Meet Taka & Fumi: WBO x Takafumi Adachi original characters

A few months ago, Kai-V and I had a crazy idea. What if we could get Takafumi Adachi, author of the Metal Fight Beyblade series and creator of legendary characters like Ginga Hagane, Ryuuga, and Zero to draw character art for the WBO?

Life lesson: sometimes all you have to do is ask. Takafumi was thrilled at the opportunity to lend us his talent. I collaborated with close friend and artist Valérie Bastille to create character design sheets for Takafumi to base his illustrations off of. Once Takafumi sent us his lineart, she took care of the coloring, too. Check her stuff out!

We named the characters Taka and Fumi very obviously in honour to the immense contributions that Takafumi has made not only here to the WBO, but to the world of Beyblade at large due to his impactful work on Metal Fight Beyblade.

Takafumi’s distinctive way of capturing motion and power make his style a perfect fit for a franchise that’s all about stuff spinning real fast and hitting each other. He was also a true pleasure to work with, a man of extreme kindness and talent.

Taka and Fumi aren’t just “mascots” for us; they’re a representation of the fighting spirits of bladers all over the world, and the core of our visual identity going forward. Expect to see them around a lot, in new cards, stickers, and more. We’re extremely honoured to have received this gift from Takafumi himself.

What do you think of this collaboration? Reply with your thoughts, and feel to share your own art of Taka and Fumi here as well! We also made some wallpapers you can use on your desktop or mobile device!
What an amazing artwork! Absolutely amazing! Congrats on this huge crazy awesome idea, guys!
Wow. I really love this whole concept!
this is absolutely amazing ♡♡♡!!!!
Wow ! Simply AMAZING. Im so happy to see where the WBO is heading in the future
This is absolutely incredible!!! I cannot believe we really have our own WBO characters by the actual MFB mangaka! So amazing, and this new site is beautiful. I love it! So glad I have been able to see the WBO grow for the 7 years I have been on here. Cant wait for the future
This is incredible! It's crazy how the ACTUAL Takafumi drew the official Bladers artwork of the WBO! I'm so glad to be a part of the WBO and that's for eternity! :'] Looking forward for exciting things!
Thanks everyone. Smile It was a really amazing and totally surreal experience. haha
Whenever I'm sad I read the mangas or watch the anime again and again. MFB is part of my life and it's also what made me who I am today. I found so many new friends through it and learned new languages. I learned to speak English by watching the Beyblade Anime and I even reached 100% my final exams. Metal Fight Beyblade was the best thing that has happened in my life so far and that's all because of Takafumi Adachi and Beyblade. Taka and Fumi are awesome and it's amazing that Takafumi Adachi took part in this project. I can't wait to see what else is new and what new things are to come. Smile
Greetings from Germany, TL14
This is insanely awesome. So proud and happy for this community of ours.
These characters are so cool, and it's awesome that the manga artist himself did them. I really like the outline coloured illustrations especially. The designs are interesting, more so than some of the actual anime characters.

Thanks Jinbee. We worked really hard to get the details of the characters right. We obviously wanted it to look very Beyblade-y, but we also wanted to give the designs a more grounded, athletic feel to highlight the real-world element of what the WBO does. Very happy to hear that you like them Smile
What a big collaboration for our community. I would've never expected to have Takafumi Adachi create something for the World Beyblade Organization, but it happened! I'm interested in seeing who the WBO will work with in the future and the characters look well designed.
You guys are amazing, the man himself as well Takafumi Adachi. Great job everyone! I really love the artwork! same for the original artwork as well before Takafumi drew it. Bravo! Here's to the future, our bey spirits will keep burning brightly!
This is actually the coolest thing, but I have an important question: what beys do they use?

They are skilled bladers, so of course they will select their parts depending on the battle at hand.
Wow... This just made the WBO 3 TIMES COOLER!!!
I'm so amazed that Takafumi drew these
I love the new layout, but this is by far my favorite part of this update. What an extraordinary thing for this community to advertise! We've had some pretty epic collaborations in the past, but really is a huge milestone.
Very glad to see original characters for the WBO. The concept is rather brilliant. Will we ever see them in a WBO manga perhaps?
I... can't adequately express how amazing this is.

What an incredible opportunity for the WBO!
Ahh They Look so cool ! Amazing Artwork and the fact that Takafumi Adachi Collaborated with WBO for our Anniversary Makes it more exciting ! That's so awesome. The Designs are very interesting to me and I wonder how much time it would have been taken to get this up hah but its totally worth it !

But what are are the beys in the artwork?

As Brad mentioned, they are generic, customized Beyblades. They are not even supposed to remind you of any generation. Remember how, in Metal Fight Beyblade, we had recolours for all the colours in the rainbow for almost any given part, no matter its type? It is therefore all up to the imagination. All these drawings represent Beyblade The Timeless: from yesterday to tomorrow, for young and old (there is a slight age difference between the two characters hah).
