So, I'm pretty much 99.99% getting braces sometime in January. What kind of pain should I be expecting? I always thought tey looked cool, but I'm very concerned with the pain.

Stinging, lots of it. Best thing to do is get yourself pumped before you go so adrenaline dumbs down the pain. I'm not a fan of anesthesias so I siding use any. With them though, I'd imagine it wouldn't be too bad.

Veteran, just getting back into the sway of things

Braces are really not that bad if you do not get elastic bands along the way. For me it hurt for a whole week everytime they made changes, but apparently almost everybody else only has one or two days of pain after each modification.

What about those Invisalign things? I heard they were good from my friends mom as an alternative to braces.

I'm not fully sure how well those work, personally, I had braces myself, up until two years ago.


They aren't too painful once you get used to them, but the first few days after they are put on/tightened, they can be pretty sore. Using wax can help prevent poking wires from causing too much discomfort.

One thing about braces, is to be sure to floss/use those "poker's" they give you, after you eat every so often. Food will get stuck in your braces and it's not pretty, haha.

Do any of you guys have a friend whose mind you can read? This happened to me today at a high school open house:

Me and my friend are watching a presentation onstage, I look slightly to the right, see girl. I think she knows I am staring, so I look down.

My friend looks the same way and sees her with a whole new reaction.

Me:...! (Trainer RED!!!)
Him: Dude, dude, dude! LOOK! LOOK!
Me: Yes, I see.
I spend the next 10 minutes calming him down, as they are staring at each other now. I felt so awkward.
He spent the rest of the time there looking for her.

Just started re-watching Yu Yu Hakusho. Forgot how good the story is, especially the Dark Tournament arc when Yu Yu fought Taguro *_* dat was PRO. Now only if the creator could actually re produce the show like he did with Hunter x Hunter. It'd be cool if the story was changed a bit if he did re-produce the anime. IMO, Yu Yu Hakusho is better than Hunter x Hunter and has more brutal martial arts action in it too.
