Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST

Yesterday the athletics class at school did the fitness gram test. The whole girls track, including me, did 80 curl ups. On the push-ups I was able to do 32. The trunk lifts, 7 inches. On that thing where you have to touch both hands together, I couldn't do both!XD
Today in the pacer test two of the top girl track runners and I did 75!Grin
Today in chemistry I made ice cream!!Joyful_3 it was so good!X9 and pretty easySmile
Today in chemistry we worked on equilibrium equations for a 35 point, four question quiz tomorrow.
All chemistry classes aren't born equal apparently.

Now all you need to do is make one-ingredient banana ice cream at home Smile

I have no idea what that is, but it sounds like it has some math in it!Smile which sounds funSmile
Not fun, definitely not fun.

It gets me mad because it's so boring. I honestly doubt I'll ever need to know which way an equation shifts when a certain chemical is added. Ugh.

hmm yeah maybe your right?XD right now im learning dilution calculations and molarity calculationsSmile
Chemistry is close to hell for me.

I'm asked to cover the entire syllabus in like, half the needed time for my IGCSE exams...

Teachers be like, "Let's hope we finish on time."
Luckily, I'm only in the sixth grade, aha.

Anyways, I was angry at myself for a while yesterday. I had a math quiz on Thursday, and was able to get my mark the day after. I ended up getting a B+, which isn't too bad, of course. There was just this one thing on the quiz, that my teacher pointed out for me, once I got it back. I lost three good marks, which would of lead me to an A. It was only worth three marks though.
Good luck on the next few years, you'll... have fun Tongue_out

Ahh... I remember we made a Tea for our Investigatory Project in Chemistry. It didn't even taste like tea... But it was totally worth it. We got chosen for the IP defense (Which was weird because there were more better products than ours...).
Sort of following on, but for all you guys in the US, by getting A's and studying really hard now are you aiming to get into Ivy League schools?

Also those that stress about school now, pfft. Wait till you get to university/college, heaps more work plus trying to find work in this economy isn't easy. Getting good marks does not guarantee you the job you want in the future, just saying ...
That's not really a super good reason not to work hard in school/college. Tongue_out

I really don't get the point of that last statement.
I was rereading some of my old posts...
Damn, I wouldn't blame you dudes for hating me XD

On the discussion of school grades and stuff:
We really just care because colleges usually look at your GPA and your SAT/ACT scores to see if they'll let you into their school. When you're accepted, and you pass in the college, you get a degree. A degree basically just means that you could get past that class and you passed. Usually schools are looking for the difficulty of the course as well has what grade you got. Rather get a 94 in a hard course than 100 in an easy course.

Surveys have shown an increase in yearly pay that corresponds to each level of degrees. Many jobs only accept/are more likely to select people with higher degrees as well.

On the other hand, it also depends on what job you're looking for, and that'll decide how much you value different degrees.

In other words, good grades = higher chance for a "good" college = get a degree = better job = better pay = more money to spend = you can buy stuff for family and friends = giving makes people happy = happy life

A degree does not guarantee a higher salary anymore : it was proven in a recent study.

Oops, forgot about that.

I would say it increases your probability. It really depends on what you're doing. Sometimes it isn't worth it.

But I mean, rather have high scores on your record than low/average scores. Tongue_out
So I've recently concluded that I've slacked off my entire Freshman year. I was so used to soaring through with no problems in grade and junior high school. My first semester I had all A's and now on the last semester I have only 4 A's in easy classes, 2 B's, and a C+ in Spanish. That's what I'm mad about the most. Why a 3 year foreign language class in required for academic honors is dumb.

Hopefully I raise my grades in the 3-4 weeks left of school. I'm hoping finals help me.
On a completely different note, Happy Star Wars Day, everyone! Grin
May the fourth be with you all.
Actually, yes, I can testify that it can be important to have good marks at every level of school, at least here : in primary school, actually what you do during the years is not that important but if you commit to learning well, you will probably have a better chance at success in reputed high schools' application tests. In high school, here we have the physics-chemistry option in the last year where not everyone who applies gets accepted, plus your overall performance throughout all of high school does determine what your scores that will get shown to colleges will be. In college, obviously everything you do is important for your global score because that is what universities will look at for the most. Then, in university, it really depends what you want to see yourself doing in the future : if you think you will be fine with one bachelor's degree and have no chance at all of doing another one or changing your course of action mid-degree, then fine, just pass : there is no different specification on your diploma if you had top grades or passing marks. However, if you think you are not certain about your first choice of program and that you might change or do a second bachelor's degree afterwards, you should definitely try to earn high grades in your current program because that will make it a lot easier to get accepted in your other program even if you definitely did not have the scores required for it in college. It could even apply for the medecine program.

Don't get me started on that, man. First Disney buys Star Wars, then they cancel Clone Wars during the final season, now this.

Why not just add Yoda to Disney Infinity and call it a day.

Sad Ten is sad Unhappy

As for the extended universe bit, they should have picked and chose what to keep and get rid of. There's some great stuff in there...and some REALLY bad stuff.
I can't explain my excitement.

This better not turn out like the first MMPR Movie (Ivan Ooze... ugh).
OMG, my friends and I were talking about the new TMNT and Transformers movies that are coming out soon at lunch today, and I suggested the very idea of a new PR movie with better actors and special effects, slight retcons, and Megazords with Transformer-like mechanics. Gasp

So thanks, Leone19, you've officially made my day (at 10pm).

EDIT: Wow, there's a lot of "OMG" in that new Pokémon game's thread, lol...
