The reason why I ask this is because I’m going into college and I recently returned to beyblade but people around me think it’s weird and childish. It’s enough to get me thinking but then I see large YouTubers that are older than me and they are really into beyblade. Any pieces of advice?
Is it strange for an 18 year old to love beyblade?
Advice. Don't listen to those who say you're too old for Beyblade. You should be able to enjoy your hobby you love as long as you want to. And yeah in this community, being around 18 and enjoying beyblade is rather common and absolutely not out of the ordinary.
EDIT: I'm 19 by the way.
EDIT: I'm 19 by the way.
Bro, I'm going to attend my first tournament this weekend and I'm 19 years old. If you don't care what people think then they generally won't bother you for what you do. I have a girlfriend and she never thought I was childish she just couldn't relate to my attachment to anime & hobbies that I've had for years, but since she likes me and sees how it makes me happy, she's learned to like it to and has never judged me for collecting beyblade or anything. Alot of my friends know I collect beyblade and none of them judge me, a few of them even think it's still pretty cool (since my age group grew up with the original series) an they've remembered how they used to like it. So if anyone asks, just open up to your peers on why you blade, and why you're into your hobbies and 9/10 they won't judge you. But if someone is bringing you down for playing then just keep them out of your life. It's a shame to miss out on something you love just because other people's opinions of it bother you.
And actually participating in this community makes me feel proud to say that I play beyblade

I am 20 and a girl...Normally U dont see girls liking beyblades...a few months ago I was sad since people laughed at me for liking beyblades and they still laugh at me...My brother laughed at me just 2 days ago when he found out about my liking of beyblades and what exactly WBO is...
U know what...I just learned an inportant lesson from each member of WBO member here...That U dont have to pretend on being someone. Just be U and love what U love...I love beyblade and thats it...I dont care what people think about me. I am a girl...I am 20 ....Bla bla bla...If they dare to say anything...With my knowledge of beyblades I shut them up...And just order them to mind their own bussiness...So nowadays...They dont disturb me and I am glad....And all thanx to the members here for giving me support and strength to fight back by shutting people up.
Coz its ur life and U didnt come into this world to entertain others

well said @[Eleanor] im glad to know that our community is diverse in our older age group as well! i think adult bladers should all encourage eachother and be friends. cus we're the only people who have this hobby in common so we gotta band together and uplift eachother
Guys im 28, don't feel bad atall! I also play magic cards, Legos, and watch all the anime. Haters going to hate because they know in there hearts there having less fun than you!
You can never be too old to play Beyblade! It's for ages 8 and up, and you're the up! So yeah, you can never be too old for Beyblade by that logic!
I'm 21 and absolutely love the game I wanna attend tournaments to test myself and my "abilities" my parents rather me not play the game but I have a job and pay bills so it's not a huge deal. I love it my friend loves and we're going to a tournament later this month

Right there's your problem. It isn't you, it's the people around you. Consider if they're worth your time. Are they just lacking sense in this case, or do you actually need better friends and other people in your life?
I'm an adult who recently got back into Beyblade. My friends I see most often are older than me, and though they aren't interested in Beyblade themselves, they are supportive of my hobby and ask me questions about it like good friends do.
Some people in this hobby are twice your age!
Once again, a quote I find helpful by C.S. Lewis, author of the Chronicles of Narnia:
Quote:Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development.
When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

Nice quote, that's really profound.
Even if I were to abide by the general view of what being a grown up is when interests come to mind, wanting to grow up too quickly can be really bad too. You can be a grown up later anytime, and it'll last the rest of your life, but being a kid doesn't last forever, so why not just enjoy it while it lasts rather than try and rush on to be a grown up.
Of course I would only believe this if I was having doubts and less confidence about liking this hobby as a 19 year old. There shouldn't be anything to be ashamed of and no one should make you question whether it's okay or not, we don't need anyones permission to enjoy a hobby we like.

33 here and i have always loved beyblade your never to old for hobbies you love

You really shouldn't be ashamed of playing beyblade. Beyblade is about having fun, and through the WBO, you meet new people. Maybe even develop a few friendships. There are so many people around the world who like beyblade. Like you said, there are many BeyTubers who are adults. Do they get laughed at? Probably. However, they still endure through it and post videos because the videos are about something they like, and something that many others like. Although I'm only 13, people still tease me about playing beyblade. They think it is childish. It's just that people don't understand how fun blading is. For instance, three of my friends told me that blading is fun once they tried it, but they had teased me before. They don't anymore. Look, I just take what everyone says about me with a grain of salt. You should too. Once you start accepting the fact that no matter how hard you try, some people will keep on bugging you, you eventually become immune to what people say. Sometimes, it is bad to ignore people who are talking to you. But in this case, if they are saying things that are rude or condescending, in a sense that beyblading makes you worse than them, just ignore them (or accept it). A lot of people think that beyblade is a game for children. It's true that the goal of beyblade is to intrigue children and make them buy products. However, it doesn't matter who plays with them. Just because LEGOs are for children (1-18 ish) doesn't mean adults don't play with them. Some people make incredible things with LEGOs. It's the same with video games like Minecraft. There are those people who judge people who play Minecraft, Roblox, Pixel Gun, etc. but people who play those games still play. It might be hard to take in all the things people say about you, as it was hard for me. Just because something was directed towards one category doesn't mean people in other categories can't access/use them (gender, age). Basically, I'm telling you not to worry to much about what other people say about you. I know it can be hard if people judge you. But those people are wrong. If you love beyblade, then continue to blade. A
Although you might not care about this because it was written by a 13 year old, I hope that you at least learned something. Middle school is tough. People become judgmental, and there are those people who just want to act cool and impress people of the opposite gender. Not many people enjoy studying (I do) or have many hobbies- they just play video games, watch TV, sleep, and do all kinds of lazy things. At least blading is much better than that. As I've said, just accept it or ignore it. Don't be stressed out about what other people say about you.
Hopefully, people will stop bugging you soon. Take care.

Honestly I started to beyblade right when the metal series came to the America’s and my love for beyblade has never left me. Honestly knowing there’s people my age and older who love beyblade makes me more proud to say it. I was called childish and immature but at least for myself I’d rather see myself continue beyblading than to do half of the stuff that is considered normal for young adults to do.
Bro, Pokemon and yugioh were around that time. There is no reason to feel emberassed. I've seen Grandmas and Grandpas playing Pokemon.

That is very true. People think I’m childish for liking beyblade but people don’t even look at someone who plays Yugioh and Pokémon. I don’t understand the stigma around beyblade and why it’s seen as ridiculous compared to other anime related things. Ive liked beyblade since the metal saga came to the Americas and while I’m not a huge fan of beyblade burst my love for beyblade will never leave.
Since I go to school again, even with 20 years, beyblade keeps me up. My school teaches the Students to be strict, smart and realistic, so people like me doesnt fit into this System. So everyday when I Come Home i Start my training first, 2 hours a day on average. I only have one friend who is also my rival, but I am ok with Training alone, cause thanks to him I know how to become stronger and more focused.
Even my mom, who is a tough teacher says that something like beyblade is necessary for a young human

The "I'm an adult who likes Beyblade, is that okay?" topic is a popular one here. Check out So I feel old. You are not the only blader old enough to vote, nor the oldest, rest assured. Anyone who would ridicule you is not worth your time. Don't allow them any power over you.
As someone stressed by school (especially since I will be doing the college entrance exams in less than two years), beyblade offers me a great way to relax and enjoy the sport.
Nah son, I'm 20 haha and I love my beys!
I'm a 27 year old woman who actively got back into Beyblade in late 2017, and yeah, I've had folks give me some weird looks and a couple not so great comments about my age, but in the end, what I do doesn't affect their lives. From Bakuten Shoot to Burst, I grew up with it, I love it, and am happy I get to enjoy it as an adult who can afford the hobby (finally! :p). That their only criticism is my age makes them not worth my time.
Try your best not to feel ashamed, don't let their words get to you, and keep doing what you enjoy, whether it be Beyblade or something else others deem "childish." I spent too many years ashamed to the point I totally dropped it and ironically, it took growing up for me to realize there's nothing childish or shameful in doing what I love, much like the excellent C. S. Lewis quote above.
It's awesome that there's an amazing, supportive community here of all ages proving that us older adults are into it too! You're definitely not alone.

I'm a full grown flipping 28 year old man married with a family of 3 in full time work in an office job, the completely wrong demographic but heck do I care what people think, my colleagues know I like it but respect it, don't care what others think either, as long as you're confident with it I think peeps wont cross you about it, enjoy you hobby in a time where everyone's hobbies are viral social media trends!
No it isn’t
I'm 18 and people act the same towards ke but I don't let it get to me. My mom doesn't care and my Dad thinks it's a waste of money but at least I'm paying my bills! My girlfriend and best friend don't care, I'm definitely a bit too "ashamed" to let people at work or school know about it though, for now at least.
