#WBOMemories Contest 2018: Share Your Memories and Win Cho-Z Valkyrie.Z.Ev

Happy 10th anniversary, everyone! Over the many years we've shared at the WBO, we've made tons of memories both online and in person. Fellow Bladers who met at tournaments have, in some cases, become lifelong friends, and many of our Beyblades have led us to exciting victories! To celebrate the memories we've made as a community, it's time for the #WBOMemories contest! From today until January 4th, 2019 @ 11:59pm EST, we want to hear about your favourite WBO memory!

Be sure to read the Contest Rules at the bottom of the post!

Is this for everyone or just for the organizers

It's for everyone!

We actually asked a similar set of questions way back during our fifth anniversary, so I'm going to take this opportunity to recycle my answers from then! It might be interesting for some of you. Smile

(this will not count as an entry for me, or anyone else who also answered back then and re-posts haha)

The best year for the WBO in your opinion:
2011, probably. In terms of activity and members, that was the year that we absolutely exploded. We had 10,000 in September 2010 and less than a year later in August 2011, we had reached 50,000. That's insane.

Your time spent on the WBO:
too long

Your best tournament you hosted:
BEYBLADE REVOLUTION. It was a dream come true.

Your best tournament you participated in:
Performance wise, HIGH PARK THROWDOWN 3. After going 9-1 at BEYBLADE CRUSADE: Roll Call, and 8-0 at BEYBLADE CRUSADE, I went 15-0 at HPT3. Probably my best streak to date. However, in terms of fun ... it's too hard to say! I have so many great memories from these past five years with everyone in the Toronto community. I can definitely say that the ANIME NORTH tournaments each year are the highlights, though. I'm thankful for it all.

The two Bladers you'd want to see Beybattle the most:

Your favorite thing about the WBO: Organized Play, and meeting people.

The WBO Member you'd like to play video games with: Crimson or Blue!

The WBO Member you'd like to blade with: Blader DJ

The combination from a WBO Member you appreciated the most:
Combinations don't come from WBO Members! We mustn't forget about MLMPPCRTTH: The Final Counter.

The collaboration with a specialist or with a company you liked the most:
Our latest collaboration with Rising Star Games, probably! I think it's awesome that they reached out to us. BeybladeGeeks collaborating with us to make the video for BEYBLADE REVOLUTION was also pretty cool.

Funskool did, largest tournament in India Yet
I don't even know what I'm entering in, but the 10th anniversary seems like quite a milestone, so I just want to share some thoughts and memories.

1. Your best day on the WBO: Probably the first tournament I ever entered. I participated in HPT...2? 3? I came with just a storm pegasus right out of the box if I remember correctly, because I didn't have access to any of the Takara Tomy parts from Japan at the time. To compensate I tried to practice launching at home without a stadium. I ended up placing 4th that tournament (which started a trend...)

2. The best year for the WBO in your opinion: In my opinion the year when 4D Beyblades and, "Lightning Tank" (Jesus Christ) were released and popular. They represented a lot of power creep in the scene, but at the same time I felt like a lot of the releases were dynamic and fun. The community was also really large at the time. Some notable favourite Beyblades included scythe chronos, Hell Kerbecs, L Drago Destroy, and Death Queztlcoatl.

3. Your best tournament you participated in:
Honestly, I can't remember the name. I believe it was a tournament Pyro hosted, and it was during the summer months. Around august? Beyblade was really starting to pick up at the time, and I think we were getting something crazy like 60+ attendance for a non-Anime north event. That was insane to see that type of turnout.

4.The two Bladers you'd want to see Beybattle the most:
Valentin and Scott, always fun. Especially because Scott is someone who likes to play mind games and strategize in matches. Then Valentin has access to the entire plethora of tournament attendee parts.

5. Your saddest moment on the WBO:
It was after one of the anime north tournaments, I had spent a couple years building up my collection at the time, and just finished catching up to all the relevant parts in the meta. I lost everything somewhere, and I pretty much was done and planned to quit. Shortly after, a member named Deikailo showed up to a Toronto tournament, and offered me many staple beyblades to get back on my feet. Though she has been banned for other reasons, and was a controversial member of the community, I always appreciated her gesture.

6. The occasion you spent the most time on the WBO:
Similarly around 4D meta, there was a lot of heated discussion surrounding testing, combinations, etc. This was a fun time.

7. Your favorite thing about the WBO:
It not only allowed me to join a community and make some friends from a young impressionable age, but also taught me about maturing and being a core part of the said community. Running multiple tournaments and eventually being seen as a "veteran"(?) In the Toronto scene really gave me a sense of empowerment.

8. Where you think the WBO will be in one year:
Probably holding more tournaments for as long as beyblades are being released. Also, with more parts being lost in between the board cracks of the veranda in High Park

9. The WBO Member you'd like to hang out with:
Flamedragon25. One of the OG people I hung out with even outside of the beyblade scene. Got me into yugioh and other stuff.

10. The WBO Member you'd like to blade with:
Probably Jesse or LMAO again. Kei is too hard to play against and somehow always reads my mind. Plus they usually use some more interesting combinations or have some funny reactions.

Happy anniversary all!
Your best day on the WBO: My first honestly. Found the site through Battle Strikers and it's forum back when those were somewhat new and I got so hyped for the fact Beyblade was still around. Would be a few months before MFB hit Australia but I was excited regardless. Though my second favourite was when I got my first MFB bey which was lightning l-drago

The best year for the WBO in your opinion: This past year honestly. Burst in full swing, the website revamp, huge amount of events. Only problem for me is the lack of Aussie events (well, from this website, I run unofficial events with a store), though I hope to help fix that next year.

Your best tournament you participated in: Bey Inferno, biggest event I've been to and man was that fun. I was yet to really understand competitive play back then as it was only my second event, but I actually got to use my first Beyblade for the first time as I lost it the day before my first event only to find it afterwards and I learned heaps that day. Made quite a few friends then aswell, though I've lost most of them by now due to the end of Aussie events.

Your favorite WBO Member and Why: Blader DJ. Lights up my day every time he posts.

Your favorite news posted (Beyblade-related or anything else): Beyblade Burst announcement. While at the time I was unsure what to think as we had yet to see the burst mechanic and the tops were cheap looking, the impact that burst made and how the announcement revitalised the website just made that annoucement for me.

Your saddest moment on the WBO: Either that time I got ripped off by that one guy who said he was selling $25 Takara Tomy attack stadiums or the tournament where my first L-DRAGO Lightning wheel broke. I get quite attached to my firsts of things so that breakage hurt.

Your favorite thing about the WBO: The lack of overall negativity. That's due to the strict but fair mods and the community as a whole, but it's still shocking how well this community holds off on thinking the worst for everything. It's bitten us in the butt a few times with over trusting certain people but it's turned out well over the years. I hope that stays that way.

The WBO Member you'd like to hang out with: Kei

The WBO Member you'd like to blade with: Kei, I just really want to see how the best player in the world keeps his title for so long. Plus I would just like to talk about the game itself.

The WBO Member you'd like to really collaborate with: oh either of the Beyblade Geeks or JoJo. Love their videos and all of them seem great to hang out... And yeah it would help my channel that I don't have time to keep updated, and the Facebook page I run that I do keep updated as much as possible, so there is a cynical reason to that, but they all seem cool, would just like to meet them if anything.

Anyway keep up the good work mods. It's been a huge year for this site, Beyblade and myself in Beyblade and it's looking to be bigger next year, so as a community let's keep going forward together!
you have to post it on your Instagram account so how will you guys see the pic on someone's account do we give you the account name?

1. Your best day on the WBO:
Becoming a contributor

2. Your favorite WBO Member and Why:
Mana, active, kind and always helpful

3. Your favorite post on the WBO:
My Sieg Xcalibur Draft

4. Your favorite announcement:
Spin Change becoming allowed on Legend Spriggan (even if I thought it was a little late)

5. Your favorite news posted (Beyblade-related or anything else):
Whenever there's a new set as there's bound to be plenty of testing and drafts afterwards

6. Your saddest moment on the WBO:
When someone started uploading all of my drafts before they were finished and full to the brim with misinformation. That actually gave me an anxiety attack and almost made me quit Beyblade

7. The occasion you spent the most time on the WBO:
More than I probably should...

8. Your favorite thing about the WBO:
I can nerd out about how a toy performs and people tune in to listen

9. Where you think the WBO will be in one year:
Just a little bigger as we wait for the next System of Beyblades to appear and we finalize Limited Burst Formats

10. The WBO Member you'd like to really collaborate with:
TrainiacJ, I wanna help out on those WBO review videos.
Your best day on the WBO:
Probably when the Beytuber Blast was announced by JoJo! I was so giddy when joining the community xD

The best year for the WBO in your opinion:
Hmm this so a hard one... I haven't been here long on but I would say 2016 because wynaut?

Your best tournament you hosted:
None and if I were to I would probably have too much stress to enjoy it. I don't want anyone to be disappointed :<

Your best tournament you participated in:
I would say The Supreme One's next to last tournament in October. They're usually really nice with not too many people and I love going to the park and seeing all the dogs (they're so cuteee)

The two Bladers you'd want to see Beybattle the most:
JoJo and Kei/Supreme! Yes three legends fighting, now that's interesting

Your favorite WBO Member and Why:
Honestly I don't have a favorite but ones I like or happy when they post would be Infinite.Zero, Supreme, Citrus ninja, Marutti and more

Your favorite post on the WBO:
#Freethe12! I love memes and this is one of the few good ones in the Beyblade community

Your favorite announcement:
When I heard that MFB was 10 years old! I started out Beyblade with MFB and everyone in my school had one. I have a hefty collection of these to the point where people say I have an addiction (pfff me? Look at a certain someones collection updates Tongue_out I still love them tho) Also this announcement! Though I haven't learned much about it yet haha

Your favorite news posted (Beyblade-related or anything else):
When burst counted as 2 points instead of 1. It frustrated me because bursting seemed a lot more rare when I started playing and just having 1 point rewarded was underwhelming.

Which post you find funniest:
My humor is a solid iron wall (get it?) so I don't find much funny but if I had to chose it would be... I got nothing .-.

Your saddest moment on the WBO:
I died a little on the inside when I was eliminated at the tournament in Virginia around July. I lost pretty quickly in New York and Havertown and I was feeling pretty down that I didn't know anything about the meta game except... HERCULES!

The occasion you spent the most time on the WBO
Being on for about 6 hours while on a road trip to SC and back

Your favorite thing about the WBO:
The community. It's really nice to have a place where you can talk about things that otherwise are not popular in terms of general public such as pokemon. I can talk to anyone about that and they would at least know something or heared of it.

Alternatively, your favorite concrete feature about the WBO:
The tournaments of course! It a nice way to make Beyblade more competitive and fun although releases can sometimes mess with that

Where you think the WBO will be in one year:
I'm not sure but I think from seeing what has happened this year it will probably be bustling with more dedicated fans Smile

The WBO Member you'd like to hang out with:
Wombat... Not much of a reason to be honest he just seems chill person

The WBO Member you'd like to play video games with:
Really anyone who has similar taste or is willing to try new games.

The WBO Member you'd like to blade with:
Definitely JoJo. I have watched her since the beginning of my love for Beyblade and she's really someone I respect because she's been doing so long

The WBO Member you'd like to really collaborate with:
Honestly no one in particular since I don't do stuff like collabing

The collaboration with a specialist or with a company you liked the most: maybe TT? If I ever

8.Favorite thing about WBo :

9.My favourite wbo member :
Dragunix ...i like him bcos of his stories

10.saddest moment on WBO :
Being bossed around .
Your best day on the WBO: Probably when I won the giveaway for the Japanese 4D x Zero-G 3DS game! I had no intention of buying the game, but really wanted that limited edition Samurai Pegasis, so I was psyched when I got it for free Smile
The best year for the WBO in your opinion: Tough call. Although I didn't get to play as often as I wanted that year, I'd have to say 2014. The period from 2012-2014 was a really great time for the WBO both because of the enthusiasm around competitive testing and the hype after the release of Metal Fight Limited.
Your best tournament you hosted: I have a lot of amazing memories from the tournaments I hosted in CT, but I'd have to say my favorite was our RVA Burst/HMS tournament last July. Managed to get Wombat, Yami, Geetster99, OnTheDL, and Sniper to come down for the event + all our older Richmond regulars (MStubbs88, SoulBurner, clfjmpr, TrueXiXAzrael, Emi, etc.) It was great to see so many competitive faces at the event & was a really memorable experience for me.
Your best tournament you participated in: I've had a few tournaments that I've won or gone undefeated in at this point, but I think my first win at our Connecticon Zero-G tournament in 2013 would have to be the most satisfying.
The two Bladers you'd want to see Beybattle the most: Kei and Loofa
Your favorite WBO Member and Why: Kai-V. The tireless effort she put into running the WBO for the first several years I was a member is the reason I'm here today. The WBO definitely wouldn't be the same without all of her hard work and patience.
Your favorite post on the WBO: I used to save screenshots of some of my favorite posts on the WBO, so I'll just drop a few here and let them speak for themselves. Ah, nostalgia.
Your favorite announcement: Oh my god 100% Limited 2.0! I still want to make this happen one day. It was amazing to see people try to figure out if it was serious or not before everyone realized it was April 1st.
Your saddest moment on the WBO: In all honesty, 2016 in general was a tough year for me on the WBO. Changing leadership during the first couple years of Burst and the unsuccessful forum redesign and removal of ranks for so many retired veterans took me out of the game for a while. The WBO is in a great place right now, but I will always miss members' eagerness to contribute to competitive discussion and the combo testing threads that were so prevalent during the first few years I was active.
Your favorite thing about the WBO: Honestly, just that there are people like me who have been here for 5+ years and still stick around for their love of the game. It's really a testament to the close-knit nature of this community and the strength of the WBO.

Always happy to help out aspiring competitive bladers! Looking forward to our next tournament after the holidays Smile
And I'll tell Builder17 you mentioned him ~
The best year for the WBO in your opinion: I actually wasn't around for this year, but from what I can tell 2011 was a great year for the WBO. Tournament scenes were numerous and thriving around the world, much more to a degree than they ever have during Burst. I joined the WBO in 2012, where popularity was starting to wane with the introduction of Zero-G (among other factors I think).
Your best tournament you hosted:Jimmy Zeutron: Blast Zone Jenius. I had planned out the name, logo, and event long in advance and was determined to make it the largest event it could be. A little over 100 people signed up on site, and the actual tournament had 68 participants - the largest Burst event in WBO history! ...until Yami and Sniper shattered that record literally the next weekend with 75 and 78 player events respectively. Despite being a large event and not having a ton of experienced players to run it, I still thought the tournament went relatively smoothly.
Your best tournament you participated in: Definitely RVA Summer Series #2. Though I had won tournaments before and had even gone undefeated in one about a year before this event, I had never really felt like I had rightfully earned those wins whether it was due to less than stellar win records or the level of the competition. This tournament was different however, since it was packed with mid-to-top level players like TSO, Yami, Sniper, geetster99, OnTheDL, and the RVA crew. Not only did I go 7-1 and win the tournament, I also didn't get matched up against a "bad" player the entire tournament, so I was incredibly satisfied with my performance. Only thing I would have changed is if I had won the final match against TSO rather than Shu582 since she was the only person who beat me in the first stage.
The two Bladers you'd want to see Beybattle the most: This is a really tough one... I'd have to say either Kei vs King Loofa, hitmonlee vs hitmonchanAlta vs TSO, or Basedsamuraij vs 1234beyblade. I also think a Yami vs OldSchool match would be pretty entertaining just to see one of them freak out when they lose by an unexpected burst lol
Your favorite announcement: The announcement of MFB Limited! At the time, it was totally unprecedented so it definitely came as a shock to me. However, Limited ended up quickly becoming my favorite format, just because of the revival of competitive discussion that it sparked and the amount of combos that can be used competitively in it. Can't wait until Burst gets a similar treatment, I feel like it's long overdue and would personally love a chance to use some of my favorite older combos again.
The post you find funniest: u wana batle me mousy man?
The occasion you spent the most time on the WBO: Probably some time over summer 2015 when I pulled like 2 or 3 all-nighters getting the winning combos archive for MFB Standard up to date. wow i wish i was still young and had that much motivation and free time lol
Your favorite thing about the WBO: Definitely the whole competitive play aspect of it, I actually found the WBO while looking for the "best beyblade combo" and tournaments in my area, and honestly the existence of an accessible competitive scene is what's kept me into the hobby all these years where I've lost interest in others. I've also always found the whole Beypoint system to be really intriguing, so finally being able to process tournaments myself and get a deeper look into how it works is like a dream come true, haha.
Where you think the WBO will be in one year: Probably a little smaller than it is now, unfortunately. Smith With the hype from the anime dying down, and the flop that is Turbo pushing kids away from buying Beyblades, I think Burst's popularity is just about done. It feels so weird having lived through this whole generation of Burst Beyblades, and while there's sure to be the diehard fans who might stick around Burst just doesn't have the solid, durable feel of metal that MFB did.
The WBO Member you'd like to blade with: If anyone, th!nk. I kinda wish he would come back some day, though I have a feeling he'd be pretty appalled at the current state of competitive discussion and the wiki.
The WBO Member you'd like to really collaborate with: I'd really like to do a collab with Kevo, JoJo, or one of the other larger Beytubers who is also interested in the competitive side of Beyblade - maybe it would help make the competitive scene, or at least the narrative of competing in tournaments in real life, more mainstream within the whole community.
