Double bound is more like the type of move to send a bey flying back/upwards while Tempest break would aim for a burst/direct hit.

Free has also been training during this time and he was already significantly stronger than Ranjiro. And if Drum could bust through that tornado by a relatively stronger blader than Ranjiro (Rantaro) without a special move, than Free could definitely bust through Ranjiro's with one of his most powerful moves that's perfectly suited to the situation with it's high speed and power.
Free going up against Lane again would be cool to see

What I'm saying is that Fafnir won't be able to just immediately burst through the Tornado. For a Glide Tornado to even be able to raise up another bey it would have to be sufficiently stronger than anyone we've seen before in the series, meaning Fafnir will have to briefly struggle a bit. During that time Achilles attacks since Dive moves hits pretty fast.
