And the bad names strike again!

Format: The format for this event is Metal Fight Limited, which is a restricted part Metal Fight Beyblade format. Please read the rulebook prior to confirming your attendance to ensure that you or your child have the appropriate equipment to compete. Legal parts / launchers will not be lent out by event staff.

Host: The Supreme One

Location: This event will be held outdoors at MLK Jr. Recreational Park.

Time: As the tournament will start promptly at 4:00pm, please plan to arrive around 3:30pm when registration will begin. Registration will close at 3:50pm. Confirming your attendance on the WBO event page does not substitute for registration at the venue.

Other Information:
Please come prepared. It is helpful for both hosts and judges if all participants bring at least one Takara Tomy or Hasbro-manufactured Beyblade of their own and more than one launcher when possible. Additionally, parents of children under the age of 13 must be present for the duration of the event, as tournament end times can be difficult to estimate, and we would hate for someone to be left behind once it is over.

Be aware of your belongings. We'd advise users to please, please look after your stuff. While yes this is a Beyblade tournament and we're not suggesting that any of us would attempt to take each other's stuff it is still happening at a public venue where other people (who may not be so friendly) are going to be present as well. Of course, if you see a personal belonging lying around bring it up any of the judges so we can return it to the right person. Your co-operation is appreciated!

All players must arrive on-time. The tournament will begin no later than 4:00 PM and is expected to run for about 2 hours, though if there is a large turnout it may take longer. Please plan accordingly. If you do not arrive at the scheduled start time, you risk being excluded from the tournament. The software we use to run our events–Challonge–does not allow us to add in extra participants once the tournament has started.

If you know in advance that you will be late, please post in this thread or contact someone at the event and depending on the circumstances we can perhaps still include you if we know you will arrive soon.

I do remember you trying to change the tournament to P3C1 before we started, but it was advertised as a 3v3 tournament and I was insistent it remain so. As we all know, I really don't like the P3C1 format or find it fun or interesting, so I'm not sure what problem with 3v3 that P3C1 solves. Does 3v3 take a little longer? Sure. But it's more fun to me.

Personally the reason I like P3C1 is because it makes it more knowledge and skill than what the more luck based 3v3 is. In P3C1 I am able to look at the opponents options and see what my best option to counter the most would be. It creates a very deep mindgame on what combo to use. I would probably like 3V3 a little better than I do now (not better than P3C1) if you were able to look at the opponents deck before making your first order.
In P3C1 you can pick/mind game your opponent into a highly undesirable and nearly unwinnable match up, just like you could with single bey.  I mean, you do ultimately still play with one bey each.  Sometimes when you achieve this, very little skill is actually needed for spinning of the tops themselves.  The launching of the tops become mostly a formality, and this isn’t deck match type so it’s just gg after you launch the appropriate # of times.  This is still certainly possible even in MFL.  You can pick your opponent to death in 3on3 too, but it’s just harder to out pick perfectly that many times imo.

I guess to use poker terms, you can have your opponent close to drawing dead in P3C1 right at the beginning.  Imo, it can get to the point of pocket Aces against Pocket Kings odds.  This hands can happen in Hold’em sure, but that is why you play more than one hand right? I guess it is picking skills to straight dominate your opponent with ur pick.  But idk that it is fun or exciting to play once someone is dominated. After all, P3C1 is just the first step of deck match type played to 3 points.  I mean… isn’t there a reason deck match type isn’t just that?
So one thing I have noticed is that people inevitably end up comparing formats to each other. You like this part to that format and that part to this format. The thing is these formats are all meant to be different. There is a reason you get to see your opponent’s deck in P3C1 and you don’t in 3v3.

P3C1 is definitely designed more for the competitive player that has a great amount of knowledge on the different parts of beys and how they interact with each other. Take this tournament for example. Had we chose to change to P3C1 I probably would of went 0-12 because I have no clue how any MFB parts mesh together of even how they work in the BB10. So I would of been at a huge disadvantage even though Geetster99 helped me with some combos. I still would lack the knowledge that someone who has been playing for years has. P3C1 is definitely the format to use for high level events like if it were a regional qualifier or a national event. I dunno just something big.

3v3 is without a doubt the most balanced format when it comes to balancing the gap between new and old players. Yes there is far less knowledge needed to play this format. You could even argue less skill and I wouldn’t contest it. However, it certainly is a lot more fun for all players when you get to play with 3 beys and the match ups can get wonky and fun. I understand the desire of wanting to have knowledge of your opponent’s deck before you make your order, but that really stretches the balance of the format and takes the surprise factor out of the game. 3v3 is definitely the best format to relax and have fun. as well as introduce new players to the competitive world of Beyblade.
