Aquafina. Does that help, hah ?
Quote:Ingredients: Water Filtered, Flavor(s) Natural, Phosphoric Acid, Citric Acid, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Benzoate, Sucralose, Calcium Disodium EDTA

Most likely culprits are either a strong EDTA or Sodium Benzoate allergy. I've never heard of anyone getting headaches from SHMP, but Benzoate's done it, and it's generally one of the worse food additives.

You could, in theory, cross-reference each of these ingredients individually to see what did it.
So, I've been practicing hand stands. I can't do them long at all, but I do feel an improvement! I feel so much more mobile and in control of my upper body, since it was always just doing funky gymnastic pull ups and stuff.

Anyways, I've realized now that I hate the door frame pull up bars. When I hang, my knees are about 6 inches off the ground and when I go up, it messes up my form a lot. We were thinking about getting a pull up/dip station, but I want to try a few first and make sure I can fully extend my legs on the one we get. We can't get a stud pull up bar for our ceiling because the ceiling has 2x4's, not 2x8's or 2x10's. But at least I'll get a dip station too so I don't have to do dips between couches or chairs anymore, haha.

I also need a full set of dumbells, not just the single pair that you select a weight.

And Vibram FiveFingers, but I think I said that in random thoughts.

I basically have an ideal home gyms in my head, it's just that I'm not the one paying and it's not my house.

Money money money

Super excited for P90X2! My parent's are getting it for my birthday, I can't even wait! I'll be getting the "ultimate kit" which comes with 14 dvd's, a RumbleRoller (a bad carp foam roller), Tony Horton's push up stands (which are very very nice), a premium Stability Ball, and two 8 pound medicine balls. Super cool stuff!

I'm really starting to fall in love with all the calisthenics and gymnastic business. I also want to learn capoeira, but that'll be for later in my life.

Fun stuff! I'm enjoying what I'm doing and learning!
sorry for the dubble post, but I read a really cool study:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22297415

So in understandable terms, 13 people went on a 10-week stretching program, and 12 didn't so the difference could be measured. All the people were doing no other exercise, not even strength training. The 13 people were tested pre and post for their one rep max (1RM) and range of motion (ROM). There was an 8% increase in ROM and their 1RM increased by 29%!

So basically, you can build strength (or at least maintain!) by just stretching if you don't exercise. That's not to say to not exercise, but if you ever are not in the mood to exercise, don't feel bad to stretch!
That's strange, when you stretch just before weightlifting it reduces strength... I guess it had the opposite effect for the people being tested because the article says they were untrained, so it's likely that doing any kind of physical activity would increase their strength.
Yeah exactly, and it appears to all have been static stretching. It was also wierd that only strething the right calf also increased the strength and mobility of the left calf. It is a mystery
Wonder how well they controlled the placebo effect, if that occurred. If not, it could be psychological/involve the brain somehow but yeah.
Today at Safeway I went to get my blood pressure tested in the machine, just for fun.

140/80! It made me mad.

So my brother tried it.

100/75! Argh.

So I tried again.

139/75! I r am is mad. I don't tolerate April fools jokes like these. Serious

But to make myself happier I went home and measured my waist:hip ratio and I got el excellenté range!

Also, I saw this really cool product today, while on the Airmiles website.
It's basically a bad carp TRX.
http://www.rip60.com/
It's basically a TRX, that's less money, actually comes with the part to attach it to the door, and the straps rotate at the top, basically exactly like a pulley.
I saw a similar product a couple weeks ago, wasn't too impressed, and was really impressed with the features and advantages of this over TRX and the other product.

I won't get it just yet (even though I have enough Airmiles) because I'm getting P90X2 in the next couple weeks, and that way my parents won't say I spend all their money and airmiles, haha.
If your blood pressure is running that high normally, you should really calm down, haha. Blood pressure is infinitely more important to your health than waist/hip ratio, and you're Stage 1 Hypertensive with the first one - and not far from it with the second.

As someone who is on blood pressure medication, for running Stage 2 Hypertensive while calm without it, I can honestly say this is not the kind of thing you want to overlook or take lightly.
Haha, I was actually hoping you would share some insight for me. I was skipping and hopping down aisles beforehand, and my uncle and grandma were actually there at the same time too so I was laughing a lot.

I am a very very energetic person, haha.

Next week I'll test It again, since I usually go grocery shopping on Sunday mornings, not Sunday night when my brother says I get most annoying, haha.
Some people do run higher than others, and activity can account for going as far as Stage 2, but it drops pretty quickly once your activity levels are down. Your heartrate is the "divisible factor", here, as it helps determine the overall relevancy of your activity level combined with your systolic/diastolic readout.

The best thing you can do for an accurate readout is sit and breathe, calmly, and regulate your pulse before taking the test - it should take about a minute or two to get back to "normal" rhythm, and that is when you should test it. That readout will be much more relevant to your basic state of being, but do not go Ghandi Metitative over it, as that will manipulate the result into something much lower than your normal state.

Basically, slow down and behave regularly, like you would at any other time just sitting around, for a couple of minutes before testing.
My heart rate during the test said 65 bpm.

I actually did not sit for a couple minutes before placing my arm in. My mom had done it so I wanted to try and went right ahead and did it.

And thanks by the way.
With such a low heartrate, but a high pressure, that is actually a decently bad sign. However, obviously these tests need to be repeated for any basic indication to be made - and in some cases it can even just be shoddy machinery.

If you consistently test high d/s with a low bpm again, you should mention it to your Family Care Physician or whomever, though, for more professional tests. Given how much excercising and activity you do, you do not want to risk running overtly high, as it could have disastrous consequences.

I should mention - as I feel it highly relevant to you - that with such a noteworthy low BPM(seriously, your average should be about 40 higher even at rest), you could have Athletic Bradycardia. You are slightly above the range, but that test was not done "resting", which is what alarms me. The syndrome is more commonly known as "Athletic Heart Syndrome", and I suggest you look into it, and perhaps even purchase home monitoring equipment if you are not ready to seek the expertise of a physician.

Also, keep in mind, that Athletic Bradychardia does not in and of itself often present any physical problems at all for individuals, but it can occasionally mask severe issues, which is why I bring it up.
I have no clue what's wrong with me. I eat a meal in the morning, a meal in the afternoon, and a meal for dinner. Now I don't gain any weight, and I continue to grow taller. I have weak upper body strength, yet I have okay lower body strenght (ran a mile in 9 min). Is that weird, or is this suppose to be happening?
You are eleven and entering puberty, that is completely normal. If you were fat, you normally lose that when you grow up into a teen. And your body needs all you eat just to grow up, which is why you are otherwise not gaining more fat.

As for your muscle balance, the legs are usually stronger than your upper body for sure, so that is normal. They do hold you upright all the time.

To reinforce her point, the average metabolic rate of a child your age - most especially male - can consume two to three times as much food as you likely are, and suffer... no ill effect whatsoever. It is quite a common ordeal, and it is why the ideom "He's a growing boy, he needs his food" exists.

Granted, I am not encouraging you to pig out, but I am openly stating that your metabolism will probably be wicked, if you are indeed "average", for a few more years, especially if you're getting taller.
Well, I don't know what's with me now, that I actually can't eat heavy meals (at any party or feast or whatever) without the consumption of aerated drinks. :\
Doctors advise me to not consume too many of those, as we all know that they are a bit harmful, but if I do not drink it, I can't eat well for a week or so, and probably throw up frequently...
Am I actually addicted to those drinks that I actually can't do well without them?! Chocked_2
Such drinks do not actually conribute to any physical addiction other than perhaps caffeine, but even in that scenario, it's quite uncommon, but I suppose not impossible... there is always the possibility of inability to release gas from the stomach without assistance from them, but again, slim chance. Have you seen a physician about this specifically?
Probably...
According to him, its not as harmful, and has probably been the modern-day trend.
Its not something to worry about, he said. According to him, my ability to digest food is slightly slower than usual, probably because I am usually not used to having large meals, and nothing else. The reason as to why I throw up is because I end up consuming a lot of those drinks on an already full stomach... Eh.... That is all he says...
But still, I really do drink too much of those aerated drinks. :\
Have you seen a doctor yet, Jan? I don't think you should be throwing up or having trouble digesting without fizzy drinks.. I'm a bit of an addict when it comes to those too, but I wouldn't suffer from the withdrawal symptoms you mentioned, I just feel sluggish!

I saw shaba's post about wanting to set his own home gym up, so I thought I'd post pics of mine... prepare to be amazed:

Entrance to the dungeon:

Interior:

Dips/pull up station outside since there was no place in the garage:

I attached that black bin bag so that when I finish working out I can just hook it over the pads and handles when it rains rofl

And here's a couple of pics of my workout companion... he's a bit lazy so I have to push him to work hard!

Um, even I feel sluggish, and then just to make myself feel better, I consume more and more of those drinks, and then I throw up. Moreover-
It usually happens in the morning, when I wake up early after a heavy meal late at night.
According to the doctor, dinners should be light, and as not too late.
Because of the heavy meal, I usually have to skip on breakfast in the morning. And if at all someone forces me to have anything in the morning, then either I throw up, or I have a stomach upset and can't go to school...
: Nice! I wish I had a Gym/Dojo in my back garden...

: That sounds like some sort of ulcer or stomach disorder to me. Definitely not a normal experience. If your current doctor isn't taking it seriously, I would seek a second opinion.
That sounds very much like either some type of Reflux Disease, or an intestinal motility problem.
Definitely agree with Arupaeo here, it sounds like a problem that your doc isn't taking too seriously. It must be making life very uncomfortable for you so you should get it treated ASAP. I'm not sure how similar Pakistan and India's healthcare systems are but whenever something's really wrong with me in Pakistan I'd always get an appointment at the closest hospital, they should be able to diagnose you immediately and start you on a course of medicine right after.

: If you have the money and space, I would DEFINITELY recommend getting your own gym set up at home, it's a big initial cost but has saved me hundreds of pounds in the long run. Plus, you don't have to deal with all the annoying people at gym, the line for the equipment, people working their biceps in the squat rack, fat men walking around naked in the locker room... a home gym is pure heaven! Plus there's no excuse not to work out since it's right in your back garden, helps with the motivation Wink

The fighting dummy's kind of useless though, I'll be honest. He wobbles too much, a few kicks will send him two feet back. That's probably cos I filled the base with water instead of sand... but still!
I doubt it's an ulcer, as one of the first and most prominent presentations of ulcerative activity/infection is a deep, gnawing hunger that will not stop even when you're full, which seems the opposite of what he's describing.

No, rather, what he's describing rings as being almost identical to my situation when I started getting treated for Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease.
