A day or two back, I'm pretty sure the exact same user made an account named MiddayLWBO. Reminds you of someone, eh?

Seriously, its just plain stupid.

That's 2 people that made multiple accounts based off other's username 's (probably just to annoy them...). I changed my username to names based off others just for laughs and changed it back a few minutes after, but making new accounts, not cool.

Happy second year anniversary on the forum, Tri! You made a big contribution to this site, and hopefully more to come! You've definitely changed my experience on this site, that's for sure!

At the rate the number of spam bots are registering on this site it would seem a bit unfair/illegitimate to celebrate 100k members (when we reach it), no? I mean, apparently we got 81 bot sign ups (and an average of 38 users a day) today yet we struggle to even pull 100 active members all online at once. Sure it seems like the site is growing but when it's not contributing to posts or forum activity it just seems a bit unwarranted.

But I guess the committee have done this before when we reached 80k members and presumably the situation was the same so it probably doesn't really matter.

I'm pretty sure illegitimate signups have increased pretty dramatically since the 80k mark, was thinking about the same issue with the 100K milestone recently myself.
I wonder if these spammers might be worth an exception to the general rule on not deleting accounts or something? Otherwise, it would probably just be best to hold off until it's 100,000 non-banned members, if there's a counter for that.

I could be wrong, but while the spam bot ban function automatically deletes all posts and threads, the system still need its IP to ban it automatically, so in that sense, IF they should be completely deleted so that it won't count towards the total member count, it pretty much means inputting its IP manually into the IP ban list after each ban, before deleting the bot completely. It's something that our current spam bot plugin does not support.
