ABOUT BEYBLADE NORTH

Beyblade North 2017 brings a full weekend’s worth of giveaways and high-speed battles, with new activities every single day at Anime North from May 26 – 28! Compete in up to 4 tournaments or play free battles just for fun. Even if you’re new to the game, our expert bladers will give you hands-on training and equipment to battle with.

To play in our events, you will need to purchase a single day or weekend pass for Anime North, which also grants you access to the rest of the convention. Purchase tickets here before they sell out! Weekend passes in particular routinely sell out before the convention.

FRIDAY, MAY 26: BURST TEAM FORMAT

Friday — 6 to 9 PM
  • Burst Format Team Tournament: 6:00PM Registration, 6:30PM Start
WHAT IS TEAM FORMAT?
This event will be played using Beyblade Burst with our special Team Format. Team Format is an exciting co-operative variant of our regular format where players form teams of three and battle against each other in “Team Matches”. Each player on each team plays one regular best 3 of 5 set against one opposing team member during the Team Match and the winner is ultimately determined by whichever team accumulates more individual round wins after all three sets have been completed. This means that there are nine total points up for grabs in any Team Match.

You can find out more about Team Format in the Organizers’ Guide under “Team Format (12+ Players)”.

DON'T HAVE A TEAM?
If anyone does not have a team before the event, we will do our best to put you on a team with other players attending who also do not have a team!

MAY 27-28: ADDITIONAL EVENTS

Our booth will be open for the majority of convention hours across all three days. We'll be running at least one tournament on each day, with the remainder of time dedicated to free play, side events, and training for new and intermediate Bladers.

Saturday — 10:30 AM to 6 PM Sunday — 10 AM to 3 PM

LOCATION: TORONTO CONGRESS CENTRE - HALL B

All BEYBLADE NORTH 2017 events will be hosted in our space at the back of Hall B in the Toronto Congress Centre. Please see the highlighted areas on the maps below:

You can also download the complete Anime North 2017 schedule here. Note: some of the times posted in the official schedule are actually incorrect. Please follow the event times posted in this thread.

GIVEAWAYS – BEYRAFFLE & INSTAGRAM CONTEST (DETAILS COMING SOON)

The fun doesn’t stop with just our tournaments all weekend! Stay tuned for details in the coming months regarding the giveaways and a special Instagram contest we will be running throughout the weekend at BEYBLADE NORTH 2017!

Thanks so much to Hasbro for these prizes they've donated for Beyblade North 2017! Come compete with us for your chance to win prizes not only by placing in tournaments, but by entering contests and random giveaways all weekend (throughout Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at all of our events during Anime North), too!

Can't attend Beyblade North? No sweat! We'll be distributing prizes to visiting tournament organizers who can attend, so the Beyblades can be won at tournaments back home.

SIDE NOTES

No Bey? No prob!: Don't have any Beyblades? No problem! We would be happy to lend a Beyblade and launcher to you to use at each of your matches!

Please be aware of your belongings: We'd advise users to please, please look after your stuff. While yes this is a Beyblade tournament and we're not suggesting that any of us would attempt to take each other's stuff it is still happening at a public venue where other people (who may not be so friendly) are going to be present as well. Of course, if you see a personal belonging lying around bring it up any of the judges so we can return it to the right person. Your co-operation is appreciated!

All players must arrive on-time: If you do not arrive at the scheduled start time, you risk being excluded from the tournament. The software we use to run our events–Challonge–does not allow us to add in extra participants once the tournament has started.

If you know in advance that you will be late, please post in this thread or contact someone at the event and depending on the circumstances we can perhaps still include you if we know you will arrive soon.

All questions for this tournament may be asked in this thread!

Not sure what to expect? Check out these videos from our Anime North events last year:

Need-to-Know Information

1. During Registration, Open Your Account Page

Open your account page on your mobile device (if possible) during registration to help us keep things quick.

2. Arrive On Time

You must arrive by the tournament start time to enter. We cannot add new players to an event once it begins. If you're running late, contact the host.

3. Stay Aware of Your Belongings

We do everything possible to ensure a safe environment, but can't be held responsible for lost or stolen goods. Keep your gear close by!

4. The Tournament Will Last At Least a Few Hours

This event is likely to last at least a few hours. If you can't commit to the entire tournament, you're welcome to come watch and play for fun instead!

5. Listen For Your Username To Be Called

Your name will be called when it's time for your next battle. If you need to leave early or take a break, tell a judge. Missing a match could mean disqualification!

6. Players Must Meet Regional Product Age Restrictions

All players in this event must meet the age restrictions on Beyblade products in their region. TAKARA-TOMY recommends Beyblade for ages 6+. Hasbro recommends Beyblade for ages 8+. Players under these ages may only participate with the permission of their parent/guardian.

7. Players Under 18 Must Be Accompanied by a Parent/Guardian

If you are under 18 years old, a parent/guardian must accompany you and be present for the duration of the event.

8. Contests, Raffles, Gambling, Betting, and Selling Are Prohibited

Advertising the sale of any product or service, as well as posting about any contest, raffle, gambling, or betting on this event page and conducting them at the event without approval by Fighting Spirits Inc. staff is prohibited. Please contact the Organized Play team if you require approval.

9. Terms of Service

All event attendees and users of this website are subject to our Terms of Service.

@[ThaKingTai], you asked for it. Team Burst Format! I hope you guys from LA are still planning on attending Anime North this year!

Really excited for this event. Team DAY BREAKERS will be defending our title from 2015!
Team Format FTW! Hope everybody is ready for #TeamDaybreakers. Still reining champs for both team formats Wink
This looks awesome! Really wanted to form a team with Wombat & Cake, but right now it looks like I'll be working until 5 that day & then heading down to Florida for a family trip on Saturday. That being said, it's been a dream of mine for the past 4 years to attend a WBO tournament at AN, so I'll have to see if it would be possible to reschedule the trip and fly up for the weekend instead. How much time do I have until tickets are sold out?
You should be OK for another little while but the sooner the purchase, the better obviously.

Really hope you can make it! I guarantee you'll have a great experience meeting everyone if you do. Smile
I will see if I can come.

Is there also a team that I can join?
No HMS? I'm wounded.

I'm ... so sorry. I was wounded too!

Since Burst has launched internationally this year and since HMS is becoming harder and harder to gather enough people to play who have the actual parts to play competitively, it became hard to justify its inclusion this year.  Going all-in on Burst given its increased popularity (and being able to do Team Format Burst on one day in an environment where there would be plenty of teams too) while still appeasing the crowd of players and kids who are both interested in and can play competitively with Metal Fight Beyblade–a demographic that is much larger than the one interested in HMS specifically at this point–made the most sense to us this year.

But that doesn't mean HMS is dead ... there's a certain 10 year anniversary coming up in 2018, after all. Wink
I'll need to check my Calender cause my sister is graduating from university around that time.

Edit: looks like I'm good! But I'm gonna wait a little until I buy my tickets
Is there a way for me to get tickets with normal cash?

I feel really old now, haha. I guess I should start studying up on burst once again.

I wouldn't wait if I were you! Weekend Passes routinely sell out. You might be able to get a Friday Pass still if you wait, but I wouldn't chance it.

Other than buying a pass at the door (which is unlikely to be available, especially for Saturday and definitely not for a Weekend Pass), I don't believe so, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Other than pre-registering online, you can also do so by regular mail with a cheque or money order. Details here: http://www.animenorth.com/live/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=888&Itemid=234#RegularMail

Haha, you're telling me. You should! Let me know if you have any questions.
So the event is only on saturday and sunday? At least just for the WBO

There are different WBO tournamnets on all three days

We have events each day of the convention, as the opening post states! There is threads for all three (with this one being for the Friday event).
Do they ask you for ID to confirm your age? Cause there's no way I'm paying 60 for the weekend

I'm not sure. But keep in mind that the cost of the pass grants you access to the entire convention, not just our events!
It's just annoying cause by that time I will only have been 14 for a month !_!

if i would have went i would have payed for the child pass, and i would be 14 and 1/2.
how would they ID you anyway
I bought my weekend pass a few weeks ago, but as of right now I'm officially signed up! Originally, I was planning on forming a team with some combination of Angry Face, myself, Cake, and The Supreme One, but unfortunately it looks like out of the four of us only Cake and I will be able to attend. (Maybe next year?)

With that being said, we're now looking for a third team member if anyone is interested, haha.
Hi me and Befall2.0 are a team still debating who is going to be our 3rd member get ready your about to be caught in a big pickle
I'm looking for a team to join!
