FEAR strategies are just that - very strategic employment of tricky game mechanics. Fire Pledge, on the other hand, is an absolutely terrible move. If you want to win anything with a Typhlosion, you need to have a very good setup for it, such as Choice Scarf Typhlosion running 252 spa/252spe in the sun with Eruption at full health.
Then, maybe, your Typhlosion will do noteworthy damage.

Trading isn't cheating... it's a legal and fully implemented system. If you're willing to shill out extra money just for more Pokémon options in the beginning, more power to you.
