1. Gintama: This is the best anime ever simply because it knows that it's an anime...or at least the manga does. The characters themselves joke about how another character's fight only lasted two pages (In those exact words) and the other one to reply how two pages is pretty long, for a manga.
2. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan: This is a very epic one because all the characters gain ridiculous powers very quickly. It starts up with just one pretty small robot, similar to a gundam, fighting other small robots, but, towards the end of the series, the small robots go into bigger robots who go into even bigger robots who also go in bigger robots who are taller than galaxies! How much more epic can that get? It also have a very good voice cast.
3. Code Geass: As if the interesting story, developped characters and cool fighting scenes weren't enough, this would make it to my number 3 just for the voice cast, 'cause they got EVERYONE that is talented.
4. Bleach: Again an excellent voice cast but also a very good and new story, using the concept of angels and heven in a very different yet imaginative way.
5. Death Note: This is a great anime and it would have made it higher if not for the fact that they kill off the best and most original character (probably one of the best of all time, too) about half-way threw the series. Such stupidity...
There you go, hope I didn't bore too many people
