No0b here,

What are scale lines? Are you referring to the diagonal lines that can be in signatures (Like DeX's current one)?

I think it kinda spruces it up, personally. At least it's different...

Yeah, but scanlines aren't always diagonal. I also think scanlines are meant to be put on selectively, and not cover the entire signature.
Well I use scan lines for my userbars. I mean i can understand if your sig is REALLY bright but...eh
Anyone like this?

I love the white outline around Stoutland.

By the way, I'm not very good at Using Gimp.
I'm pretty sure the white outline is a bad cut...
Also, why do you always have a color scheme like that? All I almost ever see is oil in water Tired

Stoutland! POKEMON FTW!

The cutting could use some work (Look who's talking Tired), but the backgrounds kinda cool...
another sig out of boredom not my best though

This is something I done using Othellogs's tutorial.(It really helped!)

Hmm, on the topic of programs. Should I start fresh by getting GIMP, which has more features, or continue to use Paint.NET, which I have years of experience with?

I like this one, although you shouldn't have used the brushes over the render.

Edit: Use GIMP and practice, but use Paint.Net when in contest.
BurnBlader, it needs more flow, and MewTwo's face shouldn't be coved that much, nor should it all look like it was done in one layer.
gimp u will love it is easy to use and you can get help from all of us get gimp it is incredibly easy to use.

Yeah. I agree with Flaming Aries. It's very easy to use after a couple of days. It can be confusing at first though.Chocked_2

The text entirely ruined the signature.
Does anyone like this? It might be my new Sig.

That's really not a GFX piece, more rather just two pictures on a gradient. Here's what you need to learn:

~Background Structure, learn to make cool backgrounds with similar bonds as focals.

- Create blending. Seriously, it would take me maybe: [2.5 seconds to make that with renders on .PNG TRNS]
I never actually posted here but here is a sig I made a few days ago [Image: dm-CY3U.png] what do you think??
not bad Tongue_out smallish though...it looks nicely cut
