The TTC is actually a travesty of a system. Not only is it one of the most expensive transit systems for its customers, but the infrastructure is poorly done and leaves much to be desired.

Vancouver's transit system, on the other hand, is fantastic.

it's still better than pretty much every other public transportation system in the country

No, someone invited like 50 people to a conversation and used an autobot to say "join WBO" and stuff. o.O

Our public transport is shite.
I take two buses to college most mornings (There's two campuses about 12 miles between them) and half the time, my first bus doesnt turn up.
Then when it does, it has 3 bus-loads of people on it and annoying whinging old people who get pissy when you say "Excuse me" to get past them to get off.

Then theres ones on the buses to Dreamborn's house that whinge their asses off when it's boiling fkn hot, 30 Celcius and humid in the middle of summer and you open a window, they slam it closed shouting "YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE NO CONSIDERATION FOR US!!" I swear the person who said that to me last year deserved a kick up the arse.

Yes but it would take like 3 hours compared to 30 minutes.

Aw that sucks. Trains are so much better than buses. In my opinion. Unhappy
I always opt to take the train over the bus when I can. They aren't as comfortable, but they certainly are top notch when it comes to arriving on time. You can usually rely on trains to get you where you need to be on time, consistently.

Also, bus drivers can be real dicks to the point that they can really screw up your day. I've had on several occasions, where they would just pass me up when it's obvious that I want them to stop.

Also, the transfer system for buses has become dependant on credit cards, train stations, and currency exchanges. Before, you didn't have to go through such a hassle. You could decide to take the bus, and you would just receive a transfer right on the bus, instead of the annoying (but fair) preparation required to not rip yourself off on rides.

Senior Citizens ride free here though, which sounds like a good idea, but turned out to be a bad one.

All the trains I've got surpass all buses on comfort by.......a lot. Buses have hard seats, random bars that I walk into, odd steps that I fall over, occasionally have really low ceilings that I bump my head on (I'm not even tall) and they're susceptible to all the random bumps and corners in the roads.
Trains are like big moving sofa's. XD

I'm probably being a bit biased as I get the train more but that's how I see it anyways. With the newest type of train, the seat's are a bit harder but generally it's okay.

those "random bars" are to hold onto, maybe you should watch where you're going

Woot soccer! I love this game right now!! In my Comp. Class, 55% of the time we never do anything because the teacher is too busy watching soccer. The class usually plays Halo, Yugioh, or in my case Me and my classmate plays pokemon. It's awesome!
Should play Beyblade =D lol.

I dunno....I think the majority of the serve a purpose but some of them have been added purely so the bus drivers can watch me walk into things. Uncertain

I'd think if the bus drivers were out to get you, and had any sort of control over how the buses were built, there'd be absolutely no railing, or bars.

But then it would be obvious that they're all evil! They gotta be subtle so they don't get the governement on their asses.
Hey fellow bus drivers, let's install devices that keep our passengers safe, but are minorly annoying. The government will never notice HOW EVIL WE ARE!

Libruhhh

I don't think they really keep us safe.......Unhappy

Why not?

Say the bus gets into an accident. Would you rather go flying across the bus, or would you rather have a bar you could steady yourself with?

Hmm

Trains are also very very loud and, believe it or not, you still feel bumps as you go over the tracks.
