(Sep. 18, 2008  12:52 AM)bugturtles Wrote: [ -> ]basically it's this knight that goes off to get his revenge on the ultimate evil being, since this being killed the closest thing he had to a father.

the knight is joined by a drifting pickpocket/thief. this thief knows the ways of the land, knows paths and roads and lots of places in the world and how to get to them.

the two are joined by a female elf who is also the ruler of her people. however, this is because the two want to leave the elves' forest, and cannot until they beat a minion of the ultimate evil being that resides in the forest.

after doing so they go against multiple subordinates of this being, and finally battle him.

the knight gets his revenge, but at what cost..?

THATS AWESOME

...DEAR LORD, WHATS THE COST!?!?!?

Nice job, bt, it sounds pretty awesome.
How long did you say it had to be?
900 lines

but i think i have more

i worked with a partner on this project, and we split the work up evenly.

i'll probably rewrite so it flows better.

overall i still feel empty about the work itself, but i feel accomplished that i didn't quit (despite the fact that i got intimidated by the length requirement)

empty, as in, something's missing, or...?

well, good job nonetheless
ugh

You just completed a 900 line poem (you should post it!) and I am complaining about the 3-4 page narrative poem I need to write.

I agree bugturtles, you should totally post it

@ Kei: what will it be about?

That is the problem. I have no clue. There is not many things I am motivated to write poetry about at the moment.

Man inspiration is everywhere, you just have to be looking for it.

For instance, the poem I wrote yesterday, "The Bluest Eye" was inspired by a novel of the same name that one of my friends is reading for his African American Literature class. I know nothing about the novel, but I liked the title and I wrote an entire poem around it.

Like I said, inspiration is everywhere. Just keep your eyes, both physical and mental, open. Wink

OH I HAVE AN EXAMPLE TOO

I want to write novels when I am older (and more experienced), since I love how stories and fiction and writing pieces in general can completely capture one's imagination if it's good enough.

Anyways, I want to include a part where a/the main character(s) are involved in an involuntary game of Russian Roulette, because I read about it recently in another book. (Obviously this is not of the Romantic Genre or anything of the sort, I want to write something action-y.)

I doubt anyone would seriously write a poem about Russian Roulette, but that's not my point.

it just doesn't feel that great. i probably felt rushed because it's due this friday. i'll put more time into it to make it much better than this current version. my half of the epic rhymes (like about (95% of my stanzas) while the other half has it written more like a story. i want it to be coherent.

should i have it poem form, or story form? i think it would be much better in story form, but i like rhymes. they sound cool.

i agree with the inspiration bit with ryan. just look around everywhere. if it helps, find an object that rhymes with another word/sound that is found in lots of other words.

i just spent 5 minutes of my life trying to kill yet another fly. i think that there's flies in the ceiling or something. my dad installed recessed lighting in my room, and as such we had to saw circles of the ceiling out to put in the lights. i think the flies get through the crevices.

also, my mom taught me a neat little rhythm on the guitar. this is one of those times when we actually get along, so it's very cool.
And I complain about writing 12 line poems........ God.
Oh yeah, for sure, it is. I could write about anything. But there is nothing that I personally feel very compelled to write about right now.

I could go into deeper detail as to why, but lets just say I am not in the mood. When I write poetry, it is because I want to, not because it is being assigned. I have to be in the mood to read poetry, and even more so to write it. We'll see what happens though, I have a couple ideas kicking around.

It should be interesting to see what I conjure up. The longest poem I've ever written was 76 lines (2 pages and a bit).

you really shouldn't
well i'm gonna complain about having to do 4/5 math sections with the HW for each per week. totally absurd and makes high school look like a joke.
i'm gonna complain about not having done homework in years and coasting through high school to find myself very lost in life hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
i've been thinking of dropping out of my university and going to a film school since people expected me to go there in the first place, but i doubt i'll go through with it. i'm really unhappy with my life right now and college isn't helping. i have a full ride and i should be greatful, but i don't really like how i'm forced to take the classes they assign me to take. i'm strained physically and mentally and i wanna put a bag over my head at time (funny, sad, but true). i even found a white hair in my head the other day.

edit: plz no sympathy, i'm just ranting. thanks!
Argh, my problem is I can't write. Its actually hard for me to write a 12-line poem, unless its about something really stupid or just random rhymes. You have to take English/Math/etc. classes in college? I thought you just chose certain classes.
I love these new strings, such crisp highs, and deep lows. Perfect finish on them as well, semi-slick ^^

my scholarship program shoved me into my classes. it's like "TAKE THESE CLASSES OR GTFO"

i don't even have an interest in business, but i'm taking business courses Uncertain
Dang, that sux, I hope mine doesn't do that, too. I'm not taking any more English classes than I have to.
what do you want to do G
Naw, you should be fine. Mine's just trying to brain wash me to be a strong multi cultural figure in the future.

You should see if you can test in any IB/AP classes to get college credits for English. I don't need freshman composition since I scored a 4 on the IB English test.
