Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST

What did he say that offended you anyways?! I literally see nothing that could have.

Anyways, I hurt my thigh today sprinting. I thought I pulled something, but it defintely doesn't hurt near as bad as it did. We have a meet Tuesday so hopefully it feels better by then even though I'm nervous (like, really nervous actually haha).
It must be my current state of moderate depression, but I am still thinking of leaving.
Edit: No, I'm staying.

It wasn't a joke. It wasn't an insult. It wasn't anything.
He was just trying to change the subject, yeesh.

I think he takes it as an insult because "Diversion Complete" sounds like he's distracting him while the bomb is being armed or whatever, but that obviously wasn't what was happening.
Just drop it.

Had a great game tonight for basketball. Both my school teams won. I played the last 4 or so minutes in the fourth I think, was awesome. (Finally scored, yipeee!)
Why Dice? Why would you not fix a bug in your game that wipes out your progress? I just don't get it.
I have my first rugby scrimmage today, my coach has this weird idea that I'm a forward, which are basically the offensive/defensive line in football. Too bad I'm 150 pounds and since I'm 6' 3", I'm underweight. So yah, this should be interesting.
Dual

It's not a weird idea, but more of a challenge Wink

I'm more naturally a shooting guard, but my coach challenged me to play Small Forward and Point Guard as well, so I stepped to it. It'll be worth it, trust me. Bulk up a bit and go for it!

...

You're 6' 3"??

Maybe he just wants to freak the other team out. Stick a crazy tall guy on the front line. That'll kill their mojo. XD

Being intimidatingly tall has its definite advantages (plus, if you're playing with other kids your age, 150 pounds isn't all that light - I'm taller than most 10th graders (5' 11"), and I'm only 120).

Oh yah, you can yell really loud while you charge 'em too. Usually gets the job done (is there yelling and charging in rugby? I'm only familiar with football, haha).

Awesome! Good luck. Smile Hope you don't have to work Saturday afternoons, though. That would kinda stink. :\
Rugby is kinda like football except they don't wear comical amounts of body armor, so american football looks really soft to countries where Rugby is a thing.

EA Games: Challenge Everything.
Including your customers' expectations of decent post-release support.
@TheBlackDragon Maybe, haha. It went well though. I made a few tackles, got stepped on once, but it was a good time.
@th!nk yah, but everyone here thinks it's a lot more violent than it really is.
Sssssh, don't tell them that, there's no excuse for needing body armor.

Not even the whole ongoing issue w/ regards to brain damage from repeated concussions in contact sports that probably deserves more attention than it gets (though it seems like all the armor and helmets in American football is not doing much to help with that anyway).

SPORTS!
From what I know, the helmets actually are something of a detriment in some regards. Some players use the helmet as a weapon, a move that only recently became illegal. (Which is surprising, considering how old plastic helmets are.)

From my own experience, the helmets very wildly. The inexpensive ones that public leagues and urban high schools use are pretty bad. They hurt like hell, either have too much or not enough space between the face and the facemask, and the material is a brain injury waiting to happen. Not fun. The more expensive ones that run more than a few hundred dollars are VERY specifically built to prevent movement, while still being flexible.

The shoulderpads are simply not helpful, really. Rib pads, maybe. Flak jackets? (Used for rib protection) Somewhat effective. The shoulderpads, however, don't do much of anything but prevent minor injuries. I've seen some gruesome shoulder injuries from hits to that area, simply because the pads just don't cover much. Just chest and some of the shoulder. I have a set I keep for myself, and they're pretty bad. (A local public league was tossing out an old helmet and some shoulder pads. They let me have 'em for free. I had to repair a strap myself, but they were in pretty good condition.)

On the other hand, I had not seen many injuries to my school's (very bad) rugby team. It got discontinued after a year of being 0-5, but we had one. Nobody got more than a cut or two, honestly. Even the soccer team dealt with worse injuries. It's not as dangerous as a lot of my friends think.

It's as if EA doesn't even know how hated they are.
@TheBlackDragon: I don't think I would. It would depend. Id be a Youth Director for a local church.

True, haha,

Yah, I believe I read somewhere that football still has more concussions than rugby does, and all rugby has is the occasional scrum cap and maybe light padding. Come at us, football.

Aha, love that video XD I thought for a second it would go all Don't Hug Me I'm Scared on me.
Uhhg, I feel old guys. I received my Sophmore course request form today, which is the paper I fill out for my class choices for grade 10. This is possibly the hardest decision of my life thus far. I'm going for Core 40 w/ academic honors and I know it's best to take hard classes going for that but it's just hard. Here's what I have so far:

English 10 (required)
Algebra II
Biology II (I'm also considering ICP)
Spanish II
History of the 60's and 70's

I need two more. Here are some I'm considering:

Law Education
Computer Applications
Show Choir (lots of people want me to because they need more guys and I sing decently.)
2D Art
Principles of Engineering (required Intro to engineering which I took this year but I will probably save this class for my junior year.)

help
LAW EDUCATION!!

Oh gosh that would be so awesome...
Tri, it depends on what you're interested in, really.
Interested on, but also what you ultimately want to do in the future, in your career : what field of specialisation would look the best on your resume in your possible employer's eyes
From the list that you have to pick from...
Law and Choir for a more Law based future
Computer and 2D art for a more ICT/Graphic Design based future
2D art and Choir for a more musical/artistic future
Principals of Engineering and Computer for a more IT/Engineering future
Are what I would go for personally. It's really up to you Tri, hope you can make a good choice on those.

I would personally be stuck as well. Since I would want to take Computer, 2D Art, Show Choir and Principals of Engineering.

Biology 2? Shouldn't you take Chemistry? I mean, if you want another year of Bio, I'd take it as an AP.

My school doesn't offer Bio II as a dual credit/AP course. They're considering it next year though from what I heard.

I can't take Chemistry until my Junior year, then Chem II as an AP course my senior year. My school doesn't offer much and with so many teachers retiring this year, its gonna be worse next year.
You should see the situation in my school. They're following the IBDP, and they don't offer Physics HL... Nor Computer Science...

I mean, what am I supposed to do with my IT/Engineering goal now... Aie... Math HL, Physics SL, no Computer Science, wat. English A HL, Math HL and Psych HL, then Physics, Mandarin B and Music/Chemistry SL (as much as I hate Chem) for a IT and Electrical/Electronic/Physical/Acoustic Engineer life plan/major... It's like, WAT.

Hopefully you'll be able to sort it out, they don't really want to offer Physics HL or Comp Sci SL and probs can't down here (English A, Math and Physics HL, Computer Science, Mandarin B and Music SL would be perfect for meeeeee).

I wonder what my G11 and 12 years will be like... Aghhhhh....
