Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST

We read it in school. We went through the symbolism and everything, so I did understand it, it's just that bipedal totalitarian pigs don't really appeal to kids that age XP

Really?

I don't get why teachers would have kids that young read a book intended for adults. Like you said, it'd scare and/or bore them, more than they could appreciate it.

It's funny though, back when Animal Farm was first released, book stores advertised it in the children's section and Orwell personally went to local stores to move the books into the adult section.
I need help on an Animal Farm essay, could someone help me?

Not going to "write if for you", but if you truly need help or pointers, PM me.

I dunno, it might be the whole gifted school thing where "they're mature enough to handle it." I mean sure, but that doesn't mean it's not creepy, haha.
Has anyone handled a S&W M500 magnum revolver before?

(Or at least has handled any fire-arm)

Eh, guns discussion on a message board with mainly a young audience ? Not really.

I've handled a Walther, a Glock, and a Hunting Rifle, haven't had the opportunity to even hold a Revolver though.
I've never understood why people enjoyed shooting guns. It's like, wow, a killing machine. Woohoo. I guess there could be practicality in it, but enjoyment? I don't really get that.
Kai-V: Hope they know to NOT try this outside the shooting range. Besides, we need permits to buy guns don't we? Sorry if this isn't appropriate to discuss.

@Aquamarine: of course this isn't guns for killing people, no way. It's for sport only.

I still have half of that tooth in my mouth. I'll be getting a replacement, that's for sure.
I went to the dentist, and yes, I'll be getting some kind of surgery.

I'll most likely have half of a tooth at Toronto's GBT Qualifiers, but it'll probably be done by Grand Battle Prelude.

Bad news.

I'll be getting the surgery done a day after Grand Battle Encore.

I guess I'll be going to Anime North with a chipped front tooth, aha.
Man, that sucks. At least you're not like me who can't go at all.

Um, I'm Dual, haha. Anyway, that's what I was talking about, how I don't see how it's entertaining.
I don'e really see how guns are entertaining, either. With Nerf, Airsoft, or paintball, you can actually DO things with your gun/blaster (e.g. peppering your friends with foam/plastic/paint), but with real firearms, there's no point other than their one purpose - to cause fatal damage to people and animals. And that doesn't seem particularly entertaining to me Tongue_out
Of course, target shooting's an interesting challenge, but it gets dull pretty fast.
I've never held a gun outside a modded nerf gun, or a ricocheting paintball gun. I'd like to shot a bazooka though, at a shooting range. Pull the trigger and I'll be flying backward from the impact.

Well, I'm sorry for bringing up this discussion with real guns, let's just move to something else.

Dual: Oops, Sorry- I was more used to Aquamarine.
I've only watched 2 episodes of "Another" and I already regret starting this marathon at 9 PM...
Commence preparation for nightmares...
6:16 PM for me. Pacific Time for the win! Anyways I've gotten back into origami, and it relaxes and enrages me at the same time. I'll try to upload pictures soon.
I've been liking National Geographic's "Science Of Stupid" for some time now. Anyone know that show and like it?

Ahah, good for you dude! I had about 1-2 nightmares watching that show. Plus, I watched them really late. If you could, I'd be happy if you could PM your thoughts on it so far. Your the only other guy on here I know who (mite) like it.

OwnageDerp: I tried Origami once, but it failed. Though, my sister seems to be good at it. Are you gonna fold 1000 cranes? It brings you good luck!

I actually finished all the episodes last night lol. And no nightmares for me! ...yet.
Feel free to PM me about it, I really enjoyed it.

Finished reading 1984 and I will say it right now - this isn't the last time I'll be reading this fine piece of literature. The ending, for me, was eerie. I wasn't expecting it but at the same time it was expected.

As for reading it in younger grades - I find Orwell's work to be compelling and even if the symbolism is blatantly explained in class, I think you need to read it at least twice on your own to fully appreciate the book.
1000 cranes? I can barely stand making 5, and those cranes do bring good luck, it's the little things that work wonders.
I'm in a really big dilemma right now guys. So, basically, I have a crush on this one girl. You probably almost know where this is going. I want to tell her how I feel I mean, what could happen? Just do it already! I think to myself. It's just that something is stopping me. I was planning on telling her in person. I would get her alone and tell her. But guess what?! She is sick that day with the stomach flu (apparently it's been going around a lot at my school). At that point I was just screamed "REALLY?! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!" in my head. Thank goodness I didn't scream that out loud. So, that really let me down. I was so ready...That night I decide to text her. But I just CAN'T HIT THE FREAKIN SEND BUTTON! It's like a rush of feelings is just stopping me. Anybody who has had a crush (probably everybody) can back me up on this one. And guess what else? It's almost the end of the school year, I'm in 8th grade, and we are both going to different high schools. If I don't tell her sometime this week or next week...I lose her. Probably won't ever see her again. Or if I do see her, she will most likely be with another guy. I've seen so many leave my school. We are now down to 5 PEOPLE IN OUR CLASS. I am dead serious. Our class is so small that we have to combine classes with the seventh graders. I just can't lose her too...
