up to date. In short, they are experts in everything WBO Organized Play. If you have any questions about tournament rules or hosting your own event, don’t hesitate to ask them.
Social Media Contributors are focused on producing new content for our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter). Some might specialize in photography like juncction, and others might be focused on writing posts regarding Beyblade News, like Hato will be. That being said, as always we still accept submissions of photos and video from our official events!
Youtube Contributors dedicate themselves to helping manage and produce new content for our Youtube Channel, Beyblade Channel. TrainiacJ will continue producing Beyblade Review videos as he has been for a while, and will also work on new video ideas as well. Additionally, Jojo [Jp0t] will bring her expertise from her own Youtube channel and helping with videos as well.
And finally, Jinbee and Mage will be joining as a pair of Global Moderators to ensure our Community Rules are enforced fairly and the forums stay organized.
With this expanded version of the WBO team for 2018, we will continue striving to be the best Beyblade community in the world. You can count on better organization, efficiency, responsiveness, activity, and improvements as the new team members get acclimated to their new roles.
We will also continue looking at ways in which we can improve even further and bring more Contributors onto the team. We are open to ideas for areas in which improvements could be made, but please understand that we do not take applications for becoming a Contributor officially. We will contact you! That being said, helping out members around the forums and promoting the WBO in your local community are all things you can absolutely do nevertheless.
Thank you everyone!

9th Anniversary: Commence!
- ~Mana~
- Dec. 04, 2017 8:55 PM
Hey there World Bladers!
As we come to the end of another year of Beyblade, we look back at everything that has happened in the world of Beyblade this year. Takara-Tomy and Hasbro both launched their God Layer System series, mixing up the metagame immensely. The WBO has continued to grow, with activity staying strong and discussions ongoing! You guys have also made 95 WBO sanctioned events possible so far this year, which is a number that continues to astound us!
But now, the time has come to celebrate our 9th Anniversary! This year, we've prepared a number of festivities to celebrate:
First, creator of Metal Fight Beyblade–Adachi Takafumi–has drawn up the fantastic new character art of Taka & Fumi–the WBO mascots we unveiled last year–that you see in our Anniversary logo! You'll see this used more across the site this coming year, and will also be featured on brand new shirts in our store very soon! And we're also bringing our beloved BeyLotto out again for the third time this year and opening it up to all Bladers! Be sure to enter, we've got some fantastic prizes this year!
Our Instagram contests have been a hit this year, so we're bringing out another one: the #WBOMemories contest! We're finally publishing HMS & Plastics Remembrance BeyLotto Results (sorry for the delay!), and providing a few of rule updates to our Competitive Play rulebooks. There's something for everyone this year!
We had also planned to launch our rewrite of the current site theme today as well, but circumstances mean that this isn't possible today. However, when we do launch this later this month, you can look forward to a number of old features returning to the site, as well as a number of new ones, such as Battle Histories on profiles, tournament invitations, and what we feel will have the largest impact: Organizer tournament processing! We'll have more information on this when it launches, so stay tuned for the full details!
And as usual, let's not forget that we're waiving the fees for all WBO tournaments between December 4th and January 4th! Make the most of this time to host a few tournaments and bring new Bladers to each of our communities!
The past year hasn't been smooth. We've had a number of site issues to fix (and still do!), but you've all been understanding and helped to make the process as smooth as possible. As our dedicated community, thank you for sticking with us; joining in discussions, writing Wiki articles, participating in events worldwide, and making the WBO the place to be for Beyblade fans for the ninth year in a row!
Here's to another year! (Oh god, we're 10 next year...better plan something big...)

WBO Organized Play Rule Updates December 2017 – Mode Change Launcher Restrictions
- Kei
- Dec. 04, 2017 8:54 PM
Burst Format: Mode Changes For Parts Which Require Disassembly – Launcher Switching Restrictions
As was announced in our rule updates in October, parts which require disassembly to change their mode–like Alter Chronos, Legend Spriggan, or the upcoming Spriggan Requiem–may now be changed once per match at any time.
As an added clarification to this update, we wanted to be clear how launcher switching works in the case of Beyblades like Legend Spriggan which can change spin directions.
First Stage Matches
In any first stage match, if you are using a Beyblade that has a spin direction switching gimmick, you may change your launcher to one of the opposite spin direction when you make the mode switch. However, the launcher switched to must be of the same type/power as the one you previously used. To be precise, here is an outline of the legal launcher switches possible:
✓ Switching Permitted
Final Stage Matches (Deck Format)
In the final stage Deck Format matches, switching between the two launchers of different spin directions initially selected for the match is permitted. You cannot pick another, third launcher.
Status Report - Trial Ban: Maximum Garuda Layer
As previously announced, we are currently in the midst of a trial ban of the Maximum Garuda Layer. Since our announcement, the results have been rather promising. See the winning combinations lists from the four events hosted thus far:
Organizers’ Guide Updates
New Launchers Added to Rotation Chart
We have added in the proper number of launcher rotations for the Light Launcher LR to the chart in the Organizers’ Guide. We would also like to add the Hasbro String and Switchstrike Launchers; and if anyone knows the number of rotations on those, please let us know!
Feedback?
If you have any feedback on these particular changes, or any questions or suggestions for further adjustments or additions, please post your thoughts below or in the WBO Organized Play Rules thread.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support of WBO Organized Play! We appreciate any and all feedback and are always looking to improve and clarify things where possible.

Happy 9th anniversary, everyone! Over the many years we've shared at the WBO, we've made tons of memories both online and in person. Fellow Bladers who met at tournaments have, in some cases, become lifelong friends, and many of our Beyblades have led us to exciting victories! To celebrate the memories we've made as a community, it's time for the Favourite WBO Memory instagram contest:
Post Your Favourite WBO Memory on Instagram
From today until January 4th, 2018 @ 11:59pm EST, we want to hear about your favourite WBO memory! We encourage you to be creative with your interpretation of this theme: make it fit your own unique experience in the community! Not sure what to post about? Here are just a few ideas:
One grand prize winner will be picked randomly at the end of the contest, and a committee panel of judges will determine two other winners who will earn a Bit Booster, B-100 Spriggan Requiem.0.Zt, and have their memory reposted on the @worldbeyblade Instagram account. Here are the few rules you have to follow to enter this contest:
The winner will receive a brand new B-100 Starter Spriggan Requiem.0.Zt and one of the following Bit Boosters for their user profile!:
Comment in this thread with any questions, and best of luck to everyone! We can't wait for your entries, and for all the new, great memories we'll make in the WBO's 9th year.

- A silly photo of you and your Beyblade friends at a WBO tournament
- A picture of a Beyblade you took home a special prize with
- An image that reminds you of a fun moment you had browsing the WBO forum

WBO Organized Play Rule Updates October 2017 – Maximum Garuda & Ωuter Ban + More
- Kei
- Oct. 24, 2017 6:08 AM
Outlined below are several important new ruling additions, updates, and clarifications to all WBO Organized Play rulebooks and the Organizers' Guide. View all WBO Organized Play Rules & Resources here, and a summary of the changes below:
Rule Updates Overview
Burst Format Updates
[Image: 800px-Maximum-Garuda-Layer-mG-Beyblade-B...Banned.png]
IMPORTANT: Trial Ban – Maximum Garuda Layer
Given Maximum Garuda's immense dominance in WBO Organized Play events since being introduced this past July, the decision has been made to proceed with a trial ban of mG so that we can observe what the metagame would look like without it in play. This trial ban will last for approximately 10 Burst Format tournaments (in at least 3 separate regions). After the 10 tournaments have been completed, we will re-evaluate the status of the ban with the following being determining factors:
In the mean time, please also feel free to continue posting your thoughts on Maximum Garuda and any tests you might conduct in the Maximum Garuda Testing/Discussion thread!
[Image: 800px-Outer-Disk-Beyblade-Burst-WBO-OP-Banned.png]
IMPORTANT: The Ωuter Disk is Now Banned
Until further notice, the Ωuter Disk is now banned from all WBO Organized Play events. We will re-evaluate this ban when Ωuter becomes more easily obtainable.
In addition to dominating G2 and G3 tournaments in Japan, the Ωuter Disk has been proven to be a dominating force in the few WBO events it has been present at; it is undeniably the best Disk for Stamina in the game currently. However, because it is only available through Ωrichalcum Ωuter Ωcta in the RARE BEY GET BATTLE on the TAKARA-TOMY Beyblade Burst website/app, and because it has been proven to be much more difficult to win than αmaterios or βaldur, we have decided that for the sake of fairness to all players that the Disk will be banned until it becomes more readily available.
IMPORTANT: Burst Format: Mode Changes For Parts Which Require Disassembly – 1 Allowed Per Match
Parts which require disassembly to change their mode–like Alter Chronos or Legend Spriggan–may now be changed once per match at any time. This means that for example, you can change Legend Spriggan from left- to right-spin once per match. If two players wish to change modes at the same time, they must turn around and do so in secret before continuing the match.
We welcome feedback on this rule change once you've had a chance to try it in a WBO Organized Play event and will be evaluating how effective or fair it is moving forward. Our hope however is that it will make Attack types like Legend Spriggan slightly more viable, which is important for Burst Format.
This change currently only applies to Burst Format.
God Chip Use in Mandatory
We have clarified that the use of a God Chip in all Layers that accept them is mandatory.
Deck Format: Regular God Chips May Be Repeated
We have clarified that the repetition of regular God Chips in your Deck is permitted. Metal God Chips may not be repeated.
Deck Format: Non-Contact Bursts = 1 Point
Burst Finishes that occur without any contact with the opposing Beyblade are now worth 1 Point instead of 2.
Updates to All Rulebooks & Organizers’ Guide
IMPORTANT: Beyblade Selection: Parts Borrowed at Any Point Must be Announced
If a player does not own a part that they are using in a tournament battle and are borrowing it from someone else, it must be announced who they are borrowing from during the Beyblade Selection phase before the match begins regardless of when the part was borrowed.
Judges: When the Beyblade Selection phase begins, ask each player if they are borrowing parts or receiving help from another person. If one or both players are, you must inform them who is helping or lending parts to their opponent.
Players: If you are borrowing part(s) or receiving advice from someone, you must tell the judge who the person is when he or she asks you. Parts borrowed at any point during the event for future use must be announced as well. The exact part(s) do not need to be announced, just the person they are being borrowed from.
This update has been made to further clarify the new rule from our August 2017 update regarding receiving help before a match begins. There is no longer any ambiguity regarding whether or not parts borrowed before the Beyblade Selection phase begins need to be announced or not: they do.
Organizers’ Guide Updates
New Launchers Added to Rotation Chart
We have added in the proper number of launcher rotations for the BeyLauncher LR (7.5) and the Digital Sword launcher (TBD) to the chart in the Organizers’ Guide.

- Discussion in the community

WBO Organized Play Rule Updates September 2017 – D/D2 Unbanned, BST KO Ruling Update
- Kei
- Sep. 17, 2017 8:39 PM
Outlined below are several important new ruling additions, updates, and clarifications to all WBO Organized Play rulebooks and the Organizers' Guide. View all WBO Organized Play Rules & Resources here, and a summary of the changes below:
Rule Updates Overview
Burst Format Updates
IMPORTANT: Deathscyther & Dark Deathscyther Layers Unbanned
Effective immediately, the Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther Layers are now unbanned and legal for use in Burst Format tournaments.
After banning Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther back in May, Beyblade Burst has underwent some of the most dramatic changes in its history to date with the newest releases in the God Layer System finally overtaking parts that had been dominant for well over a year. The ban of Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther served to help make this progression faster by forcing players to look forward and find new strategies, but now with the new and powerful parts of the God Layer System running rampant throughout our tournaments, the time now seems right to unban Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther.
We believe that both parts no longer pose the same threat that they once did, but look forward to seeing how you all utilize them (if at all)! Please feel free to post tests in the Burst Customizations forum as well.
IMPORTANT: Burst Format KO Ruling Changes
This means that if a Beyblade hits the back wall of the stadium cover in one of the three exits of the TAKARA-TOMY BeyStadium Standard Type and immediately bounces back in, it will have already been considered knocked-out unless it did so before touching the opposing Beyblade.
Previously, our rules stated that a Beyblade is considered knocked-out when "it exists the play area and cannot return". The key here is essentially the removal of the phrase "cannot return"; if a Beyblade exits the stadium after touching the opposing Beyblade in any fashion, it is considered knocked-out.
This particular update in reality will likely not have a dramatic effect on most tournaments, as was demonstrated to us in the two most recent Toronto tournaments where we gave it a trial run; it only happened a handful of times. However, even if only slight, what it does do it make Attack types in Burst Format just a little bit more viable competitively.
Updates to All Rulebooks
Painting/Decorating Launchers, Grips, and Accessories Clarification
We realized that some of the current verbiage in our rulebooks was slightly vague as it only mentioned "parts", so we have now added the above ruling to each rulebook in order to clarify that painting/decorating of launcher, grips, and accessories is permitted to the above degree.

IMPORTANT: Burst Format KO Ruling Changes
Burst Format Rulebook - Gameplay Appendix: Knocked-Out Wrote:A Beyblade is now considered knocked-out when it exits the play area. Beyblades that bounce back into the stadium after exiting the play area are still considered knocked-out.
However, if a Beyblade exits the play area and bounces back in before touching the opposing Beyblade in any fashion, the round will continue.
This means that if a Beyblade hits the back wall of the stadium cover in one of the three exits of the TAKARA-TOMY BeyStadium Standard Type and immediately bounces back in, it will have already been considered knocked-out unless it did so before touching the opposing Beyblade.

Updates to All Rulebooks
Painting/Decorating Launchers, Grips, and Accessories Clarification
All Rulebooks Wrote:Launchers, Grips, and Accessories may be painted or decorated for aesthetic purposes only. Any paint or decoration added must not affect the performance or originally intended functions or gimmicks of the part and should not obstruct your opponent’s ability to launch properly in any way. If a judge determines your launcher, grip, or accessory has been modified to the point of illegality due to such modifications, they may tell you to you switch to a new version of that same part.
We realized that some of the current verbiage in our rulebooks was slightly vague as it only mentioned "parts", so we have now added the above ruling to each rulebook in order to clarify that painting/decorating of launcher, grips, and accessories is permitted to the above degree.

WBO Youtube: Introducing Beyblade Reviews!
- Kei
- Aug. 18, 2017 4:28 AM
We have some exciting news to announce today! In collaboration with @[TrainiacJ], the WBO will now be producing Beyblade Reviews for our Youtube Channel, Beyblade Channel!
Check out our first review below for B-86 Starter Legend Spriggan.7.Mr:
Our goal here is to provide succinct and informative (in terms of competitive relevancy) reviews for Beyblades, a type of video which we felt–generally speaking–is currently underrepresented on Youtube. And at the same time, we feel that this type of video is reflective of our goals in promoting Beyblade on a competitive level worldwide.
For the time being, we will be focusing on producing reviews for the newest releases in the Beyblade Burst series. We hope you all look forward to more reviews in the coming months. If you liked the video, please be sure to leave a like it and Subscribe to Beyblade Channel to be sure you don’t miss any of our future videos!
Finally, huge thank you to TrainiacJ for donating his time and making this possible in the first place! And also to @[juncction] for the above photo of Legend Spriggan (and your help with our social media)! We are working on a new approach to our idea of the "Contributors" user group and will be adding both of you soon to recognize your contributions to the team.

WBO Organized Play Rule Updates August 2017 – mG God Chip Restrictions + More
- Kei
- Aug. 12, 2017 4:23 AM
Outlined below are several important new ruling additions, updates, and clarifications to all WBO Organized Play rulebooks and the Organizers' Guide. View all WBO Organized Play Rules & Resources here, a summary of the changes below:
Rule Updates Overview
Burst Format Updates
IMPORTANT: Maximum Garuda God Chip Restrictions
Effective immediately, the Maximum Garuda Layer in Beyblade Burst cannot be used with any other God Chip except for the default God Chip that comes with stock mG–Maximum Garuda.8F.Fl from B-87–or the soon to be released B-91 Metal God Chip.
It was recently announced by TAKARA-TOMY that they would be implementing this same change after the discovery of a particular mold of God Chip fitting much, much tighter with other parts than other molds. You can read more about the different molds of God Chips here.
Disassembling or Swapping Layer Components is Illegal
It is now officially illegal to disassemble all Beyblade Burst Layers or swap components between them. This means that you may not, for example, take the clear ‘over Layer’ from one Layer such as Victory Valkyrie and swap it with one from another Layer.
Updates to All Rulebooks
[Image: 5tCmwg1.jpg]
Receiving Help Before a Match: Must be Announced
To allow for an even playing field where both players have a fair chance of knowing what they are up against, it is now mandatory for players to announce to the judge and their opponent if they are receiving advice or parts from someone else during the Beyblade Selection phase of a match.
We don’t want to discourage communication between players at our events, but the disadvantage created for Bladers playing someone who they don’t know are receiving advice or parts from someone else is apparent. If your opponent is receiving help, you can’t make an informed Beyblade selection if you’re making that decision based on what you know solely about your opponent, and not based on what you know about the person helping them.
Beyblade & Launcher Presentation
Like Deck Format, players are now required to present both their Beyblade and Launcher to their opponent before the first round of every match.
Beyblades (with mode changes that do not require disassembly) and Launchers with multiple spin directions available may be changed after the presentation phase.
Players do not need to present their Beyblade or launcher prior to subsequent rounds in the same match.
Organizers' Guide Updates
Judge Neutrality: Advice Restrictions
This almost goes without saying, but we have added additional clarification to the Organizers’ Guide for judges regarding neutrality. All WBO Organized Play judges are expected to exert a neutral, unbiased stance for everything that may occur during any given match.
✗ Judges May Not
Give any advice to either player as it pertains to the battle itself. Some examples of this include combo selection advice or telling one player to “weak launch” to have a better chance of winning.
✓ Judges May
Give technical equipment-related advice to players. Some examples of this include an observation that something may be broken with their launcher, if their Beyblade is not properly attached prior to the beginning of a round, and so forth.
Incorrect Seeding Issues & ‘Random’ Seeding Clarification
After a recent event in which the seeding was handled incorrectly by accident, we have revised our Organizers’ Guide to specify precisely what is meant by “random seeding” and expanded slightly upon why seeding is incredibly important. You can read the full update in the section below, but here is a quote from the tournament report I wrote outlining why proper seeding is paramount:
While there is unfortunately some room for interpretation currently as the BeyPoint System Queue is not up to date yet, we expect Organizers to make smart decisions about where certain players are seeded; the most obvious and clear cut being that returning players should not be given the bottom seed in an event ahead of new players.
Dropped Participants Clarification
One thing which has never really been clear in our rules is how Organizers should deal with players who–for one reason or another–drop from tournaments and have to leave before their matches have been completed. We have now addressed this in the Organizers’ Guide with specific rulings
For all formats, if a player drops before the conclusion of the event their battles played will be ultimately processed into the rankings as normal. However, for the following formats:
Round Robin & Block Round Robin
If a player drops from an event before completing all of their matches in a Round Robin-based event, they will be given "losses" for every match both played and unplayed.
What this means is that the matches the dropped player has played will be counted for the WBO Rankings, but will all be considered "losses" within the context of the event. If someone wins four matches in an eight-player round robin and drops, they'll get the four wins (for the matches played) and three losses (for the matches missed) within the WBO Rankings, but will receive seven losses within the context of the tournament. This will ensure that the flow of the tournament is not disrupted in any way; players who lost to the player that dropped won't be at a disadvantage compared to the players who didn't and get free wins as a result.
Swiss Format
If a player drops from a Swiss tournament, they will retain their wins but receive match losses for the remainder of the tournament. Players who drop from a Swiss event will not be eligible for additional Credits beyond the +1 Participation Credit due to the greater inconvenience it places on the tournament organizer and all participants in comparison to other formats.
However for all formats, if a player stays to complete their round robin/swiss round matches and makes the finals, they will only be given losses for their battles in the finals.
To help avoid the possibility of participants dropping from your event, we encourage all Organziers to announce the estimated length of the tournament before it begins.
Event Proposals: Required Interest Now 4 Players Minimum
The minimum required number of confirmed participants for members planning to schedule an event and become an Organizer is now 4. However, anybody proposing an event with less than 8 participants (the threshold where your event becomes eligible for ranked status, prize reimbursement, etc), must be doing so with the intention of trying to gather more participants and to grow their community.
Submit Social Media Content, Help Your Community Grow!
We understand that the best way to get your event noticed is to have it posted in our official WBO Beyblade Tournaments forum, and hope that this change will allow for more communities to host events and grow.
To allow us to help you do this, remember that all Club Format events are required to submit a group photo. This photo, along with any other photos or video you can submit to us to post on our social media are one way we can help promote your community after each of your events. This also applies to all Organizers in general, regardless of the size of your event!

HMS & Plastics Remembrance 2017 - July 15th through August 6th!
- Angry Face
- Jul. 15, 2017 2:46 PM
Flash! HMS & Plastics Remembrance 2017 is here, and we're shaking it up!
Breaking with the tradition of past years, our celebration of the series that started it all will go on for not just one weekend or even two: this year's HMS and Plastics Remembrance will span four weekends lasting from July 15 to August 6!
Some things never change, though, such as the extra +1 credit for participants of HMS and Plastic events during the celebratory period. For anyone planning to attend multiple old school events, this will be a great chance to rack up those credits!
As of now, these areas will be holding events as part of HMS & PLA Remembrance:
It's time for another BeyLotto! Every member who participates in a HMS or Plastic Format event between July 15th and August 6th will be entered. Unlike that of BeyDays, though, this one is stacked (literally) with Beyblades from the first generation...
And of course, all 8 randomly-picked winners of the above prizes will receive their choice of the following huge list of Bit Boosters:
Beyblade Photography Contest 5: Generations
On top of this all, we're swinging another Bit contest your way! With the continuation of the Bakuten Shoot: RISING manga, this year's theme is aptly "generations." The three best entries will each receive their choice of a Bit Booster from the same list as the winners of the BeyLotto above.
And for the top prize? Why, a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet...

Plastics & HMS on Social Media!
Lastly, keep an eye on the WBO's social media pages for plenty of Plastics & HMS related content over these next few weeks!
And don't forget to share your favorite Beyblade memories and celebration plans with the hashtag:
HMS and Plastic Format tournament participants who do that and tag us @worldbeyblade on Twitter or Instagram get 1 extra entry in the BeyLotto!
Best of luck to everyone, and happy HMS & Plastics Remembrance!
P.S. Stay tuned for the winners of the BeyDays BeyLotto to be announced very soon...!!
– Saturday, July 15th –
- Bey-ja Vu at Wasena Park in Roanoke, VA
– Sunday, July 16th –
- wot is plastic? at FDR Park in Philadelphia, PA
– Sunday, July 16th –
- Galaxy Turbo Twister at Dhakuria Lake in Kolkata, India
– Saturday, July 29th –
- PLASTIC'S NOT DEAD! 4 at High Park in Toronto, ON
- Saturday, August 12th -
- Wait, this isn't Burst?! at Regent's Park in London, UK
(We'll update this list and feature new events here as they're approved, so get on it, Organizers! :P)
And as if BeyDays wasn't long enough past...

It's time for another BeyLotto! Every member who participates in a HMS or Plastic Format event between July 15th and August 6th will be entered. Unlike that of BeyDays, though, this one is stacked (literally) with Beyblades from the first generation...

- Following in TAKARA-TOMY’s footsteps, we have decided that effective May 15th, the Dark Deathscyther and Deathscyther Layers are now banned from Burst Format in WBO Organized Play Events. Both Layers have been banned due to their extreme overall power, versatility, and unhealthy influence on the diversity of Burst Format. These bans will be reviewed as new products are released. To help our continued review of these parts easier, we encourage everyone to continue testing with them and posting results in the Burst Customizations forum. However, for the time being we are optimistic that their absence from the game will allow for new parts and strategies to shine that may not have been viable before. Note: this ban does not include Hasbro’s Dark Doomscizor or Doomscizor Energy Layers.
- Foreign Substance - Nail Polish Clarification: We have added clarification stating that it is legal to apply a thin coat of nail polish to the stickers of your Beyblades for aesthetic purposes to protect them.
- Foreign Substance - Marking Parts Clarification: We have added clarification stating that making small marks on parts with pen/marker for the purpose of identification and being able to maintain parts orientation in the event of your Beyblade bursting/disassembling during a round is legal.
- Homemade/Unofficial Stickers: We have added clarification that only stickers included with officially released or licensed by Hasbro or TAKARA-TOMY (and SONO KONG in the case of Plastics/HMS/MFB) may be used on your Beyblade.
- Sticker Placement: We have added clarification regarding where stickers may be placed on your Beyblades. Generally speaking, you must follow the positioning as is outlined with the instructions included in each product. For more precise details, see the rulebooks or description below.
- Brand Incompatibility (Burst Format): We have added clarification regarding the usage of parts that have been previously mixed with other brands. This means you cannot use a Hasbro Energy Layer in WBO Organized Play if it has been previously used with a TAKARA-TOMY Driver in testing or free-play and vice-versa with TAKARA-TOMY Layers and Hasbro Performance Tips. Particularly in the case of using a Hasbro Energy Layer that has been forced to fit on a TT Driver with a Hasbro Driver again, a higher burst resistance is created as a result of the damage that is inevitably created by forcing it onto a TT Driver previously.
- Hasbro Burst Format: This was made official a while back, but we have now added a section to the Burst Format Rulebook outlining the rules.
- Organizers’ Guide - Beyblade Inspection: We have made some significant structural updates and additions to the “Judging a Match” section. It is now split into two major sections: “Before the Match” and “During the Match”. There are clearer and more detailed instructions and expectations for judges regarding Beyblade selection and inspection contained within the “Before the Match” section. All organizers, judges, and players should read the detailed description below or in the Organizers’ Guide before their next event.
You can find the exact wording included in the rulebooks below. There may be slight variations in these descriptions depending on the format. Please reference the full rulebooks for each format.
’Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Section’ Wrote:Banned Layers: Deathscyther & Dark Deathscyther
The Layers Deathscyther & Dark Deathscyther are currently banned from use in World Beyblade Organization events due to their extreme overall power, versatility, and unhealthy influence on the diversity of Burst Format.
These bans will be reviewed as new products are released. Note: this ban does not include Hasbro’s Dark Doomscizor or Doomscizor Energy Layers.
’All Rulebooks - Legal Equipment Red Illegal Section’ Wrote:Foreign Substances: Beyblade parts cannot be painted, coated, or physically modified in any way except in the methods explicitly outlined in the green section below. Bladers who intentionally modify the performance illegally of their equipment will be disqualified and potentially banned from future WBO events.
Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Red Illegal Section’ Wrote:Sticker Placement: Stickers cannot be placed anywhere where two parts of the Beyblade come into contact with each other. You must respect the legal sticker positioning as instructed by TAKARA-TOMY in each Beyblade Starter and Booster product. In other words, these are the only placements accepted: for Layers, follow the sticker guide of that specific Layer; for the Disk, apply star stickers only on the bottom, outward ring, not inner, and ideally just on the embossed stars; for the Driver, only on the small center with the embossed letter.
As the only exception to this rule, you may place one star sticker on the top of a Layer near the center and on the outward perimeter on the bottom of a Driver for identification purposes.
Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Red Illegal Section Wrote:Brand Incompatibility: Hasbro Energy Layers cannot be used with Takara-Tomy Drivers, and Takara-Tomy Layers cannot be used with Hasbro Performance Tips.
This applies to official battles in WBO events, and parts previously used in testing in a mixed brand combination. The slopes on Hasbro Energy Layers that have played with TAKARA-TOMY Drivers inevitably are damaged, increasing their burst resistance illegally.
Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Red Illegal Section Wrote:Homemade/Unofficial Stickers: Only stickers included with officially released Hasbro or TAKARA-TOMY products (or products licensed by these companies such as stickers by ensky for Beyblade Burst, or stickers included in Coro Coro magazines) may be used on your Beyblade. If a judge determines you have used homemade/unofficial stickers, you will be obligated to switch out the part for another version of the same part with no homemade/unofficial stickers applied. If you cannot, you will be given a match loss.
Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Green Permitted Section Wrote:Applying Nail Polish to Stickers: Applying a thin coat of nail polish to protect the stickers of your Beyblade for aesthetic purposes is permitted. However, if a judge determines you have applied a copious amount of nail polish to the point where it might significantly impact the weight of your Beyblade, you will be obligated to switch out the part for another version of the same part with no nail polish applied. If you cannot, you will be given a match loss.
Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Green Permitted Section Wrote:Marking Parts: Parts may be marked in order to differentiate parts from your opponent’s in the event of a double Burst Finish, or to maintain the orientation of your combination’s parts should it burst and need to be re-assembled. Stickers may be used to do this, but must follow the rules outlined under “Sticker Placement” above.
Alternatively, you may apply minor markings (single lines or dots) to them with a pen or marker. Marking parts in this manner is permitted, but you may not draw on your parts for aesthetic purposes. Other methods of marking not explicitly outlined here are not permitted and will be considered a “foreign substance” as defined by the section above.
Burst Format Rulebook - Hasbro Only Format Wrote:Hasbro Only Format
In this variant of Burst Format, the following equipment is legal for use:
✓ Legal:
Hasbro Energy Layers & Performance Tips
Both TAKARA-TOMY & Hasbro Launchers/Grips
Both TAKARA-TOMY Disks (that have been released by Hasbro) & Hasbro Forge Disks
TAKARA-TOMY Standard Type BeyStadium
✗ Illegal:
TAKARA-TOMY Layers & Drivers
Organizers’ Guide - Judging a Match Section Wrote:Judging a Match
You may also appoint other judges to assist you, which will be necessary if you are participating in your tournament. Appointed judges must fully understand the rules of play outlined in the format’s rulebook and the judging guidelines listed below:
Before the Match
1. Beyblade Selection
During this phase, ensure that players are positioned across from each other at the designated BeyStadium, with their backs turned. Bladers have 3 minutes to complete their selection.
2. Beyblade & Launcher Inspection
After a blader has announced they are set, judges must perform a Beyblade and Launcher inspection to ensure all parts are legal and have not been tampered with. First, disassemble the Beyblade if it is not already. Then, proceed with the inspection using the following guidelines:
[VIEW CHART IN THE ORGANIZERS’ GUIDE]
- Verify that parts are not fake. Parts must be produced by Hasbro or TAKARA-TOMY (or SONOKONG in the case of Plastics, HMS, and Metal Fight Beyblade).
- Verify that parts have not been tampered with. Any foreign substance applied to a Beyblade part other than those explicitly outlined in our rulebooks (for Burst Format specifically, minimal nail polish for stickers, minimal pen/marker for marking parts, or official stickers in their proper spots as defined by TAKARA-TOMY are permitted. See other rulebooks for additional format-specific rulings) are considered illegal.
- In Burst Format, Verify TAKARA-TOMY Layers & Drivers and Hasbro Energy Layers and Performance Tips are not and have not ever been mixed. TAKARA-TOMY Layers have teeth on their underside, while Hasbro’s have slopes. TAKARA-TOMY Drivers have slightly taller teeth on top of them than their Hasbro counterparts and will produce a tighter fit with Hasbro Energy Layers. And vice-versa with Hasbro Performance Tips; because of their shorter teeth, the fit with TAKARA-TOMY Layers will be looser. Even if the combination presented by a player does not mix brands, inspect the parts to ensure that they have not previously done so in other matches or testing. The slopes on Hasbro Energy Layers that have played with TAKARA-TOMY Drivers inevitably are damaged, increasing their burst resistance illegally.
- After completing the inspection of the Beyblade Parts, give them back to the player, unassembled.
- Test the number of rotations on their selected launcher (30+ Participants: Mandatory, 29 or less participants: Optional). If there is any more or less than the amount specified below, the player must change their launcher to one that has a legal number of rotations.
During the Match
- Once you have inspected the selected Beyblades and launchers of both players, have them turn around to face each other at the BeyStadium.
- Ensure that neither blader takes up more than half of the play area while positioning their launcher.
- Quickly ask bladers if they are ready before calling down “3–2–1 go shoot.” Bladers must launch as the word shoot is called.
- Always keep your eyes on the battle. Battles can end suddenly or be decided by a fraction of a second difference.
- During and after each round, ensure that players do not touch the BeyStadium.
- After each round, ensure that the orientation of the BeyStadium as it was when the players arrived and positioned themselves before the match. The BeyStadium–especially in Zero-G Format–can shift dramatically from round to round depending on the battle in play.
- After each round, players may not touch their Beyblades until the judge has announced the winner.
- In the case of Burst Format, a judge must inspect the winning Beyblade to ensure that it did not skip all of its teeth and remain intact. If this is the case the result of the round is reversed and the “losing” Beyblade is then considered the winner for the round. If it is found that a Layer has skipped all of its teeth and did not burst after the conclusion of a round, the player using that Layer must then replace it with another version of the same Layer. If the player cannot do this, they are given a match loss instead of a round loss.

New Forum: Beyblade Hobby Q&A!
- ~Mana~
- May. 09, 2017 7:17 PM
We've recently been reviewing the site and looking for ways that we can improve the overall quality-of-life for you guys when browsing through. At the moment, we feel that our existing "Ask a question, get an answer" thread is an area that could do with an overhaul; asking question after question in the same thread isn't efficient and, as much as we encourage looking back through the thread to see if a question has already been asked, it's not easy. There's 1260 pages after all!
So, as of today, we're closing our existing "Ask a question, get an answer" thread and opening a new Forum specifically for Questions & Answers!
Within this Forum, each question is fully deserving of it's own thread, so don't feel that your question isn't worth asking! Questions will no longer overlap in the same thread, and no question will be lost or unseen! We've also created tags for the thread creators to set on threads to show whether they are answered or unanswered, making it easier to see at a glance whether threads still need attention.
And naturally, the search bar and sort feature will wholeheartedly complement this. The search bar will now check thread titles, allowing you to easily find a previously asked question (much better than crawling through a 1260 page thread!), and the sort feature also allows you to filter out results based on whether a question has been answered or not! In the future, we'll also be looking into allowing thread creators to tag their questions with the type of topic being asked (anime, toyline, competitive play etc), allowing for even deeper question filtering!
We hope that you'll all make full use of this new Forum, and we'll be keeping a close eye on it to ensure that things are going smoothly!
Thanks everyone! Please look forward to our next update, coming this week! BeyDays season is almost upon us after all...

New Sub-Forum: WBO Tournament Reports!
- Kei
- Apr. 02, 2017 5:55 AM
When we launched the new version of the WBO last year on our 8th anniversary, included in that massive update were a few changes to the structure of the forums.
However, with this change we’ve realized now that there is no clear place for Organizers and members to share their experiences at WBO Organized Play events with the entire community in the forum of tournament reports! Posting in event threads doesn’t work so well because most people outside of those communities don’t necessarily look at those threads. So, the solution was simple: a Tournament Reports sub-forum! We have moved all existing tournament reports from the “Discuss worldbeyblade.org” forum to this new sub-forum contained within the main WBO Beyblade Tournaments category.
View the Tournament Reports Sub-Forum Now
Also, please take a look at the Tournament Report Forum Guidelines.
To celebrate the addition of this forum, @[Mitsu] prepared a brand new tournament report for a recent event in Toronto just on time! Check his report for WELCOME TO A&C GAMES IV!
In the future we plan to take a look at other ways to promote tournament reports (or specific threads in general) in different ways like in a box along the side of the index, so please look forward to that!
Tournament reports don’t necessarily have to be extremely long and complex: even just a summary, a stream of photos, or some battle clips compiled into a thread is great! If you write a report, make sure you encourage everyone else who participated to post their thoughts as well.
We hope that with this update all Organizers and tournament players will feel more encouraged to dive into and discuss what’s happening at WBO events around the world and that it’ll ultimately bring us all just a little bit closer together.
