There’s been talk lately about re-working the Burst Limit Format and for this event we used a proposed new ban list devised by
Dan (
see the ban list here). It's a more simplified ban list with less exceptions across the board, less Driver bans, and a greater focus on Cho-Z.
This unfortunately ended up being a very small tournament, but the impression Dan and I got after playing was positive.
He had initially intended to permit Maximum Garuda to be used with God Chips other than the stock one or Metal God Chip, but after a couple matches of him using it on Tapered (Hasbro) Bearing Drift we agreed that we had seen enough and for the sake of the experiment would stop using it. It basically just felt like a way to circumvent the fact that Garuda G3 was banned.
To be fair, it seemed to be most tight and problematic on Bearing Drift and not as much on Bearing’ … but if we went ahead with a ban list similar to this one for BSL in the future, we probably would rather keep things simple and just ban using other God Chips besides the stock or MGC on it.
We were also happy with where the newly unbanned Spriggan Requiem and Spryzen Requiem seemed to fit in. It’s light enough to be bullied hard by the top attack types in this format, so its proficiency for opposite spin stamina matchups is balanced by that fact and that there are likely better same-spin options than it.
