Papabey’s Winter Solstice Classic

*** IMPORTANT UPDATE ***

Start time change :
Registration : 10:30AM–11:00AM

There were some unforeseen issues with the venue rental that are forcing us to finish the tournament absolutely by 3:15PM. Sorry for the last minute notice, but at least these kinks for renting out these venues (in my school board)  will be ironed out for next time.

Hello all Toronto area bladers. You might have seen me with my son WonderMax at multiple tournaments in the past year. Well, I have passed the Organizer’s tests and have used my influence to get access to venues with my employer. Winter BeyBlading, and keeping warm! Woohoo!

PARTICIPANT CAP: 50 PLAYERS

Participant Cap: 50 players. Might cap lower depending on judge availability.

Hitting the “Join Tournament” button above to express your interest in attending this event is a great help to us as we plan for this event.

While everyone will be welcome to spectate and participate in free play, there will be a participant cap of 63 Players on this tournament due to limited time.

NEED-TO-KNOW INFORMATION

Entrance fee of 5$ per blader, to help offset the venue rental costs.
No eating in the gym

We will be bringing stadiums for this event, but more are always welcome! Any BeyStadium is fine for free play, but BeyStadium Standard Types (pictured below) are particularly appreciated. If you can bring one, please post here to let us know.

Open your account page on your mobile device (if possible) during registration to help us keep things quick.

If you mean by using them in free play, yes. But we will use Takara Tomy Standard Type Beystadiums because they are the best fit for a tournament saniro.

It looks like U wot m8 is coming to this tournament. Hope to see whatan og blader battles like!
Heads up to everybody - cap has been lowered to 50 people. We have a great community of Bladers who will help make this event a good experience, but since it's the first event that I'm hosting, I want to make sure we're not overwhelmed. I would hate to make an event that would turn people off from participating in the future.
What’s the minimum age to attend?

It's your first event, I'm not sure why they aren't capping you at 24 to begin with. Sure, you might have prior experience, but still, the rules. Well, good luck Papabey!

EDIT:
"Participant Cap for First-Time Organizers
If you are proposing your first event as a WBO Organizer without any other experienced WBO Organizers assisting you, we require a mandatory participant cap of 24."

I guess you have enough other experienced organizers helping you! Still, so did I, and I went with a 24 cap anyway, for the sake of my own sanity. Smile

Yeah, I will be there so I would consider him exempt from that rule for this event. He's also helped with several previous events.

We also needed it to be this many players (actually more) in order to pay for the venue costs, so that was a factor as well.
i am not going to the tournament because i am going to the us this week

Well it looks like we'll be paying for the venue xD. Looks like around $230 at least We'll get just from people partipating.
Also those who can not go the tournament please unjoin. If you can not unjoin due to the participant cap please post below here that you are not going and you can't unjoin. As you can see above this post aryan sawhney did just that (thank you aryan) Grin

Sorry, second event. First one was https://worldbeyblade.org/Thread-BATTLE-...pid1531766 which I organized but OldSchool hosted. There were difficulties with me getting approved as an organizer because I hadn't attained the 50 post threshold, so Oldschool took a large part of the organization from me.

I'm looking forward to hopefully getting my feet wet in running the Challonge brackets, posting the winning combos, after tournament report and all. The Toronto community has been great in getting me gradually up to par as an organizer - I'm a dad with 2 kids who love Beyblade (of which I discovered it's existence over a year ago) so I'm not as knowledgeable as most people in the community or on these forums. The help from the community is amazing =)

A+

My first tournament, I'm so excited, I can't wait!
Oh man,... just missed the cut,...
My son is dying to participate,... if a spot opens up, please let me know.
ATTENTION ALL PARTICIPANTS
Effective immediately, knockouts in the final stage Deck Format of Burst Format tournaments (meaning, this tournament included) will be worth 1 point just like the first stage. Previously, they were worth 2.

We will review this rule change and all other rules before the tournament as well.

A more formal announcement will be posted in the News forum later on.

We can’t guarantee a spot, but there’s a very good chance your son could participate if you show up early and get on the wait list. It’s typical for a handful of people on the confirmed list to not show up on the day of the the event.

Around 25-33% of registrants tend not to show up in my experience. CDawg 's son can very likely just show up and get in.

I agree with this ruling change! The devastating power attack has now can completely end game someone. Even now getting that self KO won't be as much of a hit now that you're only sacrificing 1 point.
We have a new blader who would like to come along. Can someone dm if they think they won’t be going. It’s a bit of a trip for them

I'd say to bring your friend. It is most likely not everyone will come so make sure to be early on the wait list so you can get the spot. No promises though.

Sweet! So now it's just

Burst - 2 Points
KO - 1 Point
Survivor Finish - 1 Point

Indeed. I prefer this much more than the removal of the back wall rule. It makes fair KO's count but less of a slap to the face when you self KO
