Meet at the Beach Ball Stage in the Center of the Park
I have finally gathered up enough free time to host my first tournament. For this go-around, we'll be running Burst Standard. (Depending on how this goes, maybe Burst Classic next?)
Our current tournament date is Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at Irving Square Park for a Beyblade Burst Format tournament!
Important Information:
1. Tournament Registration begins at 11:30am.
Please plan to arrive at the park before registration starts. The later you arrive, the longer it will take to start the tournament.
2. The Tournament begins at 12:00pm.
You will not be able to register after 12:00pm. Even if you are joined to this tournament on this thread, if you are not registered by 12:00pm or arrive after 12:00pm we will be unable to fit you into the bracket.
Tournament System:
Depending on the number of participants we will use one of the following systems to run the first stage of this tournament:
Swiss (17 - 32 Players):
Bladers play 5 rounds. After the first round, bladers are paired based on their match history. Bladers with the highest records face each other, then the second-highest, etc. The top eight players advance to the final stage.
Double Elimination (33+ Players):
In Double Elimination, there are two brackets: the Winners Bracket and Losers Bracket. After losing once, Bladers are sent to the Losers Bracket. If they lose for a second time, they are eliminated from the event. Once both brackets have been completed, the top eight players (top four from the Winners Bracket, top four from the Losers Bracket) advance to the final stage.
UPDATE: This tournament will have a 40 PARTICIPANT CAP. Please join soon if you would like to participate. Joining secures you a spot on the participant list down below!

We only need one more blader for an even number of 20

Right, sorry. It's just a surprise seeing him here.

The amount of hassle involved in creating an app and keeping the app up to date and keeping the app secure is absurd.
The WBO is a non-profit volunteer run organization. Making an app is outside the scope.
And this is the wrong thread for this idea.

New beyblade character

And some of them are going to have irate parents. There was a decent amount of backlash at the one double elimination tournament they did in Toronto. If you think running a lot of matches is hard, imagine running matches while angry parents are yelling at you.
Combine that with how some bladers are going to be disinclined to attend if you're leaning towards Double Elimination, you might lose some bladers if it gets towards 32 registrants.
Double elimination is more trouble than it's worth at 33-64 participants.
Just wanted to chime in quickly here: we've been running Double Elimination in Toronto a lot here for a while now (we still do Swiss too of course, depending on the event size, weather, number of judges, etc) and there has never really been any backlash for it. In fact, I think many parents appreciate that the tournament may not last as long as it would using Swiss (I find that parents are often surprised to hear how long the tournament will take when they ask). Being eliminated after two losses is tough, but also still fair and understandable as the event size increases.
Maybe some people would be upset by it, but our potential format guidelines are publicly posted and if you explain how the format works before the tournament begins, there will be no surprises for anyone. If anything, maybe it's worth posting more explicitly in the event description what formats could potentially be used.
We received some backlash at BEYBLADE SHOGATSU 2019, which was Double Elimination ... with over 160 people. That was due to issues entirely separate from anything people didn't like about DE specifically.
33 player Swiss is certainly not bad especially if you have many judges and stadiums running simultaneously, but in this case as a new Organizer, I think @[LazerBeamz] has the right idea here. Better to play it safe and do something you're confident you can execute effectively than risk doing something which might not work out as well. Part of the reason we allow for some overlap here with DE and Swiss is to give Organizers options; what is comfortable for one Organizer may not be to another due to their inexperience, staffing, venue, time, and various other factors.
Our events have been getting so big lately and I think that this is amazing, but I also think that it's important for us to take a step back and make sure our ambition isn't getting in the way of us running events as effectively as possible, even if they end up being smaller.

Appreciate the feedback @[Kei]. I've gone ahead and updated the event description to further clarify the possible formats for this tournament.
@[NewRocChampion1] Currently, we have 25 players registered. As of now, the Tournament Format for this event will be Swiss. Keep in mind that we are still a week away from the tournament. If we end up having 33 or more players registered by Saturday night, then the Tournament Format for this event will be Double Elimination. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.
See you all in 7 days!
