Heyo guys!

It's been quite a long time since I've been on here. I never had an account back then but it was awesome as a kid to be able to see that there were people in Toronto, Ontario with the same amount of passion for the game as I did. I joined only 1 tournament at Dufferin Park and scored 3rd or 4th. That was about 5 or 6 years ago however and now I'm 18 nearly 19 years old. I'm still a child at heart. Actually probably completely haha. As I join though I just have a couple of questions. I know it might be biased coming from a community who loves the hobby but I'll ask anyway since I've met the mature community.

Questions:

1. Is it worth getting back into? When I invest in something I invest... So I wouldn't want to invest in this and then have it just end up going in the shadows again.

2. How large is the community in Toronto, Ontario (Since my group of friends wouldn't join me)?

3. How often does everyone actually meet and just have fun besides tournaments (as well as tournaments but with less emphasis on them)?

Hey, welcome to the WBO! You actually returned during a good time, as the new series; Beyblade Burst, is pretty new (started less than a year ago).

To answer your questions;

1. To be quite honest; it can get a little pricey. With all the new parts that come out, some are bound to be outclassed. But, it is just like any ther competitive game.

2. The group is a good size, we usually get at least 10 people a tournament.

3. People usually hang out after tournaments. Less money for transport when you can hang out after (and before) tournaments Wink Tournaments also happen biweekly, for the most part.

Hello there! I'm fairly new as well, so welcome.

I know there was a tournament at Anime North in Toronto, but I don't know how often people meet up as I live in Winnipeg.

In terms of getting into Beyblade, there are currently 2 formats that are popular right now. Limited and Burst. Burst is the new generation of Beyblades that were released in Japan and more recently Korea. I have a couple of Beys on order right now, so I'm getting into it. The other format, Limited, uses Metal Fight/Metal Fusion Beyblades, but some of them are banned to promote balance. The newer parts specifically that are way heavier/better than the 2010-2012 er ones.

That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge right now. You can find awesome guides in the Mentor's Circle section of the forum, they're helping me out a lot right now.

10 people per tournament is so low of a number since I'm used to seeing 50+ playing a game called CARDFIGHT!! Vanguard haha but it's better seeing people than none at all!

The price doesn't bother me. Remember, when I invest, I become a child and invest all my money (obviously not you guys get it) :3.

But none the less, usually 1 tournament per week? That's not so bad. I need to find other players to hang out with even when tournys aren't going on haha.

1 other question I forgot to Ask was where do you guys buy your "gear"? The only place I can see that would be decent is the Taka To my website it's self. I don't know if they ship to Canada though.

Beyblade isn't very popular at the moment in North America, but soon it will be Wink Also; tournaments are biweekly; 1 every 2 weeks.

People usually use HLJ (HobbyLinkJapan), Rakuten and WBO sellers such as OkinawamTS and Gankoba.

What Hato said. If you get lucky you can find some decent deals on Amazon.ca, but you'll pay a similar price to Hobby Link Japan and they'll sip to you much more slowly.

EDIT: If you're looking to get into burst, I'd recommend the BB-38 set. It comes with the regulation stadium in white and orange, a string launcher, a beypointer and Victory Valkyrie B.V all for much cheaper than they otherwise would be. The tip on Victory Valkyrie wears out very quickly though, or so I'm told.

Yeah, Beyblade has been in an awkward place for a while since MFB ended in North America; Beyblade Burst is supposed to release globally in 2017, which should definitely help improve tournament turnout.

Welcome to the WBO! Do you remember when exactly that tournament at Dufferin Grove Park happened? In any case, I've attended all of the WBO's Toronto events, so I was most certainly there!

Yeah, for sure. When Beyblade: Metal Fusion was launched by Hasbro (around the time Neceal is talking about for the tournament he attended), we easily pulled in 30+ players quite often, and even 40+ or 50+ sometimes.

Also worth mentioning that this weekend at Anime North we had around 35 players, which is quite good considering the series has not launched here yet.

Hey again everyone!

Thank you all for your reply's! I didn't think this many people would show up in my post. Even though it's not a ton of people it defiantly got me hyped for the game again!

I finished my contract at my last job so once I find another job I will go crazy on Blading again (despite what my "friends" say). A hobby is a hobby and Cardfight Vanguard is becoming a very bland game so yeah.

What series is the most popular right now? Which one should I get into? Legend, Zero G, Burst Etc?

Also do the older launchers from The Zero G and Legend series work with burst beys and and reverse?

Hey again! The only launchers that work with burst are the new ones that come with Burst Beys, sorry to say.

I'm pretty sure Burst is going to be the most popular soon seeing as it's just coming out and all the Beyblade Metal-era stuff has left my local shops. It could always change, but that's my 99% positive prediction.

I know of 1 shop in Toronto that sells Beys but they only sell "booster packs". Usually a Spriggan or Rangeruk.
It's called A & C games for those of you in Toronto. Located on Spadina ave and College street.

I'm not exactly sure but I do know it happened during the summer. I was a very heavy kid at the time and lost a lot of weight since then so I don't think we would remember each other haha.

And that would be great if I could try it out. :3

What time is the tourney gonna be held? I have a friends birthday that day so I would like to plan things out haha.

Yeah, sadly they don't sell any starter sets though. However the best thing about that store is that it restocks on everything and adds more if the products become more popular. They also have the video games. I've added the shop to the map for everyone to see.

Oh one last question I forgot to Ask was if burst beys are just as customizable as MF beys were. That was my favorite part of blading. Haha.

Yep! Even though there are 3 parts instead of 5, it doesn't really affect it that much since the clear wheels and face bolts didn't do much.

I'd say that Burst is both more customizable and less customizable than MFB - you don't have any Metal Faces, Clear Wheels, Crystal Wheels, Synchromes, variable height and gimmicked Tracks, or mode-changing parts; but you can change your Beyblade's weight distribution and shape more independently than in MFB, since the Layer (which determines most of the shape) and Disk (which determines most of the mass) are separate, where Metal Wheels did both.

Overall, I would say it's less customizable than MFB, but there's still plenty of customization options available.
