Yellow was the anime-based installment, though it was still awesome at the time.
Yellow is the only exception. Otherwise, the anime has nothing to do with the game (Ontop of that, the anime is terrible, stick to the Pokemon Adventures manga)

Yellow is the fourth version.
The old games go:
Green (Not released in English aside from the remake) and Red, Blue, Yellow.

The Pokemon sprites were older, there were less things in the game apparently too. Not to mention a lack of many Pokemon missing from it.

Speaking of which, what do you think will happen in the Heart Gold and Soul Silver arc of the Manga? I get the feeling we'll see Gold with Guile's sword replacing his pool cue, or at least become one of his alternative items.
Since it's kind of hinted as we know Guile's sword wasn't destroyed, Gold is the one who killed him, ontop of that Gold is the only character who hasn't obtained anything from defeating an enemy. Plus Gold's liking for sword-like weapons.
I really don't know what to think but seeing that GS crossed over into other region , you may expect to see the other characters. Oh and that evil lady may come back

Actually, I can't imagine how the remake will like, especially the extra part (like from FR/LG's sevil islands)

i read a best of red volume a while ago... i don't see being all that much better. the characters don't really feel like people but caricatures
Very nice! Heard about it a couple of weeks ago, too.
I downloaded the special Jiraichi which is essential to unlock a hidden are in SS&HG called "Edge of the Night Sky". It was only avaiable for japanese gamers so i took my japanese version of Platin and connected to wifi-connection(had to follow a few steps to prepare that INGAME). Now i´m waiting for those to be released and can´t wait anymore to play that awsome game again(luckily i was one out of 500 people in germany who had the oppertunity to win a copy of Pokemon silver three weeks before its release - have a deed for that xD really!!)
I hope we´ll get that pikachu-pedometer, too(which will be come boxed with the game in japan).

Best of Red wasn't even an accurate part of the series. It's just a compilation of what they believe to be Red's best chapters. Red is too plain of a character until you get to the FR/LG Arc where he's a lot older and has more things on his mind. Other than that, it mostly starts to get interesting in the Yellow arc.

Ahh, I remember reading that and the Best of Yellow. Those did not make sense. I just love Ruby and Sapphire's relationship. Hope there is more in GS remake manga

Knowing the way it links up to the next series, it may just be Dia, Pearl, and Berlitz who appear in the HGSS Manga arc. They might not even include red (but they might, ya never know0 since they seem to like keeping the main characters the young ones in the Manga. Red'll be either 18 or 19 by the HG/SS Arc. Plus he has no enemy to actually fight anymore unless Team Rocket gets a new leader. Since we can tell Giovanni has changed his ways now that he found his son.
