I don't know how either of these viruses came about, but I don't have any antivirus soo... XD

Anyway its called Personal Antivirus, a pop-up that comes up and pretends your computer is being attacked. You then run the fake scan it provides to try and fix the "threat" The actual virus is the Personal Antivirus Pop up. once you click the fake scan the virus enters your computer.

Also more recently I got the same type of thing, more convincing though. It disguises itself as a Windows XP anti-virus and uses the same look. It was pretty aggressive, it stopped me from opening any applications and going on the internet...But you just have to open with admin XD

Took alot of work to get both those off
I recommended Avast. My norton when out of business and keep bugging me with "Your Norton is out of date. You maybe vulnerable to viruses"
I had 3 pages (this might not have an effect on yours) one of them had you-tube on them and I left it and I keep on doing it, then it lost it's sound, got very slow and the next thing I know it has a worm! ( Not a real worm of course )
Toontown gave me a virus once, too. Unhappy

It is amazing. Anyways, my lap has over 40 Viruses, don't really care. Don't watch TV Tokyo Online thru some website. Trojans, also watch-movies.net is bad.
No, not really. They can remove viruses fine.
And yes, never trust them. Only trough YouTube. Safest way.

Norton Security 360 told me that I had 46 viruses, but then i used Avira AntiVir and Windows Defender and it said i had none......
I use Microsoft Security Essentials. It is waaaaaaaaay less intrusive than AVG, just as good, and my dad who helps sell software uses it. I just know he knows what he is doing, so I trust him.
Microsoft Security Essentials

Done.
There is AVG in every computer in my house and only once has a computer crashed. and it was because AVG ran out. my brother was downloading episodes of Clannad from a website... AnimeEpisodes 247.com... i might be wrong but a few days after that and the computer just gave up, wouldn't boot up and other than that the same computer got a trojan horse from frostwire just a few weeks ago but nobody ever uses that computer so it didn't really bother any of us lol
Webroot is amazing for ambitious people living online.
I'm with you guys. McAfee SUCKS. Like seriously, I have McAfee TOTAL PROTECTION and it let a hacker through to my computer! I scanned while the hacker was hacking my computer (it was telling me to do things and I didn't know what to do O_O) and it said it was fine. Nothing wrong. This marks the day where I hate McAfee forever and ever. I'm gonna go with AVG now.
I have Microsoft Security Essentials on my Computer.

I have had my Computer for nearly 2 years now and only once have I had a serious virus which got tooken care of quite quickly.

So yes it's pretty much awesome, never have I had a problem with it.

Oh my god! This happened to me a few months back! It happened to me on a Monday, I restarted my computer back to Friday. Problem solved.

I need to update N360. Mine expired, so it doesn't detect new viruses... Uncertain

That happened to me. I knew that wasn't what usually happens, and I figured it out right away and closed it.

It scared me though, haha
Hrm, I've had one specific issue where a virus caused my mother's computer to ask for a password, and it wouldn't do anything otherwise. It claims that you buy the password for $500 from some site. Of course, we got a complete reset, and my brothers were banned from playing on it because my older brother goes on some questionable site because he's biased against Youtube. Oh, and my brother's laptop had a virus...that disabled the fan. Scorchin', man. That thing was burning the couch!
i got the worst virus last time
On the computer I am typing on now, I have never had viruses (Kapersky Internet Security) but on my laptop which has McAfee, I have about 23 viruses (most are trojans) which I have gotten rid of but the effects still linger on my laptop.

This is a thread to disscuss about any computer viruses you have had or have, and about any dangerous sites you know of that contain viruses, to help other people reduce thier chances of getting viruses. Here is my stroy: I downloaded Roblox and my sisters computer started to go very slow. I thought it was spyware. Then, when scanning my sister's PC, it crashed and I saw the BSOD9Blue Screen Of Death).
Scary, huh?
So there you go!

P.S. I seached and did not find any threads that are the same/similar.

Though many people believe ROBLOX is a virus-infested download, it is not. Your sister's computer is likely the problem. First, I will believe ROBLOX can slow down a computer, mine has crashed from that because I was stupid enough to put 1 million FlameWalls in my game. Also, you might have been running ROBLOX and some other things on your computer while scanning, and since all of that was happening, it crashed. Second, if you got a virus, it was not from the ROBLOX download, but ROBLOX caused a reaction. You see, there are viruses that 'hide' for lengths of time in your computer and you don't even notice it. Then, when they reach a certain amount of time, or when you download something, they activate themselves, leading you to believe the running program is the problem. These are called Time and Logic bombs.

Go to Staples, they can remove the viruses for a few dollars.
Hmmmm, I guess so. But I checked and she says she never downloaded anything, and goes to the same websites I go to, so I don't know what's up.

Hey, I know about thoughs. I think if you see a pop up, just press crl alt del and restart your computer, and most likely it will be gone. And yes, they are pretty scary!
My last laptop had this wonderful thing called rouge anti-virus software. You suppsedly can get it from anywhere, especialy since my last laptop had very crappy internet security to begin with. It f***s up everything and no matter how many system restores you do, it keeps coming back as a different program. It caused my laptop to crash. Thankfuly i was able to get all my photos off of it.

2 pieces of advice for all of you

1) Internet Explorer + Compaq + 3 year old laptop + crappy internet security = danger (for the record i had been getting rouge anti-virus stuff way before my laptop was 3 yrs old. It used Norton, AVG free, and several periods of nothing. it just got really bad towards the end of its life)

2) If you see something on your computer that you know you never downloaded saying "everything is infected" and $#!+ like that i have just this to say;

Run for your life before you are permenantly screwed
Yes, I know about rouge anti viruses. You can see them by seaching for them on YouTube.
P.S. If someone is trying to hack into your computer, turn of internet.
i got a virus once, this page was asking my brother to download a virus scanner when we already had one, he downloaded it , and it turned out to be the virus but thanks to avg, it was stopped.TIP:if you see a website that pretends to windows and say's you need a virus scanner, then disconnect from the internet immediately so your files do not get sent to the hacker
Yes, exacly what I said. If it says "Please purcase Blahblahblah", DO NOT purcase it! It is a SCAM!

Before Quote: It may seem like ROBLOX, but you can download things even when you don't know it.

Jsc: Those are called ScareWare programs and are very dangerous.
Yes, I know that, but, I mean, how? My computer is fine, so why is her's infected? I mean, we go to the same websites.

Yes, but like those annoying popups, some of them download a file secretly to your computer when you X them out (close the window).
