WBO Graphics Tournament 3
Yep, it's that time again! I proudly present to you (with permission from Kai-V) the 3rd WBO Graphics Tournament! As many of us know, the first one went great, but sadly the second tournament did not go so well. Surely, we cannot let GFX tournaments end on such a note!
This tournament is for those a little bit newer, and of course veterans, to the GFX scene! Use this tournament to develop your skills with whatever editor you use! If all goes well, the tournament should last anywhere from one month to two! Please be aware and to plan ahead to accommodate this time period! Each round should last around one week!
Participants will be given one week to complete their entries. The first round will begin November 28th, and entries should begun to be created a week before the start (the 21st). Sign ups will end on the 20th! When the sign ups are finished, I will divide the participants into equal (or as close to equal as possible) groups, the number of groups will vary as the number of participants grow larger.
Themes will be accepted if you have suggestions (i.e. Star Wars, Beyblade, etc.)
The Rules:
Tournament Set Up:
-The tournament is a block round robin format.
-The leader board for each group will be determined by whoever has the highest voting percentage, not highest amount of votes.
-For example, if participant one gets 8 out of 10 votes in round one (80%) and 4 out of 10 in round two (40%), the average of these two percentages combined would be his total vote percentage for the tournament up to that point.
-If there is a tie between two (or more) competitors at the end of the tournament, there will be one GFX Battle where the winner will be advanced to the finals.
-The finals will be a single battle, with the leader of each group competing against each other. The winner of that battle will be crowned champion of the Third WBO Graphics Tournament. If the amount of groups can be determined into an even number (i.e. 4 groups), then there will be a semi-final round before the final round.
-For example, the leaders in Group A and Group B would face-off, and the leaders of Group C and Group D would face-off, with the winners of those battles advancing into the final round.
General Rules:
-Battles that are not ties (or finals) will consist of 2 competitors.
-Each round will last one week.
-While each round is commencing, the participants are to create their sig for the next round (themes will be announced prior to the start of the first battle in each round)
-Themes will be selected at random, and sometimes on the spot.
-NEW! Sig size limit restrictions. Max is 500x200, must be appropriate size for a sig
-Participants with the highest voting percentage as the finals are to begin will decide the theme for the final battle
-When a thread is created in order to nullify the effects of group conformity and bias the voting will be blind without any specific mention of the creator of each sig. Each sig will be presented as 'Member A or 1', 'Entrant A or 1', 'Signature A or 1'. This will help ensure an even playing field for each participant as a person’s profile won't influence voting.
-When a thread is created there will be no polling option for voting. Polls can be easily manipulated to assist a competitor. This can include the use of fake accounts or simply voting for yourself using your own account. Only votes which are posted and specifically mention which competitor they'll choose to vote for will be included towards a person’s tally. ie, "I vote for Member A, since their design catches the eye better".
Messages to participants who send late entries
- For every day an entry is past the deadline a 2 vote penalty will apply.
- If an entry is 4 or more days late, the person with the late entry will forfeit the Round.
- If a person DOES NOT want to incur a 2 vote penalty for a late submission, the participant with the late entry will need to contact ME and ask for an extension.
- The length and whether or not an extension is granted varies on each individual situation. If an extension is granted after a vote penalty has occurred, the voting penalty will be upheld.
- The vote penalty will occur for the persons next battle.
Please remember:
- Unlike a normal graphic battle where anybody may create a battle thread, the tournament threads will only be created by myself.
-I, myself, will not be participating in this tournament.
