11:30 AM - GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT 2: WBO NA Championship 2014

The WBO is proud to announce that we will be partnering with ANIME NORTH 2014–for the seventh consecutive year–to host GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT 2: WBO North American Championship 2014! With Bladers from across the continent will be battling it out for the title of WBO North American Champion, the competition will surely be intense.

Want to participate?
GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT 2 will be open to the public, but if you live in North America, and aren't able to afford the trip up to Toronto? Don't worry! We've got you covered; win one of our qualifier tournaments and you'll win paid travel expenses up to Toronto! Here's the list of qualifiers currently planned:

This list is likely not final, so please stay tuned for updates about more qualifiers in the coming days/weeks!

View the full announcement here for details!

Entry: You need an AN Pass!
A Blader Passport is not required for this tournament, as AN does not allow event organizers to charge entry fees for events within the convention. However, if you want to support the WBO so we can host even better tournaments with even better prizes in the future, and participate in the BeyPoints ranking System in future tournaments, then you will need one! So, if you wish to purchase one at the tournament, that is still possible.

To participate in the tournament, you currently have a few options to gain entrance: a) a weekend pass or b) a day pass for Saturday at AN. Click here for information about online registration for ANIME NORTH 2014. Please note that children (ages 6-13) are admitted for half price.

This year will mark the tenth AN tournament since the original GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT at Anime North 2005. The fact that we’re all here to recognize this anniversary of sorts can only be a testament to the collective passion we all share for this game, and more importantly, to the longevity and resolution of this community to move forward in the face of uncertainty. Additionally, the new Limited Format is the best recent examples of this, and that’s why it has been chosen as the format for the championship this year. It’s something we alone created as a community, and it’s something we will watch and help grow as time passes, all as a result of our own will and determination.

Many people have come and gone since that day at Anime North 2005 almost ten years ago, but what hasn’t changed, and what won’t change–unless we let it–is the tradition. Regardless of who attends each year and who doesn’t, the experience of meeting Bladers from across North America–and the world–each year is absolutely unforgettable, inspiring, and special. As an organization who’s very existence is so deeply rooted in the idea of competitive play and interacting with others, I have always found it hard to think of anything else which embodies what the WBO is about more than the AN weekend every year. Wherever you are, if you have the chance to attend, take it. And with that said …

If you think you'll be able to make it out to GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT 2, please post here and I will start building an attendance list!

YES THIS IS EXCELLENT

MARYLAND IS OFFICIALLY THE BEST YAY.

Congrats guys.
Ayyyyy, come see us in MD, Muchas gracias Kai-v
YEAH!!!! MD FTW!!!!
Congrats Geetster!

We were actually expecting you to win over here. XD

Super duper excited to see that Dark placed! We didn't win, but third is definitely better than nothing!

Time to plan a trip to Maryland and clean house. Wink
I had such a great time seeing everyone once more! This event is most certainly among one of my favourite ones.

I did pretty horrible today, hah. I actually went 1-4. Hopefully this won't decrease my rank too much, once processed.

Congratulations to all the placers! Hope you all enjoyed today, and your prizes.

Anyways, #GeetsterKillsGBT2.

If anything, Libra and Earth dominated most of the battles.

I haven't seen too much of Scythe either. I remember using MF-H Scythe_CH120RF all of once against Leone19, and you know ... lost. I also remember seeing you use Scythe_TH170D or something along the lines of that against me today, Kai-V.

I saw Yuko using an Omega attacker earlier this event, but didn't see too much of it after that. I used it once against Fang Wolf, and ... lost once again.

I saw some use of Lightning today as well, especially from Sniper.

It was very cool that the finalists were all the qualifiers, except that Dark_Mousy replaced Leone19.

I was just a battle away, haha.

I'm happy I came literally 3 from placing, though. That was pretty nice, considering what I used to beat Midnight's Scythe and Kei's Wyang was literally thought of and put together right before I flew out.

You wish, so many new beypoints for me to steal from sniper Aru and geetster, wish I could've been stealing them from the rest of North America with those fools, but alas it was not meant to be
Wow, today was great! I went 2-3 which was not that good, but the battles and competitors were really unexpected!
Battling other people than Toronto bladers put up a big challenge and excitement not knowing what to use.

Congrats to Geetster99, Sniper, and Dark_Mousy! And good job to everyone else who participated!
(May. 24, 2014  9:34 PM)Leone19 Wrote: Great time today. Met awesome members. I had a final score of 3-2, one win away from making the finals. I believe this tied me with LMAO for sixth place.

If it means anything, I believe this got CT the "fourth best", seeing two placers were from MD.

That means with 2-3, i come eight, pretty good for my first tourney. Especially NORTH AMERICA WIDE. I'm happy!

In the end, How many did geester and sniper lose?
I think I heard that geetster99 was undefeated (to be confirmed), and I heard that meant 9-0. Sniper lost at least twice.
I lost once today and sniper lost twice

Congrats geetster99, really thought that Kei or Dark_Mousy was gonna take it. How did the matchups go, which was the most epic?

The "most epic" in General had to be when Dark battled Kei.

Personally, it was in my fifth and last match, when I played him.

Yeah, my Libra was able to beat Scythe, when I launched it to stall. Honestly I only saw one or two Omega uses and a few Scythe uses. I was surprised to see a lot more Stamina/Defense than expected- many wanted to "play it safe", haha.
Out of curiosity how many people participated in GBT2?
We had twenty-six or so people. Less than last year, but we even had as much promotion as we could dream of.
GINGA WAS AT GBT2!!!!

I hope you used a Pegasus atleast once Leone19 Serious
Yesterdays tournament was alot of fun, i had a record of 3-2 same as leone19, so i got 6th place, i made alot of mistakes lol, i got to admit.
Part 2 of the tournament is up on Zankye channel for everyone to know.

http://worldbeyblade.org/Thread-A-Meta-Analysis
Hi everyone! I just got home a little while ago. There's so many things I could say about this past weekend, but I'm not sure I have the energy to do so right now. Most of all I want to thank everyone who came! It was a pleasure meeting all of you again, or for the first time. And for me, what I enjoy the most about this weekend every year–above even competing, perhaps–is being able to bring people together not only from around Toronto, but North America. So, thank you for coming.

I hope each of you are able to make it again next year. For anyone reading this who considered coming this year but wasn't able to or decided not to, you seriously missed out! To me, the most important aspect of the WBO has always been our events in real life, and the opportunities that brings to meet, interact with, have fun, and create relationships with people through our passion for Beyblade. I remember several years ago Spinster/Bey Brad said in the "A Chat About Beyblade" video on BeybladeChannel that while it is Beyblade that brought us together and part of what makes our friendships fun, it isn't what necessarily keeps us together. What I have seen at our Anime North tournaments over the past six years has always been the epitome of this in my eyes.

I just uploaded all of the photos I took to the WBO Facebook, so check them out!

Here are some of my favourites, though:

Kai-V (Yes, Kai-V), and Benjamin Israel (Toby_Faust)

Sexy medals! Can't wait to get them!
Damn...Geetster came in 1st-4th in all 5 tournaments. How??? haha
Looks awesome though. Wish I could have been there.
