Yes.

Actually, the entire game has been revamped that you can control the entire game using the touch-pad with the D-Pad for movement.

I seem to be one of the few who likes the new interface, I hold the DS with my left hand for the d-pad, and my right hand has the stylus that controls everything else. I find it very quick and comfortable.
The touch screen has all the buttons from the menu (Pokedex, Bag, Save, etc) along with your shortcut button, a button to toggle running on and off and the "A" button.
And when you go into the boxes, You can drag pokemon around using the stylus.

I heard of a lot of people disliking it, but it tends to be from left handers (since it means you use the D-pad on the same hand that you would hold the stylus) and from people who use the buttons only (since the game is more designed around being able to tap whatever you want to do)

Yeah, being left handed is one of the main reasons why I hate it. It would not have been difficult for them to flip everything for left handed players ... It was quite ignorant for them not to think of something like that.

In any case however, D/P was much more efficient in my mind, the touch screen controls were there, but they were never forced and you rarely had to look up and down at both screens. The UI in HG/SS seems really scattered, and the touch screen interface is obviously forced. I went back to my Diamond version to compare the interfaces; it is much less clunky and just makes so much more sense. It is really needless what they did, and I don't understand the reasoning behind it.
I read a study once which said that only 0.7% of Japanese people are left handed compared to the 10% average across the world and US, so it would probably not occur to them to add that feature. It is not an uncommon problem though as certain high-end mice and so on have similar exclusions. I'm not trying to defend the situation as I think it is poor reasoning, just trying to explain the reason behind it.
If that's the case, it's very ignorant given the worldwide appeal of Pokemon.

A load of games have implemented this easily; by allowing the XYAB buttons to be used as a D-Pad, your left hand can be freed up for Stylus usage.
Reginald (my Spinarak) just caught a Magby in my Pokewalker Grin
In 3 days, I've racked up 17002 steps with this thing (I walk everyday, About an hour/hour-and-a-half's worth) so by clipping the walker on to me, I can find the rare pokemon and have enough Watts to try and catch one.

And I guess it's because I'm using the touch screen and not the buttons, But I find the controls in HG/SS to be much more efficient.
If I want to check my pokemon I just tap the "Pokemon" button on the bottom screen, If I was using the buttons I'd have to press X, use the D-Pad to move to the right button, then press A to go into it. The touch screen speeds everything up a little.

And I play way more DS games than any other console, so I'm used to glancing between the two screens often, so I don't find any problem. I think that for the most part, the Poketch on the bottom screen in D/P/Plt was mostly a waste. I barely used 90% of the functions.

I actually wish D/P/Plt used the touch screen like HG/SS does.
But of course, they really should have allowed the ABXY buttons to be used as the D-Pad for Lefties.

Oh... To the Train corner! And I want a Shiny Flalffy! I have Pretty Weak Pokemon... Highest I Got is 18. Fun Fact: Did You Know That Getting A Shiny Is About A 1/8769 or Something! God I've Never Got a Shiny... Unhappy
Sure I read the counter resets at midnight each day. :X If it doesn't, that's awesome. Can legitimately unlock cool places without shaking the thing.

As for the buttons, I'm more of a button user myself. However, I don't mind this as long as it's only for the start menu, pc, battles, etc. I never actually use a stylus anyways so I'll just be shifting my thumbs towards the middle whenever I want to tap something. Don't see why that method shouldn't remove any problems left handers are having either. Though I suppose not everyone likes to use their thumbs....

Also I am TOTALLY jealous of you two. I've never encountered a shiny Pokemon ever. D: And lord knows I've racked up enough hours over the years...
However, i have one problem With the pokewalker, what if you lose it? And the pokemon you have there is awesome. I would cry, i am getting the game today. Bought it online

If you lose the Pokewalker, or the battery goes dead, load up the game and go to "Connect to Pokewalker"
Put in some button combination, and it will give you back your Pokemon, in the exact same state it was when you put it into the pokewalker.

No, that was a pretty good example.

I can't believe my brother has already got the game and he didn't even get it online, instead he got it from a shop in Lakeside. To think they would import them and get them before America even has them is great, shame I can't get it right now though. Unhappy
went to go buy soul silver today at eb games but they said its not out yet does anyone know the release date for Australia, because Bladder seems to have one.
