Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST

(Feb. 01, 2012  1:58 AM)Shabalabadoo Wrote: I think one draft per week is perfect. Say she posts 50 posts per day, that'll take her 40 days to get the 2000 more, which is 5/6 weeks, which is obviously 5/6 articles. The past 5/6 articles took about 2/3 months, so it's an improvement, plus 10/12 articles in a month and a bit is far too much to get done properly, let alone give time to sleep. I couldn't think of anything else actually, haha.

Kai-V here's how it's related: you do lots and lots of work for the community, so we put in extra work for the community! Yeah it's the best I could think of, haha.

Does anyone else write a post as a response or whatever, and at the end just say fudge it and don't post it? It's been happening to me so much in the past week, even several times in the past 15 minutes. I swear I almost even did the same thing with this post.

You don't visit plastics land often enough. Some drafts are just writing an AR section. I've written 10-12 articles in 2-3 weeks, and I'm told they're not too shabby.

Seriously, it's like, we don't want to get the plastics side of the wiki together or something? I mean, it's pretty discouraging to editors if there's no feedback at all after a few weeks, and all they can do is sit there and watch their drafts sink into the backlogs. Jus' saying, and this isn't just from me, there are a number of people who have vented about the same. :\

Argh, I should go get some sleep, I'm in a bad mood as it is.
Getting Kei on it is the challenge ...
I know that, but if he can't handle them, surely there is another committee member who is up to the task and is on regularly? I mean, you're a very, very literate lot. I don't mean to offend Kei here, or like, push him out of things, I love him as a committee member, but you know, the site started as beywiki, and having all this stuff just sitting there and nothing happening just seems to me to be against the site. It should be one of our top priorities, and the forum is full of good, solid material just sitting there doing nothing.

I don't want to sound like I'm going off again, I'm not, I'm legitimately concerned about how long it takes for things to happen, and the effect that has on writers. Maybe I am just extremely impatient, but some of these are really simple, just section rewrites, or articles where a single useless part is the only unique feature. This is just from a plastics point of view, MFB still gets some attention (though again, there's not enough in the way of feedback and general activity in that forum), but even then, more could be done (I'm not totally in touch with the MFB side of the beywiki forum, so excuse me if that's a little vague).

Anyway, I really should go sleep. I don't want to create a huge fuss, I just want to see the forum that came from "Beywiki" give Beywiki the treatment it deserves. Smile
So do I. However, it is not just about being literate.

Many times, actually.
Most I'm afraid of a mod warning me, as it's mostly a little joke about the topic at hand.

I need to learn how to hackysack. I know people who play it at school all the time, and it's fun.
Played a little today, during our one hour after finals, before the buses come.
I keep telling everybody : "If you hesitate to post something, ask me about it first, I will tell you if it is OK."

The result : Nobody contacts me.

I do this a lot, but I usually decide not to because what I say might seem invalid from another perspective, or it's just disrespectful and I don't feel like editing it.

Got to try my hand at Jazz today. I did this on my Alto Sax in my Music Theory class. I don't get why everybody thinks improvisational solo's are hard. I found it to be very easy to come up with neat licks on the spot. Smile

Yeah...that happens to me too.
@ Bey-Heart : Yea improvising is really easy. I can do it on my guitar and come up with solo's just like you on the spot. What keys have you improvised on so far? Question: Do sax's use vibrato? The thing closest to Sax i play is clarinet and i haven't gone to high with theory on that.
Wow! Today, I was going to go home and go over my notes for Geography and fix my French assignment, but turns out I put my binder under my chair and accidentally left it there since I was so focused on my test. I then went home to get out my binder and go through my notes and the idea just struck me straight in the head. It was last period and my teacher cleans up the classroom every time at the end of class, so I'm certain that no one took it. Now I have to wake up earlier tomorrow and get it back.

Obviously those kids have not been taught right. Even after they pour all that carp inside it, they still want it?
Ah, improv. It is such fun. I don't have the time to do it (or am allowed to) in Wind Ensemble. And, I don't know too much about saxes, other than they take less effort (wind-wise) than brass instruments (e.g. trumpet). But, I know that you can growl on a sax and not a trumpet. It sounds so good on a nice tenor ...

Also, on the don't post topic, I have done that a lot recently. Save as draft, delete the draft, rewrite the draft, delete the draft, and it goes on.
The moment you download Dwarf Hole onto your iPhone is when you know you're addicted to Minecraft.
Sorry if this belongs in the actual Minecraft thread; I wasn't sure, so I posted it here.

People are scared of you, you know.
Instead of contacting you, they feel safer by staying away from you. XD
And hence, they quit posting or some daredevils continue to SPAM.
Then again, if you were to liberal, you'd expect a 100 (useless) PMs in a day.

Kai-V, Can I ask for combos in Build Me a Combo?
Kai-V, I knw d answr to a queshun askd in Ask a Queshun Get an Anwr. Cn I tell d anwr?
Kai-V, this; Kai-V, that! Wut!?
I would honestly prefer getting my inbox SPAMmed than having to hand out warnings.
Yeah...
But of course, its a fact that others are scared of you.
Probably because you have such intimidating avatars (?)
I remember that I had sent her almost similar PMs and must have totally spammed her inbox too.
I was new to forumboards at that time so i had no idea where to post and what a 'thread' is. I even asked links of things like the rulebook.
And honestly the avatars are not intimidating... I only got scared of her when i realized that she is a female.

It is a very angry-looking avatar.
It's not Kai-V's fault that Ryosuke Miura can look constantly angry as Ankh. And looks so hot doing so. <3
Why would you be scared of her? What did she ever do to you? I honestly find Hazel scarier than Kai-V. He's such an antsy little fellow.

If I were throwing around negative and diminutive descriptions of a Committee Member, I would be a bit scared too...

I'm scared of Arupaeo. Treading on eggshells!

Oh, by the way, what I just typed is banter. I'm abooouuuuttt... 187% sure Zain's post was too?
I deserved that warning, dude. I may have been bantering but I now realise that by calling Hazel an 'antsy little fellow', I was hurting his very soul. My sincerest apologies to anyone who I may have offended with my comment. Hazel, you are neither antsy nor are you little. You are a fellow though. I hope we can all move on from this.

My apologies once again.

Your banter didn't include name calling. There's a difference between expressing an emotion or describing a behavior, and characterizing someone in a negative way.

I agree. There's also a difference in characterizing someone in a negative way, and having a joke with someone. I urge you to roll back a few pages to see that Zain and Hazel have already joked around banterously very recently, which in my eyes has extended on to Zain's comment.
Fair enough, you make a good point. The comment itself still crosses the line in my book, but given the full context I can see how we arrived at this point - and that there wasn't any ill intent.

Zain: I've revoked the warning.
