Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Update – New Organizer Event Proposal Requirements

Due ongoing developments surrounding the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and in an abundance of caution, we've decided:

Event Proposal Conditions Starting July 1st, 2020
Barring any catastrophic changes to the worldwide situation surrounding the virus, event proposals made by Organizers for events occurring on July 1st, 2020 or later will be required to:

  • Official Government Documentation: Cite official government documentation which permits events/gatherings of their proposed size to occur in their local area. This must again be verified one week before the event.
  • Local Regulations: Demonstrate their intention and plans for compliance with all local regulations for permitted gatherings (eg. wearing masks, physical distancing, etc).
  • WBO Recommendations: If applicable, demonstrate their intention and plans for compliance with any of the WBO's safety recommendations for attending events during the pandemic.
  • Hiding Event Page When Participant Cap is Reached: We recognize that given the strict requirements on gathering sizes in many areas around the world, it may not be in the best interests of event Organizers and players for an event to continue being posted publicly once the participant cap has been reached. As such, Organizers may request for their event page to be hidden once the participant cap for it has been met. Please indicate your request for this when making your event proposal.

If your cap is reached we will remove your event from public visibility until after the event date has passed. We encourage Organizers to note this will be done in their event description and to PM all participants before it is removed to confirm the event will still be happening.

However, we will be continuing to monitor the situation and will provide an update if this changes.

The World Beyblade Organization by Fighting Spirits Inc. is dedicated to bringing Beyblade fans together–so this is a decision that was not made lightly–but above and beyond even that is our commitment to doing what we can to put the health and safety of players first.

We hope that with this break in events we'll all be able to spend more time improving other aspects of the community, our relationships online, and preparing for future events! We can surely turn this into something positive so that we're even stronger when this has passed.
Given that the situation with COVID-19 is still very much ongoing, we have made the decision to suspend all WBO events for the remainder of April through to the end of May 2020. The opening post/title has been updated to reflect this.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further updates when they become available. Thank you to all Organizers and Bladers for your support and understanding in this tough situation we are all facing!
Upon further review of the ongoing situation with COVID-19, we have decided to extend the full suspension on WBO events to the end of June 2020.

Please see the full update in the opening post.

We have also updated our requirements for attending WBO events starting July 1st, 2020 here.

Thank you to everyone for your continued understanding! Stay safe.
While reviewing the rules and local regulations for WBO tournaments taking place during the COVID-19 situation, it was determined that having a waitlist, as is customary for WBO tournaments, would promote unsafe conditions. Tournaments which reach or approach their maximum capacity cannot risk having additional bladers show up at the door, because this could potentially lead to a situation where non-participatory spectators or additional bladers show up and push the attendee count past local regulatory maximums. We actually have to control the number of attendees rather closely, which is why we already have a rule that each blader may only be accompanied by one person for the forseeable future.

At this time we have added to the rules for attending WBO events currently in place. We have added the 8th rule, prohibiting attendance for bladers who do not register online ahead of time, and prohibiting the use of waitlists for tournaments during this situation.

We look forward to easing these rules again once the situation is mitigated.

Hang in there bladers! Please stay safe and do your part to remain safe!
In an effort to ensure greater safety for yourself and everyone involved with your events, we have implemented a new optional policy for all approved events effective immediately:

We have also implemented some updates to the requirements for attending tournaments. Please read them as well.
