They're not copying, they just seem to have similar ideas because both of the franchises started planning this many months ago. A problem that I have with this dual protagonist thin is that they'll get one fourth of the focus that Valt and Aiga got in one season if this is another 12 minute episode season. Even though that is a bad thing, they might promote doubles tactics more and even come up with a real life doubles format, which would be pretty interesting.
More screentime doesn't mean more development, look at Drum. Meanwhile there are side characters like Toko or Kit.

He's improved a lot from where he started though. Also, isn't the main character kinda exempted from that logic?
