Happy 9th anniversary, everyone! Over the many years we've shared at the WBO, we've made tons of memories both online and in person. Fellow Bladers who met at tournaments have, in some cases, become lifelong friends, and many of our Beyblades have led us to exciting victories! To celebrate the memories we've made as a community, it's time for the Favourite WBO Memory instagram contest:

Post Your Favourite WBO Memory on Instagram
From today until January 4th, 2018 @ 11:59pm EST, we want to hear about your favourite WBO memory! We encourage you to be creative with your interpretation of this theme: make it fit your own unique experience in the community! Not sure what to post about? Here are just a few ideas:
  • A silly photo of you and your Beyblade friends at a WBO tournament
  • A picture of a Beyblade you took home a special prize with
  • An image that reminds you of a fun moment you had browsing the WBO forum
  • A video of your most epic tournament victory
Contest Rules
One grand prize winner will be picked randomly at the end of the contest, and a committee panel of judges will determine two other winners who will earn a Bit Booster, B-100 Spriggan Requiem.0.Zt, and have their memory reposted on the @worldbeyblade Instagram account. Here are the few rules you have to follow to enter this contest:
  • Your entry must be posted on your Instagram account (so yes, you do need Instagram to participate!)

Burst Format Updates

[Image: 800px-Maximum-Garuda-Layer-mG-Beyblade-B...Banned.png]

IMPORTANT: Trial Ban – Maximum Garuda Layer
Given Maximum Garuda's immense dominance in WBO Organized Play events since being introduced this past July, the decision has been made to proceed with a trial ban of mG so that we can observe what the metagame would look like without it in play. This trial ban will last for approximately 10 Burst Format tournaments (in at least 3 separate regions). After the 10 tournaments have been completed, we will re-evaluate the status of the ban with the following being determining factors:

  • The Winning Combinations from each event
  • Take into consideration the impressions of any players who played in each event (please post your thoughts if you play in an event during this trial ban! The WBO Tournament Reports forum is a good place to do so)
  • Discussion in the community
  • Any new parts released since the beginning of the ban which might make mG less dominant

In the mean time, please also feel free to continue posting your thoughts on Maximum Garuda and any tests you might conduct in the Maximum Garuda Testing/Discussion thread!

[Image: 800px-Outer-Disk-Beyblade-Burst-WBO-OP-Banned.png]

IMPORTANT: The Ωuter Disk is Now Banned
Until further notice, the Ωuter Disk is now banned from all WBO Organized Play events. We will re-evaluate this ban when Ωuter becomes more easily obtainable.

In addition to dominating G2 and G3 tournaments in Japan, the Ωuter Disk has been proven to be a dominating force in the few WBO events it has been present at; it is undeniably the best Disk for Stamina in the game currently. However, because it is only available through Ωrichalcum Ωuter Ωcta in the RARE BEY GET BATTLE on the TAKARA-TOMY Beyblade Burst website/app, and because it has been proven to be much more difficult to win than αmaterios or βaldur, we have decided that for the sake of fairness to all players that the Disk will be banned until it becomes more readily available.

IMPORTANT: Burst Format: Mode Changes For Parts Which Require Disassembly – 1 Allowed Per Match
Parts which require disassembly to change their mode–like Alter Chronos or Legend Spriggan–may now be changed once per match at any time. This means that for example, you can change Legend Spriggan from left- to right-spin once per match. If two players wish to change modes at the same time, they must turn around and do so in secret before continuing the match.

We welcome feedback on this rule change once you've had a chance to try it in a WBO Organized Play event and will be evaluating how effective or fair it is moving forward. Our hope however is that it will make Attack types like Legend Spriggan slightly more viable, which is important for Burst Format.

This change currently only applies to Burst Format.

God Chip Use in Mandatory
We have clarified that the use of a God Chip in all Layers that accept them is mandatory.

Deck Format: Regular God Chips May Be Repeated
We have clarified that the repetition of regular God Chips in your Deck is permitted. Metal God Chips may not be repeated.

Deck Format: Non-Contact Bursts = 1 Point
Burst Finishes that occur without any contact with the opposing Beyblade are now worth 1 Point instead of 2.

Updates to All Rulebooks & Organizers’ Guide

IMPORTANT: Beyblade Selection: Parts Borrowed at Any Point Must be Announced
If a player does not own a part that they are using in a tournament battle and are borrowing it from someone else, it must be announced who they are borrowing from during the Beyblade Selection phase before the match begins regardless of when the part was borrowed.

Judges: When the Beyblade Selection phase begins, ask each player if they are borrowing parts or receiving help from another person. If one or both players are, you must inform them who is helping or lending parts to their opponent.

Players: If you are borrowing part(s) or receiving advice from someone, you must tell the judge who the person is when he or she asks you. Parts borrowed at any point during the event for future use must be announced as well. The exact part(s) do not need to be announced, just the person they are being borrowed from.

This update has been made to further clarify the new rule from our August 2017 update regarding receiving help before a match begins. There is no longer any ambiguity regarding whether or not parts borrowed before the Beyblade Selection phase begins need to be announced or not: they do.

Organizers’ Guide Updates

New Launchers Added to Rotation Chart
We have added in the proper number of launcher rotations for the BeyLauncher LR (7.5) and the Digital Sword launcher (TBD) to the chart in the Organizers’ Guide.

Rule Updates Overview

  • IMPORTANT: Deathscyther & Dark Deathscyther Layers Unbanned
  • IMPORTANT: Burst Format KO Ruling Changes
  • Painting/Decorating Launchers, Grips, and Accessories Clarification

Burst Format Updates

IMPORTANT: Deathscyther & Dark Deathscyther Layers Unbanned
Effective immediately, the Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther Layers are now unbanned and legal for use in Burst Format tournaments.

After banning Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther back in May, Beyblade Burst has underwent some of the most dramatic changes in its history to date with the newest releases in the God Layer System finally overtaking parts that had been dominant for well over a year. The ban of Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther served to help make this progression faster by forcing players to look forward and find new strategies, but now with the new and powerful parts of the God Layer System running rampant throughout our tournaments, the time now seems right to unban Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther.

We believe that both parts no longer pose the same threat that they once did, but look forward to seeing how you all utilize them (if at all)! Please feel free to post tests in the Burst Customizations forum as well.

IMPORTANT: Burst Format KO Ruling Changes
Burst Format Rulebook - Gameplay Appendix: Knocked-Out Wrote:A Beyblade is now considered knocked-out when it exits the play area. Beyblades that bounce back into the stadium after exiting the play area are still considered knocked-out.

However, if a Beyblade exits the play area and bounces back in before touching the opposing Beyblade in any fashion, the round will continue.

This means that if a Beyblade hits the back wall of the stadium cover in one of the three exits of the TAKARA-TOMY BeyStadium Standard Type and immediately bounces back in, it will have already been considered knocked-out unless it did so before touching the opposing Beyblade.

Previously, our rules stated that a Beyblade is considered knocked-out when "it exists the play area and cannot return". The key here is essentially the removal of the phrase "cannot return"; if a Beyblade exits the stadium after touching the opposing Beyblade in any fashion, it is considered knocked-out.

This particular update in reality will likely not have a dramatic effect on most tournaments, as was demonstrated to us in the two most recent Toronto tournaments where we gave it a trial run; it only happened a handful of times. However, even if only slight, what it does do it make Attack types in Burst Format just a little bit more viable competitively.

Updates to All Rulebooks

Painting/Decorating Launchers, Grips, and Accessories Clarification
All Rulebooks Wrote:Launchers, Grips, and Accessories may be painted or decorated for aesthetic purposes only. Any paint or decoration added must not affect the performance or originally intended functions or gimmicks of the part and should not obstruct your opponent’s ability to launch properly in any way. If a judge determines your launcher, grip, or accessory has been modified to the point of illegality due to such modifications, they may tell you to you switch to a new version of that same part.

We realized that some of the current verbiage in our rulebooks was slightly vague as it only mentioned "parts", so we have now added the above ruling to each rulebook in order to clarify that painting/decorating of launcher, grips, and accessories is permitted to the above degree.

And once again, thank you to everyone who participated in our BeyDays festivities! Here's to next year!
We have some exciting news to announce today! In collaboration with @[TrainiacJ], the WBO will now be producing Beyblade Reviews for our Youtube Channel, Beyblade Channel!

Check out our first review below for B-86 Starter Legend Spriggan.7.Mr:

Our goal here is to provide succinct and informative (in terms of competitive relevancy) reviews for Beyblades, a type of video which we felt–generally speaking–is currently underrepresented on Youtube. And at the same time, we feel that this type of video is reflective of our goals in promoting Beyblade on a competitive level worldwide.

For the time being, we will be focusing on producing reviews for the newest releases in the Beyblade Burst series. We hope you all look forward to more reviews in the coming months. If you liked the video, please be sure to leave a like it and Subscribe to Beyblade Channel to be sure you don’t miss any of our future videos!

Finally, huge thank you to TrainiacJ for donating his time and making this possible in the first place! And also to @[juncction] for the above photo of Legend Spriggan (and your help with our social media)! We are working on a new approach to our idea of the "Contributors" user group and will be adding both of you soon to recognize your contributions to the team.

Outlined below are several important new ruling additions, updates, and clarifications to all WBO Organized Play rulebooks and the Organizers' Guide. View all WBO Organized Play Rules & Resources here, a summary of the changes below:

Rule Updates Overview

  • IMPORTANT: Maximum Garuda God Chip Restrictions
  • Disassembling or Swapping Layer Components is Illegal
  • Receiving Help Before a Match: Must be Announced
  • Judge Neutrality: Advice Restrictions
  • Incorrect Seeding Issues & ‘Random’ Seeding Clarification
  • Dropped Participants Clarification
  • Event Proposals: Required Interest Now 4 Players Minimum

Burst Format Updates

IMPORTANT: Maximum Garuda God Chip Restrictions
Effective immediately, the Maximum Garuda Layer in Beyblade Burst cannot be used with any other God Chip except for the default God Chip that comes with stock mG–Maximum Garuda.8F.Fl from B-87–or the soon to be released B-91 Metal God Chip.

It was recently announced by TAKARA-TOMY that they would be implementing this same change after the discovery of a particular mold of God Chip fitting much, much tighter with other parts than other molds. You can read more about the different molds of God Chips here.

Disassembling or Swapping Layer Components is Illegal
It is now officially illegal to disassemble all Beyblade Burst Layers or swap components between them. This means that you may not, for example, take the clear ‘over Layer’ from one Layer such as Victory Valkyrie and swap it with one from another Layer.

Updates to All Rulebooks

Receiving Help Before a Match: Must be Announced
To allow for an even playing field where both players have a fair chance of knowing what they are up against, it is now mandatory for players to announce to the judge and their opponent if they are receiving advice or parts from someone else during the Beyblade Selection phase of a match.

We don’t want to discourage communication between players at our events, but the disadvantage created for Bladers  playing someone who they don’t know are receiving advice or parts from someone else is apparent. If your opponent is receiving help, you can’t make an informed Beyblade selection if you’re making that decision based on what you know solely about your opponent, and not based on what you know about the person helping them.

Beyblade & Launcher Presentation
Like Deck Format, players are now required to present both their Beyblade and Launcher to their opponent before the first round of every match.

Beyblades (with mode changes that do not require disassembly) and Launchers with multiple spin directions available may be changed after the presentation phase.

Players do not need to present their Beyblade or launcher prior to subsequent rounds in the same match.

Organizers' Guide Updates

Judge Neutrality: Advice Restrictions
This almost goes without saying, but we have added additional clarification to the Organizers’ Guide for judges regarding neutrality. All WBO Organized Play judges are expected to exert a neutral, unbiased stance for everything that may occur during any given match.

✗ Judges May Not
Give any advice to either player as it pertains to the battle itself. Some examples of this include combo selection advice or telling one player to “weak launch” to have a better chance of winning.

✓ Judges May
Give technical equipment-related advice to players. Some examples of this include an observation that something may be broken with their launcher, if their Beyblade is not properly attached prior to the beginning of a round, and so forth.

Incorrect Seeding Issues & ‘Random’ Seeding Clarification
After a recent event in which the seeding was handled incorrectly by accident, we have revised our Organizers’ Guide to specify precisely what is meant by “random seeding” and expanded slightly upon why seeding is incredibly important. You can read the full update in the section below, but here is a quote from the tournament report I wrote outlining why proper seeding is paramount:

Incorrect Seeding Issues (Click to View)

While there is unfortunately some room for interpretation currently as the BeyPoint System Queue is not up to date yet, we expect Organizers to make smart decisions about where certain players are seeded; the most obvious and clear cut being that returning players should not be given the bottom seed in an event ahead of new players.

Dropped Participants Clarification
One thing which has never really been clear in our rules is how Organizers should deal with players who–for one reason or another–drop from tournaments and have to leave before their matches have been completed. We have now addressed this in the Organizers’ Guide with specific rulings

For all formats, if a player drops before the conclusion of the event their battles played will be ultimately processed into the rankings as normal. However, for the following formats:

Round Robin & Block Round Robin
If a player drops from an event before completing all of their matches in a Round Robin-based event, they will be given "losses" for every match both played and unplayed.

What this means is that the matches the dropped player has played will be counted for the WBO Rankings, but will all be considered "losses" within the context of the event. If someone wins four matches in an eight-player round robin and drops, they'll get the four wins (for the matches played) and three losses (for the matches missed) within the WBO Rankings, but will receive seven losses within the context of the tournament. This will ensure that the flow of the tournament is not disrupted in any way; players who lost to the player that dropped won't be at a disadvantage compared to the players who didn't and get free wins as a result.

Swiss Format
If a player drops from a Swiss tournament, they will retain their wins but receive match losses for the remainder of the tournament. Players who drop from a Swiss event will not be eligible for additional Credits beyond the +1 Participation Credit due to the greater inconvenience it places on the tournament organizer and all participants in comparison to other formats.

However for all formats, if a player stays to complete their round robin/swiss round matches and makes the finals, they will only be given losses for their battles in the finals.

To help avoid the possibility of participants dropping from your event, we encourage all Organziers to announce the estimated length of the tournament before it begins.

Event Proposals: Required Interest Now 4 Players Minimum
The minimum required number of confirmed participants for members planning to schedule an event and become an Organizer is now 4. However, anybody proposing an event with less than 8 participants (the threshold where your event becomes eligible for ranked status, prize reimbursement, etc), must be doing so with the intention of trying to gather more participants and to grow their community.

Submit Social Media Content, Help Your Community Grow!
We understand that the best way to get your event noticed is to have it posted in our official WBO Beyblade Tournaments forum, and hope that this change will allow for more communities to host events and grow.

To allow us to help you do this, remember that all Club Format events are required to submit a group photo. This photo, along with any other photos or video you can submit to us to post on our social media are one way we can help promote your community after each of your events. This also applies to all Organizers in general, regardless of the size of your event!

Feedback?
If you have any feedback on these particular changes, or any questions or suggestions for further adjustments or additions, please post your thoughts below or in the WBO Organized Play Rules thread.

Flash! HMS & Plastics Remembrance 2017 is here, and we're shaking it up!

Breaking with the tradition of past years, our celebration of the series that started it all will go on for not just one weekend or even two: this year's HMS and Plastics Remembrance will span four weekends lasting from July 15 to August 6!

Some things never change, though, such as the extra +1 credit for participants of HMS and Plastic events during the celebratory period. For anyone planning to attend multiple old school events, this will be a great chance to rack up those credits!

As of now, these areas will be holding events as part of HMS & PLA Remembrance:

– Saturday, July 15th –

[Image: us.png] - Bey-ja Vu at Wasena Park in Roanoke, VA

– Sunday, July 16th –

[Image: us.png] - wot is plastic? at FDR Park in Philadelphia, PA

– Sunday, July 16th –

[Image: in.png] - Galaxy Turbo Twister at Dhakuria Lake in Kolkata, India

– Saturday, July 29th –

[Image: ca.png] - PLASTIC'S NOT DEAD! 4 at High Park in Toronto, ON

- Saturday, August 12th -

[Image: gb.png] - Wait, this isn't Burst?! at Regent's Park in London, UK

(We'll update this list and feature new events here as they're approved, so get on it, Organizers! :P)

And as if BeyDays wasn't long enough past...

[align=center][Image: beylotto.png]

It's time for another BeyLotto! Every member who participates in a HMS or Plastic Format event between July 15th and August 6th will be entered. Unlike that of BeyDays, though, this one is stacked (literally) with Beyblades from the first generation...

  • Following in TAKARA-TOMY’s footsteps, we have decided that effective May 15th, the Dark Deathscyther and Deathscyther Layers are now banned from Burst Format in WBO Organized Play Events. Both Layers have been banned due to their extreme overall power, versatility, and unhealthy influence on the diversity of Burst Format. These bans will be reviewed as new products are released. To help our continued review of these parts easier, we encourage everyone to continue testing with them and posting results in the Burst Customizations forum. However, for the time being we are optimistic that their absence from the game will allow for new parts and strategies to shine that may not have been viable before. Note: this ban does not include Hasbro’s Dark Doomscizor or Doomscizor Energy Layers.
  • Foreign Substance - Nail Polish Clarification: We have added clarification stating that it is legal to apply a thin coat of nail polish to the stickers of your Beyblades for aesthetic purposes to protect them.
  • Foreign Substance - Marking Parts Clarification: We have added clarification stating that making small marks on parts with pen/marker for the purpose of identification and being able to maintain parts orientation in the event of your Beyblade bursting/disassembling during a round is legal.
  • Homemade/Unofficial Stickers: We have added clarification that only stickers included with officially released or licensed by Hasbro or TAKARA-TOMY (and SONO KONG in the case of Plastics/HMS/MFB) may be used on your Beyblade.
  • Sticker Placement: We have added clarification regarding where stickers may be placed on your Beyblades. Generally speaking, you must follow the positioning as is outlined with the instructions included in each product. For more precise details, see the rulebooks or description below.
  • Brand Incompatibility (Burst Format): We have added clarification regarding the usage of parts that have been previously mixed with other brands. This means you cannot use a Hasbro Energy Layer in WBO Organized Play if it has been previously used with a TAKARA-TOMY Driver in testing or free-play and vice-versa with TAKARA-TOMY Layers and Hasbro Performance Tips. Particularly in the case of using a Hasbro Energy Layer that has been forced to fit on a TT Driver with a Hasbro Driver again, a higher burst resistance is created as a result of the damage that is inevitably created by forcing it onto a TT Driver previously.
  • Hasbro Burst Format: This was made official a while back, but we have now added a section to the Burst Format Rulebook outlining the rules.
  • Organizers’ Guide - Beyblade Inspection: We have made some significant structural updates and additions to the “Judging a Match” section. It is now split into two major sections: “Before the Match” and “During the Match”. There are clearer and more detailed instructions and expectations for judges regarding Beyblade selection and inspection contained within the “Before the Match” section. All organizers, judges, and players should read the detailed description below or in the Organizers’ Guide before their next event.

You can find the exact wording included in the rulebooks below. There may be slight variations in these descriptions depending on the format. Please reference the full rulebooks for each format.

’Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Section’ Wrote:Banned Layers: Deathscyther & Dark Deathscyther
The Layers Deathscyther & Dark Deathscyther are currently banned from use in World Beyblade Organization events due to their extreme overall power, versatility, and unhealthy influence on the diversity of Burst Format.

These bans will be reviewed as new products are released. Note: this ban does not include Hasbro’s Dark Doomscizor or Doomscizor Energy Layers.

’All Rulebooks - Legal Equipment Red Illegal Section’ Wrote:Foreign Substances: Beyblade parts cannot be painted, coated, or physically modified in any way except in the methods explicitly outlined in the green section below. Bladers who intentionally modify the performance illegally of their equipment will be disqualified and potentially banned from future WBO events.

Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Red Illegal Section’ Wrote:Sticker Placement: Stickers cannot be placed anywhere where two parts of the Beyblade come into contact with each other. You must respect the legal sticker positioning as instructed by TAKARA-TOMY in each Beyblade Starter and Booster product. In other words, these are the only placements accepted: for Layers, follow the sticker guide of that specific Layer; for the Disk, apply star stickers only on the bottom, outward ring, not inner, and ideally just on the embossed stars; for the Driver, only on the small center with the embossed letter.

As the only exception to this rule, you may place one star sticker on the top of a Layer near the center and on the outward perimeter on the bottom of a Driver for identification purposes.

Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Red Illegal Section Wrote:Brand Incompatibility: Hasbro Energy Layers cannot be used with Takara-Tomy Drivers, and Takara-Tomy Layers cannot be used with Hasbro Performance Tips.

This applies to official battles in WBO events, and parts previously used in testing in a mixed brand combination. The slopes on Hasbro Energy Layers that have played with TAKARA-TOMY Drivers inevitably are damaged, increasing their burst resistance illegally.

Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Red Illegal Section Wrote:Homemade/Unofficial Stickers: Only stickers included with officially released Hasbro or TAKARA-TOMY products (or products licensed by these companies such as stickers by ensky for Beyblade Burst, or stickers included in Coro Coro magazines) may be used on your Beyblade. If a judge determines you have used homemade/unofficial stickers, you will be obligated to switch out the part for another version of the same part with no homemade/unofficial stickers applied. If you cannot, you will be given a match loss.

Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Green Permitted Section Wrote:Applying Nail Polish to Stickers: Applying a thin coat of nail polish to protect the stickers of your Beyblade for aesthetic purposes is permitted. However, if a judge determines you have applied a copious amount of nail polish to the point where it might significantly impact the weight of your Beyblade, you will be obligated to switch out the part for another version of the same part with no nail polish applied. If you cannot, you will be given a match loss.

Burst Format Rulebook - Legal Equipment Green Permitted Section Wrote:Marking Parts: Parts may be marked in order to differentiate parts from your opponent’s in the event of a double Burst Finish, or to maintain the orientation of your combination’s parts should it burst and need to be re-assembled. Stickers may be used to do this, but must follow the rules outlined under “Sticker Placement” above.

Alternatively, you may apply minor markings (single lines or dots) to them with a pen or marker. Marking parts in this manner is permitted, but you may not draw on your parts for aesthetic purposes. Other methods of marking not explicitly outlined here are not permitted and will be considered a “foreign substance” as defined by the section above.

Burst Format Rulebook - Hasbro Only Format Wrote:Hasbro Only Format
In this variant of Burst Format, the following equipment is legal for use:

✓ Legal:
Hasbro Energy Layers & Performance Tips
Both TAKARA-TOMY & Hasbro Launchers/Grips
Both TAKARA-TOMY Disks (that have been released by Hasbro) & Hasbro Forge Disks
TAKARA-TOMY Standard Type BeyStadium

✗ Illegal:
TAKARA-TOMY Layers & Drivers

Organizers’ Guide - Judging a Match Section Wrote:Judging a Match
You may also appoint other judges to assist you, which will be necessary if you are participating in your tournament. Appointed judges must fully understand the rules of play outlined in the format’s rulebook and the judging guidelines listed below:

Before the Match

1. Beyblade Selection
During this phase, ensure that players are positioned across from each other at the designated BeyStadium, with their backs turned. Bladers have 3 minutes to complete their selection.

2. Beyblade & Launcher Inspection
After a blader has announced they are set, judges must perform a Beyblade and Launcher inspection to ensure all parts are legal and have not been tampered with. First, disassemble the Beyblade if it is not already. Then, proceed with the inspection using the following guidelines:
  • Verify that parts are not fake. Parts must be produced by Hasbro or TAKARA-TOMY (or SONOKONG in the case of Plastics, HMS, and Metal Fight Beyblade).
  • Verify that parts have not been tampered with. Any foreign substance applied to a Beyblade part other than those explicitly outlined in our rulebooks (for Burst Format specifically, minimal nail polish for stickers, minimal pen/marker for marking parts, or official stickers in their proper spots as defined by TAKARA-TOMY are permitted. See other rulebooks for additional format-specific rulings) are considered illegal.
  • In Burst Format, Verify TAKARA-TOMY Layers & Drivers and Hasbro Energy Layers and Performance Tips are not and have not ever been mixed. TAKARA-TOMY Layers have teeth on their underside, while Hasbro’s have slopes. TAKARA-TOMY Drivers have slightly taller teeth on top of them than their Hasbro counterparts and will produce a tighter fit with Hasbro Energy Layers. And vice-versa with Hasbro Performance Tips; because of their shorter teeth, the fit with TAKARA-TOMY Layers will be looser. Even if the combination presented by a player does not mix brands, inspect the parts to ensure that they have not previously done so in other matches or testing. The slopes on Hasbro Energy Layers that have played with TAKARA-TOMY Drivers inevitably are damaged, increasing their burst resistance illegally.
  • After completing the inspection of the Beyblade Parts, give them back to the player, unassembled.
  • Test the number of rotations on their selected launcher (30+ Participants: Mandatory, 29 or less participants: Optional). If there is any more or less than the amount specified below, the player must change their launcher to one that has a legal number of rotations.
[VIEW CHART IN THE ORGANIZERS’ GUIDE]

During the Match
  • Once you have inspected the selected Beyblades and launchers of both players, have them turn around to face each other at the BeyStadium.
  • Ensure that neither blader takes up more than half of the play area while positioning their launcher.
  • Quickly ask bladers if they are ready before calling down “3–2–1 go shoot.” Bladers must launch as the word shoot is called.
  • Always keep your eyes on the battle. Battles can end suddenly or be decided by a fraction of a second difference.
  • During and after each round, ensure that players do not touch the BeyStadium.
  • After each round, ensure that the orientation of the BeyStadium as it was when the players arrived and positioned themselves before the match. The BeyStadium–especially in Zero-G Format–can shift dramatically from round to round depending on the battle in play.
  • After each round, players may not touch their Beyblades until the judge has announced the winner.
  • In the case of Burst Format, a judge must inspect the winning Beyblade to ensure that it did not skip all of its teeth and remain intact. If this is the case the result of the round is reversed and the “losing” Beyblade is then considered the winner for the round. If it is found that a Layer has skipped all of its teeth and did not burst after the conclusion of a round, the player using that Layer must then replace it with another version of the same Layer. If the player cannot do this, they are given a match loss instead of a round loss.

Ruling Updates: Rule Clarifications & Deathscyther/Dark Deathscyther Ban

New Forum: Beyblade Hobby Q&A!

  • ~Mana~
  • May. 09, 2017  7:17 PM
We've recently been reviewing the site and looking for ways that we can improve the overall quality-of-life for you guys when browsing through. At the moment, we feel that our existing "Ask a question, get an answer" thread is an area that could do with an overhaul; asking question after question in the same thread isn't efficient and, as much as we encourage looking back through the thread to see if a question has already been asked, it's not easy. There's 1260 pages after all!

So, as of today, we're closing our existing "Ask a question, get an answer" thread and opening a new Forum specifically for Questions & Answers!

Within this Forum, each question is fully deserving of it's own thread, so don't feel that your question isn't worth asking! Questions will no longer overlap in the same thread, and no question will be lost or unseen! We've also created tags for the thread creators to set on threads to show whether they are answered or unanswered, making it easier to see at a glance whether threads still need attention.

And naturally, the search bar and sort feature will wholeheartedly complement this. The search bar will now check thread titles, allowing you to easily find a previously asked question (much better than crawling through a 1260 page thread!), and the sort feature also allows you to filter out results based on whether a question has been answered or not! In the future, we'll also be looking into allowing thread creators to tag their questions with the type of topic being asked (anime, toyline, competitive play etc), allowing for even deeper question filtering!

We hope that you'll all make full use of this new Forum, and we'll be keeping a close eye on it to ensure that things are going smoothly!

Thanks everyone! Please look forward to our next update, coming this week! BeyDays season is almost upon us after all...

New Sub-Forum: WBO Tournament Reports!

  • Kei
  • Apr. 02, 2017  5:55 AM
When we launched the new version of the WBO last year on our 8th anniversary, included in that massive update were a few changes to the structure of the forums.

However, with this change we’ve realized now that there is no clear place for Organizers and members to share their experiences at WBO Organized Play events with the entire community in the forum of tournament reports! Posting in event threads doesn’t work so well because most people outside of those communities don’t necessarily look at those threads. So, the solution was simple: a Tournament Reports sub-forum! We have moved all existing tournament reports from the “Discuss worldbeyblade.org” forum to this new sub-forum contained within the main WBO Beyblade Tournaments category.

View the Tournament Reports Sub-Forum Now

Also, please take a look at the Tournament Report Forum Guidelines.

To celebrate the addition of this forum, @[Mitsu] prepared a brand new tournament report for a recent event in Toronto just on time! Check his report for WELCOME TO A&C GAMES IV!

In the future we plan to take a look at other ways to promote tournament reports (or specific threads in general) in different ways like in a box along the side of the index, so please look forward to that!

Tournament reports don’t necessarily have to be extremely long and complex: even just a summary, a stream of photos, or some battle clips compiled into a thread is great! If you write a report, make sure you encourage everyone else who participated to post their thoughts as well.

We hope that with this update all Organizers and tournament players will feel more encouraged to dive into and discuss what’s happening at WBO events around the world and that it’ll ultimately bring us all just a little bit closer together.

Good luck everyone!
As a result of recent discussions over the past couple months, we have now implemented some important new ruling additions, updates, and clarifications to all WBO Organized Play rulebooks and the Organizers' Guide. View all WBO Organized Play Rules & Resources here, and a summary of the changes below:

  • Round Result Clarifications: Bladers must now refrain from touching their Beyblades until the judge has announced the winner of the round. In Burst Format specifically, judges must inspect the winning Beyblade to ensure that it is not in a position where it has skipped all of its teeth and should have bursted. If this is the case the result of the round is reversed and the “losing” Beyblade is then considered the winner of that round.

If it is found that a Layer has skipped all of its teeth and did not burst after the conclusion of a round, the player using that Layer must then replace it with another version of the same Layer. If the player cannot do this, they are given a match loss.

This rule is being introduced primarily to combat the known issues with some Dark Deathscyther Layers (like B-61 blue/yellow D2s and the BG-05 red D2) and the new Mad Minoboros Layer, however the rulebooks do not explicitly mention these Layers because this rule is meant to be applied universally for the sake of consistency.

Bladers and spectators must also refrain from announcing their own opinion after each round until the judge has rendered their decision.

  • Participant Capping Clarification: We have clarified in the Organizers' Guide that capping the number of participants on your event is not permitted for the sake of inclusiveness to all WBO members. This means that you may not intentionally host Club Format events currently. We will explore the possibility of allowing for Club Format events to be hosted intentionally in a limited number, so please stay tuned.

  • Tiebreak Battles and Credits Clarification: We clarified that the battles won and lost for tiebreak battles do not count towards the final overall record used when determining if a blader will receive the majority win Credit or not.

This clarification is included in a rather extensive section we added to the Organizers’ Guide outlining the rules for Credits for Blader Rewards in WBO Organized Play events.

  • Club Format Victor Clarification: We added in clarification stating that the victor of a Club Format event in Unranked Round Robin Deck Format is determined by the final overall records at the end of the round robin. There is no finals technically speaking, unless there is a tie for the top spot at the end of the round robin (this also applies to the Winning Streak Format). See the descriptions below or the Organizers' Guide for more details.

  • Repeating Faces and Zero-G/Shogun Steel Chrome/Warrior Wheels in all Metal Fight Deck Formats: We clarified that using the same Regular Face or Stone Face multiple times within your Deck for all MFB Deck Formats (MFB, Limited, Zero-G) is OK. Metal Faces and Metal Stone Faces of all kinds may not be repeated. Zero-G/Shogun Steel Chrome/Warrior Wheels may be repeated, but within the same combo.

You can find the exact wording included in the rulebooks below:

All Rulebooks - Round Results Wrote:After each round, bladers must refrain from touching their Beyblade until the judge has announced the winner.

Both bladers and all spectators must also refrain from influencing the judge’s decision by announcing their own opinion before the judge has rendered theirs.

Burst Format Rulebook - Round Results Wrote:After each round, bladers must refrain from touching their Beyblade until the judge has announced the winner.

Judges must inspect the winning Beyblade to ensure that it is not in a position where it has skipped all of its teeth and should have bursted.

Both bladers and all spectators must also refrain from influencing the judges decision by announcing their own opinion before the judge has rendered theirs.

Organizers Guide - Participants Wrote:Most WBO formats require a minimum of eight participants. Before you schedule a tournament, you should have confirmed interest from at least eight people. However, if at least eight participants confirm, and then less than that show up, you can still host Club Format with between 4-7 participants. See the "Special Formats" section below for more details.

It is not permitted to place a cap on the number of participants in any event.

Organizers Guide - Club Format Wrote:In the event that less than eight players show up for an event, this format allows for groups of 4-7 Bladers to play in free-to-enter, unranked tournaments. Prize reimbursement is not provided for these events, but the winners of each event have an opportunity to earn a Credit and a series of special Club Format Bits.

Organizers Guide - Club Format Wrote:Unranked Winning Streak Format: Players line up and compete is single round BeyBattles (one at a time) for 20 minutes. After the first round (match up is determined by BeyRank as described below or randomly), the winner stays at the stadium, loser goes to the back of the line and the winner plays the next person in line. 30 seconds maximum for both players to choose combinations before each round. At the end of the 20 minutes, the player with the most round wins is the victor. If there is a tie, a final playoff tiebreak match (best 3 of 5 using standard WBO tournament match rules) will be played to determine the victor.

Unranked Round Robin Deck Format: Each player in the event plays each other once using the regular Deck Format rules specified here in the Organizers’ Guide. At the end of the round robin, the player with the best overall record is the victor. If there is a tie, a final playoff tiebreak match (using standard Deck Format rules) will be played to determine the victor.

Organizers Guide - Credits Wrote:Credits are our way of rewarding Bladers for participating in or hosting WBO sanctioned events in their communities. Bladers can trade their credits in for various rewards, like Bit Boosters and physical Beyblade prizes!

Earning Credits
There are currently six ways to earn credits from an event:

[SEE CHART IN ORGANIZERS’ GUIDE]

Weekly Credit Limit
Bladers can only earn a maximum of eight credits per week. Any credits earned above that will not be counted. This restriction may be lifted during special events, such as BeyDays.

Tiebreak Battles & Credits
Battles won or lost during tiebreak battles do not count towards the final record used to determine eligibility for the Majority Win Credit.

Credits are added manually by the WBO Committee when a tournament is processed, so if a blader is missing a few earned credits from an unprocessed event, don’t worry, they’ll be awarded soon!

Please check the BeyPoint Queue if you are unsure whether or not a tournament has been processed.

Awarding Credits in the Spreadsheet
As an organizer, you are expected to list each participant’s earned credits in your Tournament Results Submission Sheet. Please ensure that you are listing each individual condition met within the sheet, and totalling the number of credits next to that list.

An example of a completed entry can be seen below:

[SEE EXAMPLE IN ORGANIZERS’ GUIDE]

Redeeming Credits for Bits & Prizes
Credits can be redeemed for both physical prizes and Bit Boosters. Bladers can redeem their credits by contacting a WBO Committee member with their choice of prize from the Blader Rewards list, alongside their name, address, and phone number. If requesting a Bit Booster, just send your Bit Booster choice.

Please ensure you have enough credits for the prize you are requesting by checking the number in your profile.

Metal Fight & Zero-G Format Rulebooks - Deck Format Wrote:During deck building, you build up to 3 Beyblades with no repeated parts that will make up your deck. Zero-G/Shogun Steel Chrome/Warrior Wheels are exempt from this rule and may be repeated within the same combo. Regular Faces and Stone Faces are also exempt from this rule in general.

Remember, this giveaway is only open to Passport Holders. If you hold one of these, simply post in this thread once for a chance to win! If not, your post will unfortunately be deleted.

But that's not all! We'll even give the winner a Bit Booster of their choosing! .. or try one of our newer Bit Boosters!:
This Beyblade giveaway will run until February 28, 2017, 11:59:59 EST. Entries after that date/time will not be entered. The winners will be announced shortly after the closing date and will have their prize shipped to them free of charge!

Good luck everyone!
It looks like we do have the worst marketing team in both of the biggest Beyblade companies, because we just now learn that a white recolour of the Burst version of Dragoon Storm Wing Xtreme will be released as a wbba.-store exclusive on March 4th!

The box will feature an old picture of Takao, like Dranzer S's box did but with Kai. It will just be a Booster, therefore you still need Lost Longinus's BeyLauncher L to be able to launch it.

After much deliberation sorting through all those Beyblade Wiki drafts (thanks again so much!) and much time spent reading and replying to all those private messages, the results are finally ready!

But first, let's see what the answers to those damn questions were!

  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: Which Face Contest received the lowest number of entries? Face Contest: MFB Opening Karaoke
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: Which Face Contest received the most entries? Face Contest: Design a Metal Fight Beyblade... again!
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: Name at least 4 entities we collaborated with in the past 8 years. Many, many options, but the best ones are: EARTHBEND, Rising Stars Games, Toywiz, conventions, etc. People such as Zankye, dimsum2u, etc. were accepted.
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: Name all sprites we used as forum icons.  Pegasis and Big Bang Pegasis.
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: What is many Bladers' favorite song for Beyblade AMVs? EARTHBEND's "Too Many Stars". Oddly, nobody got this question right, even though some of you named EARTHBEND as an entity and even when I specified that it had to be a fact found on worldbeyblade.org, as the task mentioned.
  • Find the fact on the WBO's Instagram account: Which of our Instagram posts has the most likes? The gold Dragoon S Burst Ver. scans, with over 140 likes.
Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: Whose writing was the color of Yggdrasil? Takeru, who wrote in green.
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: What had Anubis gifted Bey Brad? The Carbon Tempst, a very cool custom grip.
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: Who built a real-life Cyber Dranzer? Trick question since we wanted all names, which are, as far as we know: dio, Captain Chris and Cannon.
  • Find the fact on Beyblade Wiki: Which three articles were the most visited in November 2016? Gingka Hagane, Ryuga and Kai Hiwatari.
  • Find the fact on Beyblade Wiki: What is Kai and Dranzer's unlucky number in the anime? Officially 48, but some people pointed out 49 too, so we accepted both.
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: Who created Beyblade? Osamu Mashimo.
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: This composer for Bakuten Shoot Beyblade also worked on an infamous Japanese RPG. Yoshihisa Hirano.
  • Find the fact on worldbeyblade.org: Which WBO Committee member has been on the team the longest? Kei... and Blader DJ?! Kei alone was accepted too hah.
  • Find the fact on Beyblade Wiki: As of November 2016, what single letters are yet to be used for Forge Discs? E,Q,X,Y,Z
  • Find the fact on Takafumi Adachi's websites: When did Metal Fight Beyblade author Takafumi Adachi switch to illustrating digitally? When he started drawing Zero-G.
  • Find the fact on Takafumi Adachi's websites: When asked the question “Is Ryuuga alive or dead?” by fans, how did Metal Fight Beyblade author Takafumi Adachi respond? He actually answered that question twice, differently, so we accepted both "It looked like it", "In the manga he is still alive", "I don't know", etc.
  • Find the fact on Takafumi Adachi's websites: Which Metal Fight Beyblade characters did author Takafumi Adachi say were his favorite to draw? Ginga, Kyouya and Ryuuga

We're hoping that not too many of you are biting your fingers from how close you could have been to getting those answers right. At least, now you have got a full year to discover some old, classic topics and posts as well as get familiar with Beyblade Wiki and all of our assets. You know how it works now!

Good luck everybody!
For our seventh anniversary, we changed our logo. For our eighth, we changed everything else to match.

We’re not just unveiling a radical mobile-responsive redesign of our site, or just launching new tournament formats and resources for players and organizers, or just giving away/making you fight for tons of rare Beyblade gear.

(Although we are doing all of those things.)

We’re also building a WBO for bladers who haven’t yet launched their first bey. For fans who are going to watch the new anime and fall in love with the idea of a world where they can go to tournaments, meet rivals and fight intense battles.

That desire was what drove me to create the WBO in the first place, and it's what drove us to undertake this ambitious relaunch. While working with Takafumi on our new characters (cool, huh?), he said to me: “Beyblade... and another hobby toys are the best tool of peace and smile of all peoples, I believe.”

Unfortunately, it's impossible to not mention that we were down for a very long time, and some parts of the site are still buggy or unfinished. Battles and awards will be back on your profiles soon, promise! In the meantime, please enjoy the giant bio space where you can write anything you want and link to as much stuff as you want. :) I really appreciate your patience as we continue polishing out the rough edges.

But this isn't the finish line for us; it's just the start. You won't be waiting eight years to see big improvements. Actually, you won't even be waiting eight weeks! The whole purpose of this redesign was to give us a platform we could easily, rapidly build upon in the future.

Welcome to the new WBO.

To the peace and smiles of all bladers,

2016 isn't complete without a new Scavenger Hunt to celebrate the World Beyblade Organization's 8th anniversary!

What's a WBO Scavenger Hunt? You'll find below a list of challenges to do and random questions to answer. Depending on how many of those tasks you did properly or answered correctly, you rank your score among all other participants and the Members with the highest scores win prizes! However, even if you don't have enough for a physical prize, it's almost guaranteed that you will win Face Boosters!

To add points to your score, send a private message to Kai-V with the proof of your achieved tasks. Please follow these rules though:
- Try to limit the number of messages you send. Wait until you are able to submit a few things at once rather than sending multiple small private messages.
- Make sure to search thoroughly before submitting your answers.
- Play fair, don't share your answers with other players!

For now, there are no limits to the number of attempts you can make, and you will receive a reply validating or invalidating your answers. Depending on how many entries are submitted, this could change.

A scoreboard will be posted at least once midway into the Scavenger Hunt period, to let you gauge how many more points you should try to gain to reach a good position for prizes compared to other participants. You have until January 14th 2016 11:59:59 PM EST to send the proof of your achievements and your answers. Anything sent after that deadline will not count even if the task was technically done beforehand.

Here are the goods this year!

Prizes

Here are the prizes you can win if you reach the top of the scoreboard!

  • 2nd Place: Gold God Bey Zillion Zeus.M.V + B-61 Random Booster Vol. 4 + free Bit Booster

[Image: Anniversary-Bit-2016-Taka-Ver.png] [Image: Anniversary-Bit-2016-Fumi-Ver.png]

That's right, you will randomly receive either of these Taka and Fumi versions and you can trade with another person's version later on if you want!

Even if you can't reach the top 10, don't worry, you can also exchange your points for Bit Boosters! Here's what's needed:

These Bit Boosters will cost 5 points each.
And you can get the following for 7 points each:

Happy Anniversary!
Today we revealed our worldbeyblade.org redesign and complete rewrites of most of our rule books and resources, all in the name of creating a better experience for all bladers. It couldn’t come at a better time: Beyblade Burst is already out in Canada, and a worldwide release is mere just on the horizon. We’ll experience a huge boom in membership, and we’re excited to take it on.

But our investment in the future has left us little for the present, with our funds hitting their lowest levels in years. We’re asking bladers everywhere to help our volunteer organization keep running amazing events, giving away tons of great Beyblade gear, and building the ultimate online experience for Beyblade fans.

And speaking of great Beyblade gear … we worked with Takafumi Adachi, creator of Metal Fight Beyblade/Beyblade Metal Fusion, to create original character artwork for the World Beyblade Organization. (More info on that here.) This crossover between one of Beyblade’s legendary artists and the passion of a fan community is monumental, and we’re thrilled to make it available to you.

As you can see above, we've made some awesome t-shirts using Takafumi's artwork, along with this great double-sided tote bag:

Get any WBO x Takafumi Adachi t-shirt or tote bag for $35 USD and receive 3x Bit Booster Generations Vol. I — a collection consisting of highly sought-after Bits from all eras of Beyblade’s history, old and new!

Bit Booster Generations Vol. I is also available to anyone who’d like to make a donation of $5 (x1) or $10 (x3). Just send a Paypal donation to donate@worldbeyblade.org and include your username in the note.

Your contributions make it possible for us to do cool stuff on the web (as you’ve seen today), fulfill our goals of shipping kits full of Beyblade gear and organizer resources to local Beyblade communities, and run bigger and better events at a time when we are most poised for success.

Finally, for those most dedicated lifetime bladers, we’re making available the Eternal Passport: a lifetime membership to WBO Beyblade tournaments and Passport-exclusive giveaways.

In exchange for your generosity and dedication, you’ll also receive the Eternal Bit and an exclusive WBO x Takafumi Adachi “Eternal” Hoodie, complete with custom username detailing on the back, along with WBO cards and stickers.

When I founded worldbeyblade.org, it was already my third attempt to create a Beyblade tournament organization. I had toyed with the idea before, under the name International Beyblade Association, but it just never clicked. Until 8 years ago, it did. It did and all of this crazy stuff happened and now we’re here.

We built an international Beyblade tournament-sanctioning organization, complete with online battle tracking. We worked with the artist of Metal Fight Beyblade. We’re basically making anime real, here. The WBO is the only place on earth where this could happen, and the generosity of our community is what has made that possible so far.

So if you can, please consider showing your support at this time when we need it most, while getting a killer piece of Beyblade history to keep with you. (But if you want something to keep with you for free, check out the Taka & Fumi thread, where we’ve made some wallpapers available!)
A few months ago, Kai-V and I had a crazy idea. What if we could get Takafumi Adachi, author of the Metal Fight Beyblade series and creator of legendary characters like Ginga Hagane, Ryuuga, and Zero to draw character art for the WBO?

Life lesson: sometimes all you have to do is ask. Takafumi was thrilled at the opportunity to lend us his talent. I collaborated with close friend and artist Valérie Bastille to create character design sheets for Takafumi to base his illustrations off of. Once Takafumi sent us his lineart, she took care of the coloring, too. Check her stuff out!

We named the characters Taka and Fumi very obviously in honour to the immense contributions that Takafumi has made not only here to the WBO, but to the world of Beyblade at large due to his impactful work on Metal Fight Beyblade.

Takafumi’s distinctive way of capturing motion and power make his style a perfect fit for a franchise that’s all about stuff spinning real fast and hitting each other. He was also a true pleasure to work with, a man of extreme kindness and talent.

Taka and Fumi aren’t just “mascots” for us; they’re a representation of the fighting spirits of bladers all over the world, and the core of our visual identity going forward. Expect to see them around a lot, in new cards, stickers, and more. We’re extremely honoured to have received this gift from Takafumi himself.

What do you think of this collaboration? Reply with your thoughts, and feel to share your own art of Taka and Fumi here as well! We also made some wallpapers you can use on your desktop or mobile device!
Realizing that the way the WBO runs tournaments has changed very little in the past eight years that we’ve existed, earlier this year we embarked on an initiative to re-evaluate the way WBO tournaments are run. Starting in early September, we began running “Experimental Format” unranked tournaments in different WBO communities to test new rules.

Through continuous discussion and feedback from the community, and experimentation and refinement conducted via our test tournaments over the past several months, we have decided upon a final version of rule changes for WBO Organized Play that are now available to use optionally for ranked events (where applicable) for all formats (PLA, HMS, MFB, LTD, ZRG, BST), but will be mandatory effective January 1, 2017.

What were our goals?
  • Make improvements that would help provide clearer guidelines for the formats we allow to be played and when they are to be used, including a new format for less than seven players.
  • Essentially eliminate the potential for an endless loop of win-percentage destroying tiebreakers at the end of the first stage of a tournament and provide clearer, standardized direction for the final stage of all events.
  • Introduce a more fun and strategic way of playing for top bladers who reach the finals of our tournaments: Deck Format.
  • Allow the option for each players BeyRank to mean something significant in a real competitive sense through the introduction of seeding, something which is standard among many other competitive games.
  • Burst Format: Re-evaluate the status of Odin’s ban.

New All Format Rules [Available Now, Mandatory 1/1/2017]
Quote:Format Guidelines
8–11 players - Round Robin
6–10 round first stage / Top 4 single elimination deck rotation finals (+3rd Place BeyBattle)

12–16 players - Block Round Robin
5–7 round first stage / Top 4 single elimination deck rotation finals (+3rd Place BeyBattle)

17+ players - Swiss
5+ rounds first stage / Top 8 single elimination deck rotation finals (+3rd Place BeyBattle)

Deck Format Final Stage
A special set of rules used in the final stages of WBO Beyblade tournaments that allows you to strategically switch between Beyblade combinations during the match.

Scoring
Matches are to 5 points. Out-spins are worth 1 point; knock-outs and bursts (for Burst Format only) are worth 2 points. If your Beyblade exits the stadium without making contact with the opposing Beyblade they’ll receive 1 point.

Deck Building
During deck building, you build up to 3 Beyblades with no repeated parts that will make up your deck. Once you’ve assembled your desired deck, you can declare that your deck is ready. The judge will inspect your deck. Before the match begins, both bladers will inspect each other’s decks. Then the Beyblade selection phase happens in secret as normal.

Replays
After each round, the loser is asked if they want a replay, which bars both bladers from switching their Beyblade in the next round. Replays do not alter the result of the previous round; a loss is still a loss, and you can’t replay once you’ve lost the match.

Switching
If a replay is declined, both bladers may switch Beyblades before the next round. The winner of the previous round must declare first if they will switch. If they will switch, they must make their selection and then show it to the opponent. The loser then has the option to switch their Beyblade for another Beyblade in their deck; however, they are not obligated to.

Seeding by BeyRank
Seeding is the initial placement of players in tournament brackets that determines who they face first. Organizers are encouraged to seed bladers based on their BeyRank, as is the standard for competitive games worldwide.

Order of Seeding
1. BeyRank of registered attendees, collected from the website the night of/morning before an event.
2. Existing WBO players with unknown ranks
3. New players

However, random seeding is permitted for tournaments with under 17 players.

Seeding can be easily controlled when using Challonge to run your tournament. Seeding of participants is controlled by the order of the list of participants from top to bottom. The first player on the list will be the top seed in the tournament, and the last player on the list will be the bottom seed.

Seeding in the Final Stage
In the final stage, players are seeded based on their rank in the standings of the first stage of the tournament.

Tiebreakers
Ties when advancing to the final stage are broken by the outcome of previous matches in the tournament between two tied players [winner moves on]. If players are still tied after this, proceed to the second tiebreak procedure:

Round Robin/Group Round Robin: Perform a tiebreak BeyBattle (or round robin in the case of three or more tied participants) to determine who will advance to the finals. Note these battles separately from Challonge. They will not count for BeyPoints when these rules are moved out of the experimental stage, but should be included when submitting results afterwards.

Swiss: Median-Buchholz score in Challonge. Whichever player has a higher score will advance to the finals.

Challonge
Challonge usage is optional, but heavily encouraged.

Challonge is a popular tournament management platform that can be accessed from any device with an internet connection. It streamlines the process of running tournaments by automatically generating brackets for any format, keep track of scores, seed players, determine tiebreakers, and more.

Organizers that use Challonge consistently run faster and more efficient tournaments, and all organizers are encouraged to use it. However, it is not mandatory and printable tournament materials are provided for organizers who would rather not use Challonge.

Burst Format: Odin Unbanned
The Odin Layer is now unbanned for Burst Format.

After becoming available throughout several different Experimental Format events in different communities, Odin proved itself to no longer be a centralizing piece of the game as it once did nearly a year ago when it was first banned. The metagame did not shift to revolve around it being available in the Experimental Format events, and its weakness to many Attack types was noticeable. It’s still a good Layer, but the game and our community has evolved beyond it now, making it a reasonable choice to move forward and revoke the ban.

With these new rules now available (and soon to become mandatory on January 1st, 2017) for all ranked (where applicable) WBO tournaments, we will be continue keeping a close eye on how things play out from this point. We are open to making rule modifications after we've had a chance to see this in action in ranked tournaments for some time, but are confident that at the very least, what we have proposed here is credible and fair to be adopted as the standard for our events moving forward.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please direct them towards this thread.

A big thank you to everyone who played a part in either formulating, testing, or discussing these rule changes. This was truly a community effort! Special thanks go to Cake, Wombat, and Beylon for their constant feedback and consistently deep and insightful thoughts on everything at each step of the way.

Plastic Format: Screw Zeus Legality Update
WBO Plastic Format Rulebook Wrote:Screw Zeus (Zeus)
  • The combination of Screw Zeus with Attack Rings that visibly do not fit, cause the parts to bend from their original shape, or do not sit level with each other is forbidden. One example of this is Dragon Breaker.
  • The combination of Screw Zeus on SG Free Wing Base with Weight Disks that visibly do not fit and cause the parts to bend from their original shape or do not sit level with each other is forbidden.

It took us a little while (sorry about that!), but we have also added in an update on the legality of Screw Zeus in conjunction with Attack Rings and SG Free Wing Base. We realize the current wording above is slightly vague in that it does not provide a comprehensive list of compatible/incompatible parts.

There is a list posted in the thread I linked to above outlining at least some of these compatibilities/incompatibilities with Attack Rings, but I'm not sure if it is comprehensive and completely verified yet. I also do not believe we have a list of Weight Disks that will work and won't work with Screw Zeus + SG Free Wing Base. If we can come to a conclusion as a community on a complete list for both of these cases, we would be happy to add it to the rulebook.

For now however, this should hopefully make it clear in general that using Screw Zeus in situations where it feels forced to make it fit with the other parts it is being assembled with is forbidden.

Brand New Official Rulebooks
To coincide with all of these changes, we've also put together brand new rulebooks for all WBO Organized Play Formats. The Universal Rules are no more!:

Organizers' Guide
Additionally, all WBO Organizers should read our new Organizers' Guide for more detailed information about how to run tournaments with Challonge, prize reimbursement, tournament management, post-tournament responsibilities, and more.
