Before you freak out and flame me for this:
So I have decided to take up the quest of testing this layer. Yes, it has atrocious teeth, yes it is considered outclassed with no hope. But strangely enough, after toying with the stock bey this Christmas of 2017, it could withstand my lS. 7M. X, sX. 1M. Ds, and even bursted them sometimes.
Even more shockingly, it rarely went beyond two clicks, sometimes not clicking at all...as a stock combo...probably the driver, but we won't know until we test it...
Due to the seeming lack of a testing thread, I have decided to test this out...don't flame me for this...
More of a time killer than anything, this testing is...
Equipment:
- B-33 Standard Type Beystadium
- Beylauncher (with Beylogger as grip)
- Beylauncher L (for easy weak-launches for aB)
Note: As for why I am not using Beylauncher LR, I sadly have inconsistent launches due to the smoothness of that launcher handle.
Tested Combo: Ark Bahamut 2B. At (always launched first, weak launched)
Point Counter: 1 point for burst, survivor, and over finishes.
Beginning with some attack type combos, I chose my trusty partner Legend Spriggan 7M Xtreme...
aB. 2B. At: 5/10
lS. 7M. X (right spin): 5/10
Win rate of aB: 50%
Ark Bahamut as a stock combination often outspun Legend Spriggan, and even clicked it without suffering many clicks. And the one occasion on which it lost 2 clicks, it pushed lS onto its last tooth. It even bursted lS once, whereas the latter bey (lS) either had to KO aB for wins, or force it to stop spinning (once). Therefore, most of the burst resistance so far seems to be coming from the driver and the shield-like layer. Legend Spriggan performed well, but was hard pressed for wins.
sX. 1M. X: 3/10
aB. 2B. At: 7/10

Ark Bahamut was much closer to bursting sometimes, and almost got knocked out once, but bounced back in due to the curve, not the back of the pocket (which would have resulted in KO). It actually bursted the sX combo once as well. It almost got two bursts, but sX had KOed it (by WBO pocket rules) by then.

aB. 2B. At: 7/10

Interestingly, sX got more KOs at the end, but only when it was too late...

Ark Bahamut had plenty of spins after sX stopped (bounced back in off back of pocket but was KOed, ha). Sieg Xcalibur even bursted against aB once. With strong launches, sX can (to a degree) compensate for Iron's quick loss of speed with more chances to KO aB.. But my back began to hurt with too many consecutive hard launched sX...
sX. 7M. At: 2/10
aB. 2B. At: 8/10
Win rate: 80%
sX actually got self KOed once, and also bursted once. Whatever speed it was launched at, it either got OSed (majority) or even KOed or bursted (minority). It just couldn't compete in stamina, and the low recoil of aB furthered this gap in stamina and possible spin equalization that sX could have pulled off. In other words, stationary sX got canceled against stock aB.

Ark Bahamut seemed decent for spin equalization, although not anywhere near Drain Fafnir (obviously). Deep Chaos did seem to click somewhat consistently. It seems that if dC can destabilize aB/avoid contact for some time, it had a better chance of outspinning aB, which is hard due to the latter's LAD from Atomic.

So far, dC's destabilization properties plus Atomic seem to be more effective...however, there were still several close matches, dC having at least half of a rotation more than aB...very close...it also clicked far more than expected, ranging from 1 to 2 most of the time, though 3 was seen sometimes...
If you launch dC at an angle and drive its side under aB, you can destabilize it to an extent, though aB can equalize back to normal...

aB only won twice due to slightly harder launches than intended. Overall, Bearing on dC against aB seemed a bit closer than with Atomic, but overall, it still does its job well and exceeds expectations. aB got wrecked by dC.
Now, moving on to requested combos (custom aB vs custom combos):

nL kept on forcing aB to stop spinning. Disgusting. The draw was extremely close, where nL bursted but aB got KOed. It was too close to call...almost...
Another win that aB got for a BF was similar to the tie...
Hard launched both beys:
aB: 9/10
nL: 1/10
Win rate: 90%
Surprisingly, aB performed better than expected when hard launched. That may be due to nL being hard launched as well, but I was expecting nL to do more damage. When aB lost teeth, nL usually lost teeth as well. A couple of times, aB could force nL onto its last tooth/slide section.

sX would shockingly lose two teeth often against this, and it was usually KOed. I believe aB could potentially use recoil against its opponents, but that's just me. sX managed to burst aB (possibly due to aB being hard launched, but this was at the end of the battle right before sX stopped spinning). This scenario happened twice total, but the second time, sX lost all but one tooth. Another time sX won was due to Destroy running out of the stadium. aB even bursted sX once without losing teeth, but sX had already been KOed according to WBO rules on Over Finishes (rebounded from the pocket wall back in).

sX. 1M. X: 2/10

aB had more trouble due to sX having more chances to KO or make contact.It actually rebounded from a pocket wall once, almost too fast for me to notice. But it counted as a win for sX, which still clicked a lot---sometimes onto 2 or 3 teeth! aB may not be as good as dF, but it certainly can be used well. Notably, aB does better softer launched, and even bursted sX without losing more than 1 click twice.

Interestingly, lS had more burst resistance against aB, maybe due to the less recoil-inducing shape, and the greater focus on upper attack and destabilization...lS also had more success, especially in KOing aB.

gZ. 7B. At: 6/10

Even with gZ's faster spin, neither bey lost many clicks (almost never past 1). And despite Destroy's incredible LAD, gZ destroyed it (flame me now). The one occasion gZ did lose 3 clicks was due to a slightly stronger launch than intended, and it was still a tie. Even more shockingly, it was still a tie, a battle gZ could have easily won with a softer launch. Overall, aB's main counter seems to be the king of the Olympians.

aB has such low burst resistance here it isn't even funny. The main reasons nL lost was when I either screwed up the angled launch, or aB dropped straight to the center using the low friction of Br and evaded nL. nL also had a small chance of just losing by stamina. Even then, aB lost two teeth consistently, and dF is still a better choice for Br based combos IMO. Still, nL had a harder time bursting a fast aB than I thought. aB even bursted nL once at the cost of all but one tooth.

This was interesting. Stamina suffered for aB (equalization wasn't possible), but as expected, burst resistance went up. nL actually clicked onto its last tooth/slide section several times, and one clutch battle I cannot tell the outcome of: aB KOs nL, but when I pick it up, it bursts. aB actually bursted nL once as nL flew into a pocket while aB reached its limit of stamina, which was crazy. Then nL bursted a second time, and then its parts hit aB, which bursted a moment after. aB may have hope yet.
