TAKARA-TOMY announces new, third Beyblade generation: Beyblade Burst! ベイブレードバースト

(Apr. 16, 2015  3:10 AM)~Mana~ Wrote: Lastly, the use of NFC inside Beys is definitely mentioned. Apparently each piece of the Bey has an NFC chip on/in it which will be fully used in the future when they aim to release cases for the Beyblades. The NFC chip will store battle results on it and the data can apparently also be read as well. (I'm guessing that's for shop use then? Maybe a "Bring in a Beyblade with 100 synced NFC wins and we'll give you a special edition Beyblade!")

Damn, so they only mentioned NFC, they never actually stated how it's going to be used. But that's electronic, won't the chip need to be charged somehow?

(Apr. 16, 2015  3:10 AM)~Mana~ Wrote: EDIT: Almost missed something; the press release mentions something about breaking the international barriers between players using the BeyCloud system, allowing players to all enjoy the same game together. I'm guessing that's why "country" is listed on that example they showed.

I feel like this is going to backfire. The series probably won't come out in America until after the anime is released, so no matter what westerners are going to be lagging behind in the rankings unless there's more of a luck focus than skill.

Edit because I forgot to mention it: The burst system doesn't actually sound to bad by the way you explained it. Back in Bakuten Shoot Beyblade when they released Engine Gear Beyblades, the EG didn't always go off, but it was usually after receiving a really hard hit (If not when you were almost out of spin, if at all). I imagine that it will probably be similar to that.

This is actually really similar to what Sporkseller talked about a while back. Trying to mooch off of the success skylanders has had with NFC figurines. I think its safe to assume the NFC tie-in is for video game potential. Something along the lines of where continued use in the game makes the pieces of the blade more powerful in the game. On a side note, I actually had the idea for the in-game explosions a while back, only I came up with the name Shredder tops. I'm really excited about this as executed well this could drastically increase the excitement level of any given battle.
NFC doesn't use any power. The easiest way to think of it is like a flash drive. It stores data without needing a power source, but the data can only be accessed when connected to a host machine with power. In the case of a flash drive, a computer, in the case of skylanders, the portal.

Yes but that implies that the bey itself connects to something electronic, whether that be the BeyLogger or whathaveyou. (Actually that makes a lot of sense...)
i Do find the burst system is cool and the news as well.
but the NFC things remind me much of Infinity Nado, those tops by Audey. they just lack the beyCloud and international ranking so...
(Apr. 15, 2015  11:47 PM)Thunder Dome Wrote: Why is everyone complaining so much about this? You asked for beyblades and you got beyblades, stop being so picky. Also since nobody has hardly any info on how they interact in match and how often the "burst" mechanic works I think people need to stop saying that it ruined the game. We don't even know how often it could happen. Also I think the designs are pretty good. I'm not really sure why there is so much complain about it but I guess that is personal opinion. The online function is pretty cool and I'm really happy they are trying to keep the game classic, but add some more that makes it more modern. And I think "burst" is a really cool mechanic. Exploding always gets people excited in tournaments and it would be cool to see how this changes the game. Although I doubt this will happen a lot, but we won't know till we find out. Just saying I think the complaining should wait until members actually get their hands on these.

Because both the gimmick and beyblades look terrible.
With the way NFC connects between such short ranges and it seems each piece of a Beyblade will have an NFC chip of its own I can guess they sync together to make sure the Beyblade is fair and functional. Anti Cheating and score tracking I guess. If they fall apart then the tracker can tell who lost. I like this idea! I'm worried about the locking mechanism wearing down over heavy use but I don't exactly know what it looks like yet. This revived my interest in the game. I don't know anyone to play with but if I can find one or two people then at least we can compete online. I'm excited! Smile
I do wish they made something more innovative, but still, I can hardly contain my excitement, I thought I would have to wait at least a few years before Beyblade came back, so this is still nice news and it will hopefully make the game more relevant again.
One thing I am hoping for is a removable "spirit" piece, because it seems like there is an engraved portion on top of the Driver area, does anyone know if that piece can be taken out? it almost looks like it, and it's very Bit Protector-esque, but if it's confirmed that it's a 3 part system, then I'm doubtful. I feel very strongly that the piece that is designated to house the "spirit" should always be removable, regardless of whether or not it's decorative, because it would be a bit frustrating to me personally if you had to change the spirit symbol whenever you change the Driver.
Don't know if this was mentioned, but I'm assuming the NFC chip inside the bey will interact with the beylogger in the event of a loss/win. Say, your bey bursts into pieces, it would immediately register to the beylogger as a loss. How it detects wins, i'm not sure. Possibly the winning bey will interact with the losing bey, pick up that it was a loss and register it as a win into the other players beylogger. Of course, this is just speculation on my end.

I think the burst idea is pretty neat. Yeah battles will probably end sooner, but remember this is all we know so far. They might release bey in the future that are harder to break apart. Possibly a new type? Might replace stamina in the same way stamina type replaced endurance type from the old gen beys. Who knows. Pretty dope, though.
Ok, finally something i can talk about outside of the off topic section. Now lets see, how should it do this....

My first impressions:
Yay, new series! This could help get Australia's scene back in action, with various formats due to being so close to last season. In terms of how the burst system works, ill get into detail later, but I personally think it COULD work really well. The designs i think would look amazing if it had solid colors for the top part instead of this current clear stuff that just looks flimsy and fake. Glad they are prototypes so they could fix this. If they don't, i wont be too bummed, I will still buy them and there will be some cools ones eventually, in fact I rather like ragnarok's design. Beylogger system? Neat, kinda wish I had a proper smartphone now but I still want one either way. Stadium kinda looks weird, but that won't matter much. I hope hasbro dont mess with it, because it kinda looks like a cross between a hasbro design and a takara design (I think I said the same for the zero g stadiums). I like the launcher, and how the Logger connects to it, to the point it could act like a grip (not as good as the actual grip, but still).

My in depth analysis of the burst system:
I have come up with some assumptions on how the burst system works. If you look at the Driver part, you can easily notice the white parts, which i assume to be the working parts for the burst, as the white "nubs" on the edge look like they can be moved in to affect the center white "ring" to release the disk and layer parts. Now if you look at the disk, there is "slots" which I originally assumed where for the white "nubs", but looking back it seems to be for another part of the driver, but I assume that because the disk covers these white nubs, it works much like how Diablo Nemesis works, where if the disk is pushed hard enough, it will trigger the burst effect. This would mean that you would either need to hit the whole beyblade with enough force or directly hit the metal disk to actually trigger the burst effect, and with the plastic layer being the main contact point, this could prove to be more difficult than simply out-spinning an opposing beyblade, but about equal with knocking one out of the stadium. These are early assumptions though so it could very much be different, but if this is the case, then the system could work out well.

I really wonder what will happen with Hasbro doing that or not since it seems to be asking for more significance than a Beypointer.

To be honest, will Hasbro doing telepods and some new things incorpating technology in it (Twister thing, and more I don't have time to list), I feel like this would be a great idea for them to do. The kids would probably try to win battles and be number one.

It will get way too competitive and I feel this may distract players from doing their everyday things because it can be addicting to reach no.1. I honestly can't see this going well.

@[~Mana~] I know the second season was voiced but they were too radically different, I don't see why, they did this with B-Daman fire Spirits as well, both the second season dubs were too different and they weren't that good, they were very obscure as well.

Eh...I don't really see where you're coming from with that argument. Making the game more addicting is exactly what they aim to do because they'll profit from sustained player interest. It's a smart move and most PvP video games already do it. I don't think kids are going to be sent off to rehab because their Beyblade battling addiction is upsetting their lifestyle haha
I still feel like this could have the same issues that the Beypointer did: cheating. Friends battling and intentionally losing or a person battling against himself for whatever reasons to gain points. I feel like the WBO rankings will still be the most fool-proof, haha.
Imo all the new stuff looks promising i say looks because these are obviously still in the works

The new burst system looks like a new and interesting way to win. I no people are concerned that the competitive notion might be taken away with burst but i realy think it wont be as easy to burst the opponents as the videos weve seen make out. Comming from the original gen the prospect of the new beys with nfc and the bey counter look to me even better than the first ever beys.

Seems like there getting the right combination of technology and toys with this product i think its realy innovative Smile

As far as people cheeting with the bey points i think people should expect this. Who cares wer they rank when you can just play them and prive your better uno?

Love this site and all the people on it seem realy cool i cant wait for this next step in blading to take off and inject the game with mew players amd interest again!!! Smile

Can't Wait ! i put my eyes on Ragnaruk Survive type !

I really think so too. That is why I have not placed much focus on that in this thread or in the Beywiki article : it will seem nice, but it will be abused, it is definitely broken upon release. It is not better 'ethically' than what we have here with our BeyPoint System, except the fact that someone does not need to manually enter results, hah.

By the way, Wizard, Amiibos have NFC chips as well as far as I know, and you do not need to recharge that. You just tap it with the NFC inside the Wii U Game Pad and it recognises it, it exchanges data.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. The ideas and concepts are there, but just because it's being used as the BeyPointer, it definitely won't be accurate or reflective. Seeing how for Transformers RID both Hasbro and Takara seem to be using app-based tie ins with the figures, it makes me think Hasbro may import the Logger, but modified, perhaps.

I was just thinking after reading what people were saying about Skylanders and NFC videogame interaction (Beylanders, anyone?)- maybe it's to use in the Bey Ta machine? Rather than a real battle against a "drone" Beyblade, maybe it's to "transfer" the data into the arcade machine and virtually play? Not sure if this was mentioned yet, not going through 8+ pages to look, haha.

On the contrary, I think Hasbro will LOVE this. They've been incorporating apps and stuff itno their own toys for a little while now, such as the new Transformers line that has a scan-and-play app feature on each of the figures.

I think the reason for all these tech-based things in toys is because kids these days are just not playing with toys as much anymore, they've got video-games and tablets and phones to occupy their time. I have two cousins, years 7 and 3, and they both play with their tablets and have a ton of toys that mostly stay in a box and aren't touched for more than a few minutes. So these toy companies have to compete with that or they won't sell enough product.

That's my main concern with this line. Idk how it will work, but I'm wondering if this Beypoint system is something that you have to have(me not having a phone atm) and how it will affect testing parts and stuff like that. Of course, the guys demonstrating these toys didn't seem to worry too much about that, which gives me hope...

I mentioned that TF app a few posts up, haha. Like I mentioned, I think Hasbro may slightly modify it to make it more "Western" or something like that, but hopefully they'd release it, since the NFC seems to be another big factor with these.

I doubt it's something necessary, since only 2 of the starters come with a Logger. It's probably existing for people who care about their "ranking" and things like that, but other kids may just be content with their battling tops.

I don't think it'd be a big deal with testing on the WBO, at least, since we use a different ranking system.
Yes, definitely do not worry about it affecting testing, unless you plan to sometimes connect your BeyLogger to a smartphone and sometimes test : perhaps the whole data gets put in the BeyCloud, hah. In any case, for my part, I will just not be part of the BeyCloud.

By the way, I am just reposting this video because they finally added it to YouTube instead of having it firmly embedded inside a website :
Don't think the Beylogger or the legitimacy of the scoring system is worth that much discussion. It's for little kids. It won't be a seriously competitive ranking system, and it most definitely will be overwhelmed with cheating.

Tracking wins and losses in non-organized play doesn't seem great to me anyway.
Wow, just lookin' at the battling videos made by that news network its already made me even more hyped for this, personally, about the BeyCloud and the BeyLogger and stuffz, I wouldn't use it at all cause I dont have a smartphone, heck, even my parents don't have a smartphone. Of course people will cheat it, there are always people like that in the world, sadly.
