High Park - Toronto, Ontario, Canada
BURST FORMAT

From seemingly out of nowhere, the third generation of Beyblade has burst onto the scene!. Toronto Bladers, this is your chance to get a first hand opportunity to try out the new Beyblades from this exciting, explosive new series, receive one for yourself to take home, and trade parts with other players to build the best Beyblade you can!

Location:
We'll be playing in the shelter where we usually play. If you're coming to High Park via the Bloor entrance, just follow that road down on the right side and you'll see the large building/shelter on the left hand side before you reach the tennis courts. If you have any questions about the location, please post here! This map has the area we'll be playing in roughly outlined:

First 7 Participants get a brand new Beyblade to use and take home!
And listen, we're not asking for those products back at the end, no way! Those are really gifts for the community! The first 7 Bladers to arrive at the tournament will randomly pick one Layer, one Disk, and one Driver from the Beyblade Burst items shipped to the host, and leave with it at the end!!

What happens if there are more than seven players, do you ask? Quite simply, these first seven, lucky Bladers will be asked to share with the players who came in later to the event when they are not playing in an official battle with it already. Their Beyblade will be returned at the end, because the host will have written down who got what.

Mandatory $6 CDN Entry Fee = More Beyblade Burst Events + Extra Credits!
To help subsidize the high cost of importing some of the new Beyblade Burst items from Japan, a mandatory $6 CDN entry fee will be imposed on all Beyblade Bursts Onto The Scene events, regardless of whether or not a participant has a Blader Passport (if you wish to purchase a Blader Passport for $12 CDN, the total cost would be $18 CDN at a Beyblade Bursts Onto The Scene event), and there will be no prize reimbursement. We hope that everyone can understand this! The more funds we have, the more we can afford to do for the community in the future! We're actually going to be losing money despite this entry fee, and for those that receive a Beyblade, it will be much cheaper to get one that way than it would be to import one yourself (although we certainly hope you all do this after playing with them!). However, to show our appreciation for your cooperation and support in helping to fund the event, all participants in Beyblade Bursts Onto the Scene tournaments will receive the following:
  • +1 Extra Credit to be used for prizes from our awesome Blader Rewards, on top of whatever they would have normally earned.
  • New Passport Holders will earn +2 Extra Credits, rather than +1.

"But what about my BeyPoints? I've never played Beyblade Burst!"
No problem! The first Beyblade Event in every region will not count towards the BeyPoint System. Think of it as an opportunity to experiment and just focus on having fun with the new series.

Of course however, there will also be Faces and Credits to play for. Wink

What is Beyblade Burst?
Beyblade Burst is the brand new, third generation of Beyblade by TAKARA-TOMY! It is set to launch in July 2015 in Japan. If you are not familiar with Beyblade Burst, please take a look at the Beywiki article covering it: http://wiki.worldbeyblade.org/index.php?...lade_Burst

And be sure to check the Beyblade Burst - Bey News Forum Thread for the latest news on the series as it is announced.

Oh yeah, and ManicBen is seriously one cool guy.

Bey Brad came with 2 girls, and left with 3, what a legend.

Yeah, what a lad. Proud to know the guy Grin

Kinda miffed I don't have my Spread anymore, but I can get it in the future Valkyrie booster. Why? I should have checked beforehand, now I'm stuck with an extra Wing...

The best thing about this is LMAO hiding in the back hahaha. For those interested, here is a slightly higher-res copy of the photo.

Hey everyone! In my opinion, today's event was one of the best we've ever hosted. The excitement of the new series, the lack of pressure having to worry so much about BeyPoints for once (that's not to say it wasn't competitive; it certainly was. Just in a slightly different way), the return of past players like Beyonomics (it was great to see you after so many years!), and the appearances by both Manicben (all the way from London, UK!), Bey Brad (and his friends!) all combined to culminate in a very memorable event. Thank you all so much for coming and being part of the first Beyblade Burst tournament outside of Japan! I'm reminded every time we have a tournament, but I was reminded especially on a day like today how thankful I am to have met you all and to be able to have fun together through our love for Beyblade!

I'll be posting most of these on our Facebook shortly, but here's the rest of the photos I took at the event. Stay tuned for a BeyChannel video very soon!:

(Aug. 03, 2015  12:44 AM)Mitsu Wrote: Kerbeus Heavy/Central Defense/Survive was used a ton day. I'd say in my block, at least, it was 80% Kerbeus, 10% Spriggan attack and another ten Valkyrie attack. Personally, even though Kerbeus was used a lot, I don't find it to be an amazing option for defense. It won quite a bit, though all it's matches as far as I can remember were very close. What was interesting, though, was Kei's use of Kerbeus Heavy Accel. It was very cool to see in action. It has aggression and at the same time, some defense.

I agree that Kerbeus isn't an amazing option for Defense. It was used so much simply because it's an easy to use Stamina/Defense combo. Attack certainly stands a good to great chance of beating it depending on the skill of the user (with 1234beyblade being on the superhuman level of skill with Burst Attack types so far hahaha), and maybe a little luck.

As for Kerbeus Heavy Accel ... it's a very specialized combo in that I believe it can only win against Attack. But I was happy to catch a few people off-guard and get a few wins with it today haha.

It was also great to see bey Brad come to play in toronto (thanks for signing my beylogger). I had a lot of fun trying the bursts for the 1st time. It was great to see and meet Manicben for the very 1st time and he was really cool to hangout with. When I played kei and won the game, I was exctatic to hear that I got 1st place with a finals record of 5-0 however my overall record of the day wad 12-2 eventhough I stuck with 2 combos for most of the event. Thanks for making this tournament happen kei and I can't wait for the next burst event cause I will be there for that.

Really glad to see you did so well today, Blasterjoker1! It's always nice seeing somebody new take first place at an event. Smile Also, it looks like you were 10-2 instead of 12-2 (5-2 in block play, 5-0 in finals).

Manicben Wrote:3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF! Indeed, today was an amazing day with some great experiences.
I could write an essay about what transpired today, but I'll keep it short.
High Park is great. Easy to navigate and the black squirrels were friendly as I arrived too early. Luckily Wally.web joined me and instantly became friends, since we had a lot in common. Then more people joined us, leading to myself buying a B-08 set and a grip and selling the stadium to Wally.web. Quickly making friends with other people, the time to the start grew shorter, and some people arrived late. Great to meet Kei and Beyonomics, top lads as we say in England, although everyone were top lads with great banter (He wasn't ready!).

Then it happened. Some random guy with two girls (lovely people btw) came closer to us, and while I was thinking "who is that guy?" someone shouted BEY BRAD!!! I can only say I went into shock. Its not everyday you get to meet the founder of the WBO, the eternal president himself. After mustering up the courage to shake his hand and talk to him, I did exactly that and after mentioning I was from London, he immediately knew who I was! Not gonna lie, I was moved and after talking a lot during the tournament, I quickly discovered he is a awesome guy and frikin cool (evidently popular with the ladies Grin ). Ha, basically all Canadians are kind and helpful from my experience so far.

Congrats to the winners! I hope everyone enjoyed the little "thing" I made and I hope that you will all be the envy of the entire WBO! Feel free to brag, since its a Bursts onto the Scene exclusive!

To everyone who went to McDonald's, I had a great time and cheers JessObre for introducing me to that wonderful burger concoction, whose name should not be mentioned here Grin I hope you guys can make it to London someday, where you will be welcomed with open arms, as you all did to me here.

I'm off to Vancouver tomorrow early morning, but you guys really made my time in Toronto an experience of a lifetime, and I hope to see you all sometime in the future. Maybe I shall make a grand/epic return someday? Grin

It was really great meeting you today, Manicben! I'm glad you seem to have had such a great impression of both Toronto and the Toronto WBO community. It certainly was our pleasure to have you participate today. And thank you so much for those WBO BeyLogger sheets! I think everyone loved them.

Just so you know everyone, Manicben told me before we parted ways at the subway that he would "hook everyone up" if we went to London! 1234beyblade was there, he can verify. Wink

Hope you have a good time in Vancouver!

1234beyblade Wrote:7. The string on my launcher burnt out a nice little line on my beylauncher (not sure when this happened haha)

This is so crazy. You have to post the picture we took.

1234beyblade Wrote:Everyone used spriggan, kerbeous, valkyrie, and this one guy who used Ragnaruk and kept saying "you're going to get RAGNARUKED"

i'm so sad i didn't get this on video when he said that and immediately afterwards won the round against brad

And @[Bey Brad], I know we spoke a bit at Anime North, but it was great to see you again as well! The community isn't the same without you, so it's cool to see you back lately! And I'm glad I got to redeem myself for my loss against you six years ago hahaha.

LMAO Wrote:Bey Brad came with 2 girls, and left with 3, what a legend.

HAHAHAHAHA
Awesome. Looked like a really fun time. So jealous. I need to move to Canada. Lol. Dumb Mainers and their lack of beyblade appreciation....
alright so here is a comparison of my launcher (on the left) and Kei's launcher (on the right) haha.

Forgot to mention D:

R.I.P. Valkyrie July 2015 - August 2015 DJ - Sad.
Now I see how you post so high on the cloud for rip speed. You have superhuman crazy crackhead fast rips. Lol

Man that suck. I hope the launcher will still be legal. Valkyrie Will forever be missed.
I don't see why not. It's normal wear and tear and doesn't look like it will effect it's performance
I was actually really looking forward to seeing the results of this. Congrats to Blasterjoker1 for winning the first WBO Burst Tournament! I kinda wanted Manicben to win/place but oh well. Also it was awesome that Brad showed up, did he play in the tournament or just hang out/play a few exhibition matches with you guys?

Alright, now for the boring technical interrogation part, mostly aimed at Kei but anyone can answer: Will Winning Combos be posted? If not, how often was Kerbeus Heavy Defense used? Mitsu said that it was about 80% in his Block but overall? Besides 1234beyblade's Attack combos could Kerbeus Heavy Fusion/Survive beat it consistently? This tournament won't count for points (yet), but when will they start counting/when will Burst tournaments take over MFB as "the norm?" Also, in one of the pictures LMAO is using a MFB Launcher suspension (or idk what it's called) on his Burst String Launcher, would that be allowed (I'm guessing it would be a similar ruling to using a Dragon Winder in a MFB Light Launcher)?

(Aug. 03, 2015  2:23 AM)1234beyblade Wrote: Everyone used spriggan, kerbeous, valkyrie, and this one guy who used Ragnaruk and kept saying "you're going to get RAGNARUKED" XD (not sure if that is exactly what he said)

I hope Ragnaruk starts seeing more use once Oval is released. The Whale Attacker Ragnaruk is still my favorite Burst Beyblade and it would be a shame if it turned out to be useless even as it was released.

What happened? did the teeth break or something? If it broke after only a month of (albeit heavy) use the implications for that aren't good. Did any other parts break at the tournament?

My Valkyrie fell in a crack on the floor haha. DJ - Sad.
Hi everyone, I'm one of Brad's friends. It was really nice to meet all of you, I had such a good time! It was my first time ever playing Beyblade and I learned so much - it's a lot more skilled than I had imagined, I have a lot to learn! Looking forward to coming to more events in the future. I'm gonna practice a lot before next time, be ready. Gotta buy me some Beyblades, awyeahhhh.
Thanks @[Wombat] for the support! I failed you and my country. Her majesty will not be impressed...

In other news, I now see my flight is at 8am... And my habit is to arrive 2 hours early. And the subway doesn't even open till 6am... So, its the 300 bus and UP to the airport at 5:10am. Meaning wake up at 3:40 just to be safe. Oh god, my sleeping patterns since arriving in Toronto have been so messed up... #soworth

And @[1234beyblade] just noticed you beat Kei and now are world number 3rd! Dunno when, but congrats!

Wow! WOW!!

What an amazing event. I'm glad that you all seem to think so, too! I'm also happy I listened to Scott's advice and didn't tell you all I'd be attending. I wasn't sure how you'd all react, but I was completely floored by the warm greeting. You all really moved me today, and reminded me why this game and this community are so incredible.

Also glad you appreciated the presence of my friends Lani and Cadney — they played Beyblade for the first time and loved it enough to come along and compete today, and I think you guys really cemented just how great a social experience playing Beyblade is. You guys were as great to them as you were to me, and I really appreciate it. I hope that they'll become a fixture in future events — and that it might some gender diversity to the competitive scene, which once had many active female players!

I was actually feeling cautiously optimistic about my prospects today, but I actually performed really badly Unhappy I don't mind losing so much, but I want to earn the respect of the community. So I'll work hard to keep improving! Though some of you are at a level that seems completely unreachable, including everyone in the top 3 ...

I hope this will encourage more unranked events, too. The competition still felt tense, but in a way that encouraged people to experiment with more ambitious strategies.

I'll leave it to the rest of you to opine on the competitive implications, but I'll say that things didn't play out as cleanly cut as test results would make it appear. I think it's really impossible to recreate the unique context of a tournament in a consequence-free testing setting.

See you guys again soon!

You were awesome! Her majesty will surely be pleased with your valour. Big thank you for making it out today.
Wombat, I was basically the main judge in my block, and wow, I'd say we had like 80% Kerbeus, 15% Spriggan, and 5% Valkyrie, there was also someone who used Ragnaruk, but it wasn't so good.
(Aug. 03, 2015  3:57 AM)Manicben Wrote: And 1234beyblade just noticed you beat Kei and now are world number 3rd! Dunno when, but congrats!

Haha, thanks! Hopefully i can stay in the top 5 for a while (at least that is my goal).

For a first timer you sure were good! I hope to see you and Cadney attend more of these tournaments! So happy to see the community grow DJ - Yeah!

Your friends were totally awesome, and really good for first timers! Like i said at the tournament, you sure trained them well haha! They seemed very happy and into beyblade, which is awesome!

That is pretty harsh haha... I am glad that you think it was worth playing with our small Toronto community, I think i can speak for everyone here, we really enjoyed having you at the tournament! (oh and about London tournaments... i actually plan on visiting London during my University years, so hopefully i can attend one in the near future!)
Glad to see everyone had a fun time in High Park, MapleSyrupLand.
This makes me really, really want to help organizing tournaments (hopefully Burst) in Tennesee.
Erm, as @[Kei] said, I can hook Toronto peeps up if they visit London. Just not all at the same time! Grin
So if anyone happens to be in London, either visiting, university exchange, or even attending a London event (like I did), I should be able to help find a place to stay or even offer a space in my/our flat in central London. I'm sure my mates won't mind. Hopefully I can get London back on its feet and bring even more people into the hobby, since 7 is a pitiful number. We will welcome any member of the WBO in London, just let me know! Grin

Ok time to sleep for a couple of hours... Will edit unboxing videos on the plane... Check out my channel...

Manicben out... zzzz
This looks like it was a lot of fun. Made me miss Toronto big time
Just saying I am now on the UP express to the airport. Funny thing was, I almost overslept, but I got the 300 bus on time. On the bus, I asked two people if they knew which bus stop was nearest the Bloor UP station. None of them knew it even existed... Thankfully I checked my Google maps (only loaded a bit of Toronto cos no WiFi on bus) and saw where the station was. Got on it ok Grin

Hope the next few tournaments go ok, JesseObre's Birthday thing right?
And hopefully Burst again in September after the release of the next wave.

We were kind of just playing with the Bursts when Scott was like ''Oh hey, it's Bey Brad'' all casually, haha.

But it was really good meeting you man (sucks I didn't at AN tho). You too, Lani and Stephanie! Smile

Manicben Wrote:Hope the next few tournaments go ok, JesseObre's Birthday thing right?

Yup, Jesse's Surprise Birthday Bash (Limited) and After the Bash (HMS) will be held on Sunday, August 16th at Dufferin Grove Park, hosted by @[1234beyblade] and myself. Hopefully Kei can approve it and get up the thread up sometime later this week.
HAHA, it was Scott! That's perfect.
It was pretty cool trying out burst yesterday! and seeing bey brad!

Can't wait till next ternament!Wink
@[Bey Brad] you look like the bey pimp in those pics. Very cool. We need more girls in beyblade. I am slowly getting my gf more and more into it. She has her own burst account
Hey guys, I'm Brad's friend (the one who came late). Even though I didn't get to participate in the tournament, I had a really great time and will definitely be checking out future events. I was so pleased with how friendly and welcoming the community was. I'm already planning out a group order with the other girls!
