Tourney is currently full, barring cancellations.
You may register for a reserves list, and if you would be able to make it on short notice, (like, if I called you at 12:15 to get there by 1), then you may register for that as well (give me a contact number, preferably mobile, and a name). You'll be given major consideration for the second tourney, and if there are a lot of you, I'll host a second tourney in the near future, the soonest it works for everyone. I apologise for not warning you sooner.
If there are another 12 people though, I'll look into doing blocks, but I sincerely doubt that (and it would be hard to manage)
The reason for the limit is out of interest for attendees. We want you to have the maximum number of battles possible for the first tourney, for everyone's sake. The only format that will give us this is normal Round Robin, which is capped at 12 participants (as otherwise, it is too much work for the committee). Please be understanding, that I'm doing this for the good of our tournament scene, and will work to make up for anyone who misses out
What: An
Official Tourney, for Perth Bladers!
When: Sunday, 3rd of July (2011). 12 Noon. Tourney Starts at 1PM, Free Play for the Hour Before. Make sure you arrive at 12, please.
Any later than 12:15, and your position is forfeit. If it's 12 and you're not there yet,
text me.
Full details are here. My number will be provided in the reminder PM.
Where: Kings Park, Variety Pavillion, or surrounding area.
Here's A Map of Kings Park's Venues It's #33, off Saw Avenue.
ENTRY FEE: 5USD (~$4.70 AU). Free for passport holders. Passports will be $10 USD. (They’re not actual physical objects but you can register for one at the event, and you'll receive a Passport Face once the WBO issues it to you). This is all WBO rules.
Prizes: First Prize: $25 Worth of Beyblade Stuff (Prize-Winners Choice)
Second Prize: $15 Worth of Beyblade Stuff (Prize-Winners Choice).
I’d suggest getting this from Dimsum2u, as he’s the cheapest for most things, but any reliable seller, on the WBO or eBay is fine. Basically, you tell me what you want, and I’ll order it and have it shipped to you. This means that people who normally can’t buy stuff online, if they win the tourney, will be able to get whatever they want, and it lets the winners choose their own prizes.
I know, it’s not a huge prize, but we’re only a small tourney, and given the expected attendance, it’s actually pretty good.
Whatever the WBO’s funding doesn’t cover prizewise, I’ll cover myself.
Rules: Standard WBO Rules.
Here. READ THEM. Plus the 3.6 Update:
READ IT TOO!
An extra thing, though it isn't a rule, I'd prefer if, out of respect to stadium owners and the tourney holder (me), people refrained from using MS/M145 unless absolutely necessary. It's
not against the rules, but in my opinion there is a risk of damage to stadiums due to improper use, and if there is any ill feeling after the event, I won't be inclined to host again.
I'd rather people didn't use the Rev-Up launcher, as it's not totally fair IMO, but that's a personal opinion, and I'm not going/able to stop you. It'll be cool if we kept it to beylaunchers, though, at least for our first tournament
Format: Round Robin. All players battle each other once, and then the three players with the most wins play round robin against each other, number of wins decides placing. Tie Breakers, again, where necessary. This limits us to 12 places, however.
Please read the the Official Event Guide if you're interested in how things will be/should be run.
[b]Only say you can "definitely attend" if you are 100% sure you can make it (check with parents/guardians before posting, PLEASE).
If we end up with only 7 people there on the day because you don't attend, I will hunt you down and launch horrible combo's at you until you are mortally wounded/I get bored. (Storm Cancer 145S: Expect It, All Over Your Face)
I’d love it if everyone could make it (and let’s be honest, we’re in Perth, it’s not like there’s anything else to do), but that probably won't happen. However, if it goes well, I'll look at hosting another, and work it out schedule-wise with the people who couldn't make it to this one. Because I'm a pretty cool guy like that.
So yeah, let's do this thang.

Cheating/Whatever:
If anyone is cheating, obviously it counts as a loss/whatever, or DQ depending on seriousness.
If anyone wants to accuse someone of cheating though, I suggest you have solid evidence.
If anyone wants to accuse a judge/me of cheating/bias, I again suggest you have extremely solid evidence, considering I’ve already stated that as tourney holder, I’m not eligible for prizes, and frankly, if you think I care about children’s spinning tops/winning at children's spinning tops enough to cheat at a tourney, you’re mad.
Theft:
Theft/stealing/other stupid stuff, if it happens (it has at other tourneys), it will be taken very seriously, and may jeopardise any possible future events or whatever. It's only a small event, so someone will probably spot you.
If you're gonna be enough of a scumbag to steal stuff, I'm gonna be enough of a mean SoB to make sure you don't do it again.
Me:
I'll be the wiry Ginger, probably in a long-ish black coat. I’ll have a name tag, and I’ll probably post a picture of me before the event so you all know who to look for.
As for combo advice before the tourney, I mightn't be up for it, as I'd rather see what everyone brings to the table, and don't want to risk being blamed for giving bad advice or whatever. That said, if you’re really desperate, I’m a nice guy, so I might. Best thing would be to ask in “Build Me A Combo†though, and take a look around the customisation forum before the event (Blader Secret: that's what I do
)
Also, I need time to practice beforehand, as it'll be my first tourney and my first 1v1 experience since primary school/plastics, and I want to get used to it/try a few things out first.
If I'm not tired afterwards, I might continue with some free-play, and might even ask if someone can help test something, if there's something I need 2 people to test at the time. I’ll also be around for chat/advice/whatever.
Contact, Parents, Etc:
I can be contacted by PM, and as long as I get reception at Kings Park (IIRC I do), I'll be notified by email when you do, so yeah.
Parents are welcome to attend. I'm 19 and responsible, if yours ask, but I can't guarantee whichever parent drops me off will be around for the tourney, so yeah. If your parents
need to contact me or whatever, PM me, and I'll give them my number. I sound groggy on the phone, though, and I’m a bit ill right now, so doing it through PM’s/SMS is probably better
Health/Safety:
I won't guarantee you won't get injured by yourself, and I'm not trained in first aid (I've got a vague idea of what to do in some cases, but yeah). If you've got allergies/some kind of ailment that you need someone to take care of, bring a parent/guardian, please. I’m generally good in emergencies, but I’d rather not have any drama.
Other stuff:
No fighting, these are only children’s spinning tops. Any drama will be dealt with with extreme disdain/derision, because, seriously, get over it; it’s a children’s spinning top game.
Seeing as I'm sure a lot of you will be confused about how it works, here's a simple explanation of round robin.
The simplest way to describe it, is everyone plays every other player there. The 3 people with the highest number of wins then play round robin against each other, the one with the most wins against the other two is the winner of the tourney.
Tie Breakers will be conducted where necessary.
Each battle consists of 5 rounds. Read the rules for how it all works, as it's all in there
