Team MD Hits the Club!
Silver Spring, MD Burst Format Unranked
3:00PM on 09/21/2019
Hi all! Putting up a thread for an afternoon meetup the day before our Sunday tournament. Hoping to make this a more regular occurrence on tournament weekends. Parents, please note that this is a short unranked and informal event.
Host: The Supreme One
Format: Club format! Since club by definition is very flexible, so are the plans for this mini-tournament. We will likely try out the winning streak format, as well as a deck-draft format I have been crafting on my own. If we get over 7 players, we'll run a standard unranked tournament and experiment with club formats afterwards.
Time: 3:00PM - 5:00PM. Stay late for board games!

If you aren’t sure if you can come, please don’t join! Club is capped at 7 players, but if we get more we’ll just make it an unranked, non-club tournament.

Today was a fun change of pace! We had a few latecomers, so we ended up starting a little before 4, after warming up with a winning streak format event. For those who are unfamiliar with winning streak, a timer is set for 20 minutes; the player with the highest rank sits at the head of the stadium while others form a line behind them and take their place if they win. We ran the format with just 1 round per person and it quickly became clear that those who ran attack dominated in wins. The top 3, Yami, myself, and Beymaster, ran almost exclusively attack to much success. Winning combos included Judgment Diabolos Destroy', Judgment Diabolos Volcanic', Zwei Longinus Dimension' and Zwei Longinus Quick'.
Once FighterBro and SuperTheComic showed up we ran our main event - a 10 person experimental WBBA deck format tournament (with WBO format for finals). The tables quickly turned, as people began pulling out safer stamina combinations that shut down attack more consistently. The format took longer than expected, but wrapped up relatively quickly (in roughly 2 hours) since WBBA deck format doesn't add much time to a traditional round robin. Congratulations to our placers!

EDIT: Actually I think I also may have had Judgement Diabolos.0(Black)B.Qc' in there for a while in first stage, but I can't remember.
