Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts

For every series, the Japanese names were pretty cool. Like in Burst, where Hasbro came up with sad names instead of keeping the original

I agree that Metal Fury was the weakest of the three, though it's not really a bad series either. I just liked Metal Fusion and Metal Masters more.

It just had a lot of things that hindered it's pacing issues due to the timeslot being cut in half (which wasn't the series' fault) which meant potential ideas or development were either shortened or scrapped. It's a shame too because it had so much potential and an awesome concept but the Legendary Bladers weren't all that interesting.
The metal fight manga was much more balanced compared to the anime and was generally better.
I didn't really like MFB because the battles were so boring, one bey would start spin with 3% left then the blader would yell the beys name and then Poof 100% again.

Why did the timeslot get cut down to begin with?
The Season bladers were fine, I know people hate Chris but I understand him, the others were just around the board. I liked Yuki but he never got the chance to stand out on his own as a blader and I don't know why the hell the dub didn't call out him using Brave Impact for the first time. Yeah him being in tag duels more was a sign he just wants to unite the bladers, but still. Aguma and King are fine but the latter really needed to have more episodes with his backstory. Tithi's cute.

My overall thoughts on Metal Fury are this.
The Good:
Haha, all the Legendary Bladers who were stamina types before Ryuga died joined Nemesis.
The Sphere 360 duel was surprisingly fun. Toby and Zeo teaming up with Tsubasa and both King & Jigsaw being a red herring was dope.
Kenta, you finally got development ( okay he did in season 1 too)with the wins to back it up!
I’m fine with Chris. I know what its like to work with people on something really hard and have them abandon me when the chips are down. Plus, finally someone decides you can using Blading for money XD.
Gingka being somewhat of a mentor.
Yu came back and Gan Gan Galaxy actually contributed!
They actually killed off Ryuga.
Tobio, Ryutaro, Masamune, Tsubasa, and all the other teams returned. Glad to see Louvuska do something in the Sphere battles.

The Bad:
The wiki keeps forgetting to add Yu in the supporting characters section of Fury.
The Nemesis Bladers were heavily underutilized. Yuki beating Cyncus could’ve had a way bigger impact, and why the heck was Hershel of all people not a legendary blader when he has Uranus!?
And calling Rago the 10th legendary blader was freaking dumb. Its clear they had Neptune in mind but I guess when the time slot changed, they said screw it, instead of the 10 bladers that’ll defeat Nemesis, we’ll make Rago one on a technicality! At least Pluto had an explanation.
Yuki needed more development and got trusted into the background.
Benkei somehow got less to do than in Zero G. Yeah he participated in some battles but still lost to Johannes and didn’t even use Maximum Stampede. I’m shocked Aguma didn’t even call him Kyoya’s follower and even though every other main character except Hikaru evolved as bladers, he didn’t even try to evolve as a character despise being so good in Fusion and Masters.
Johannes needed a backstory.
We could’ve done a bit more with Bao for that matter.
Glad Doji survived, still didn’t do much in the long run.
It was cool we got Ryuto’s brother. Its a shame he didn’t even get to see his own brother!
Jack got nerfed and Daimen never got closure.
There are two games I regret getting for the 3DS. Beyblade Evolution (I still haven’t even gotten the Zero G beys) and Sonic Lost World. Argghh

Plus Metal Fight 4D kinda ripped of G-Revolution with the Main characters gets their friends bey spirt and I would have to watch some because I don’t remember MFB because of how much I disliked it
Metal Fury isn't a bad season in my opinion, it's just average. I hardly find myself rewatching it just because it's kinda dull. There's not really a bad episode, it's just that they're mostly just so so with a few amazing ones. To it's credit the animation is predictably upgraded, or at least it feels that way, with more visual flare on battle and characters seem more fluent and detailed. I think that almost every episode moved the plot somewhat, or at least gave something new, unlike Cho Z where there was too much filler. The characters on the other hand aren't that great. While old characters like Ryuga and especially Kenta got better characterization and development, the others mostly just... existed, I'm talking about you Benkei you useless moron... oh and team Dungeon for that matter. Doji, despite returning does little until taunting Ryuga. As for the new characters, I honestly don't care for most of them so here's my thoughts on them.

Yuki - Yuki was okay, but he needed way more development, he does get legendary powers yeah but it felt way too rushed and after that Yuki is just another team member, that's it.

Johannes - He can be funny at times and he reminds me of Kyle Hakim, but I prefer Kyle Hakim honestly. By the way what a coincidence that it's cats and... dogs(?) for their motifs. Besides that though he's just a minor obstacle the gang beat up often. After his final battle, he jumps away and is never seen again...

Aguma - Besides having a cool special move, Aguma is pretty boring. I think his backstory is pretty cool and it does seem to explain it well. Besides that though I never really cared for him, I don't hate him but I don't think he's great either.

King - King has a pretty cool personality and he kinda sticks out because he isn't dull. He's nothing too original and I find his backstory pretty shallow but I enjoy his character and his cool Super Saiyan hair thing, but Aiga outranks him in that now. Still, I like that he is a chill dude and doesn't really notice or care about his Legend Blader nonsense and just wants to have fun.

Ryuto - He's Ryuga's brother but never interacts with him, ever. To be honest he's probably one of the more forgettable characters ever, he rarely appears and he isn't that interesting. They never do anything with the whole Ryuga brother thing.

Dynamis - He's the leader of the Solar System bladers and seems to speak in a pretty formal manner, but he really is just an exposition fountain and he's so boring. His evil dark side is kinda cool but it's nothing much honestly.

Chris - I don't really like him, he's not that interesting, his backstory is okay but is it really enough for him to join the dark side? I feel like the only reason he has fans is because of his insanely popular beyblade Phantom Orion.

Titi - He can be fun and wacky. I like that he's a shy kid despite being a legend blader, and he is adorable. He's also a really competent, in fact he's never lost a fight, well okay Rago eliminated him but since he was fighting alongside Ginga, it was a team effort win. He needed more battles though. His backstory is unfortunately weak though, and he feels tacked on.

Hershel, Keyser and Cygnus - Yeah... they kinda suck. I grouped them all into one because they serve a similarly small role despite being hyped up. Their personalities are nothing special, just pawns for Rago really.

Pluto - He just reminds me of Doji, and he looked pretty mysterious and menacing under that coat and shades but in reality he looks goofy IMHO. Besides that I don't notice him.

Rago - Well I'm glad they gave us someone who was able to beat Ryuga, in fact Rago is probably one of, if not the most powerful character in all of Beyblade so far. I like his menacing presence. He could be more fleshed out though, and I wish he had a better design haha.

So yeah that's all the major new characters I can think of. Metal Fury has a few nice new characters but most just end up pretty dull. If I had to place Metal Fury somewhere, it would be tied with V-Force and Zero G, but below anything else besides Chousetzu. Which is odd since it was one of my favourite toylines in Beyblade, the Takara Tomy one of course.

I wouldn't say it was a rip off as it was necessary and fits Ginga's entire blader spirit and friendship shtick. This also seems like a staple final battle thing for some animes, where friendship and bonds and spirits beats the big bad.
In metal fury the fact that Yuki never got a 4D bey was just underwhelming to be honest.

I don't think I've ever said I hated the Legendary Bladers, I just find most of them a bit disappointing. One really wasted opportunity IMO was not making the Solar System Legendary Bladers contrast from their legendary ancestors by having a more modern fashion sense and fitting with modern society. Like with Yuki, he's an astronomer which was something that differentiated him from his ancestor and made him fit in the modern world. Why couldn't the rest feel like that? They blended in too much with their ancestors and didn't feel... believable, even for MFB. Am I crazy? Maybe Tongue_out

Here are my thoughts on the Legendary Bladers (excluding reccuring characters):

Xf was a pretty good performance tip but the wheel was not too popular and was certainly not 4D. The tip was not a 4D driver either.

Metal Masters
Burst God/Metal Fusion
Burst
Zero G/V-Force/4D
Chouzetsu
Any of the spin offs

In fact I liked Kenta so much here that I was wishing Bursts underdog characters got the same treatment but they don't. It has a bit more good episodes than 4D, but I find that It also has more episodes than 4D that I dislike. I really just wasn't a fan of the story besides the Psykick arc and Zeo. The characters, the new ones I mean, were okay for the most part except for Hilary, but they're mostly just there. I mean really, who remembers Joseph? Or the owner of Blizzard Orthros, or any of the scientists lab rats besides Wyatt (poor Wyatt btw :( ). Their World Championship was so freaking lame, it was so small and felt more tacked on, it looked more local for crying out loud and I wasn't a fan of them using bit beasts as a plot constantly. I think it was by far the weakest of the original trilogy and a lot of people seem to agree on that.

Or the owner of Blizzard Orthros, or any of the scientists lab rats besides Wyatt (poor Wyatt btw Unhappy ). Their World Championship was so freaking lame, it was so small and felt more tacked on, it looked more local for crying out loud and I wasn't a fan of them using bit beasts as a plot constantly. I think it was by far the weakest of the original trilogy and a lot of people seem to agree on that.

V-Force also has the absolute worst episode in any of the Beyblade series IMO...
V force was the bad egg in the otherwise incredible original series.the whole series was pointless and boring to me.
G revolution was the complete opposite of v force
The best Beyblade series by a mile

This is probably not a popular opinion but it's episode 20, "The Power Half Hour". Just everything about the episode pissed me off (something no episode of Beyblade has done), all the characters were really unlikable, it has a hypocritical message about not modifying your beys and was just so inconsistent. There was nothing good about it.

I'd take any 4D, Zero-G or BeyRaiderz episodes over this one which is saying a lot.

You couldn't point a worse episode of Beyblade than this for me, if you tried.

I agree. Something (perhaps everything) about that episode made me want to facepalm. Especially trying to catch up on the original while watching Burst. But Im not trying to be rude at all; the original is quite great

I'm a huge fan of the Original Series too but V-Force is the one I'd rather dismiss. It has some good episodes, it has some downright terrible episodes (like the one I mentioned).
This might be really dumb and random, but do you guys have any Beyblade headcanons? It could be as small as imagining Blader’s routine, or coming up with a complete and plausible backstory for someone. Or you know, Beyblade logic
