Standard Format/Zero-G Format
Hey guys! Who's ready for another tournament?
I'd just like to request that attendees confirm only for the formats they will be playing in, as we've had trouble before with confirmed attendees leaving before a second format begins on occasions when we're holding multiple events, and the result was a lack of attendance and the event was canceled.
What's the difference between each format, you ask? Well, read this thread for information on Standard format, and this thread for information on Zero-G format.
Also, remember, if you confirm, you must come and play! Don't confirm if you won't be there for sure!
Durant Nature Park is located off of Durant Rd about half way between Capital Blvd (North of I-540) and Falls of Neuse Rd. From the parking lot, you will walk down a short gravel trail towards the lake (follow Playground/Restroom/Picnic Area signs). We will try to get the "Sweetgum Shelter", but if it is already taken just check the other nearby tables. The park is family and pet friendly, with nearby trails, fields, restrooms, and a playground. There is no electrical access, though, so be sure all devices are fully charged.
We expect to be done with both formats by around 5:00 P.M. (unless we get 12 + people, in which case we could easily be done by as soon as 3:00 - 3:30 P.M.).
Judges will be myself, Thunder Dome, and anyone else certified who'd like to volunteer!
ATTENTION: This is of the utmost importance. If you do not own a Blader Passport, you must pay a mandatory 5 dollar entrance fee (or you can purchase a passport, details here) to enter this tournament. If you don't pay, you can't play.

Actually checked my schedule, Im working that weekend. Sorry. I don't get off until 145pm.
Carp.
Ouch this event is going downhill fast. Hopefully we can still pull out enough although round robins are pretty dull. Also I'll be able to bring a stadium to this event because it doesn't appear like we'll have many.
It might be fun just to have some friendly matches even if it doesn't happen though.

I hope you guys make enough.
Try to get some chum of yours to come anyways.

New to the Organization! But planning on attending with 2 more! Haven't assisted a tournament for a while!! What are the requirements? Like hms? Old version g-revolution blades? Shogun steel? Thanks!
Okay this event we are doing Standard and Zero G. That means in standard all Metal Fight/Fusion/Masters/Fury/Shogun Steel are legal and we will be playing in the BB-10 Attack stadium. In Zero G you can use all of the same parts that I listed before, but we will be playing in a Zero G Attack Stadium.
It would also be good if the two others made accounts as they will need some come tome of the tournament. If you have any other questions I'll be glad to answer them through PM.

If a tournament would start at 315pm or so I could make that one. I get off at 1445pm. And its an hour or so drive. So ya..
Well, I guess we could wait for you if we end late. I can communicate with you via PM during Standard.
I hope you can make it for the F230 party, haha.
I have a question, guys - what say we hold the Zero-G tournament as a non-WBO sanctioned event? As in, one that doesn't end up getting processed?
The only reason I'm hesitant to undertake something like this is fear of losing Beypoints to a slew of F230 combinations, so if we eliminated that problem everyone could spam it all they want without freaking out/feeling guilty/getting blown out of the rankings. Then we can submit the results with a tournament report to provide the information we're trying to get out of this.
Whaddaya say? Even if we don't get the required number of players, we can still do full RR if we aren't playing for points/credits/faces.

I really think we need to have a competitive situation with points on the line. The main reason is people won't think or play their best if it's not for points.
Also why are you worried about using F230? If its as "broken" and "overpowered" as you say I should use no problem plowing through the competition.
Plus the only people who have decent F230's that are attending this event is you and samurai Tite so you should have no problem.

1. Seriously this whole F230 thing is getting a bit out of hand. Let it go...
Zero G can be fun. Honestly I think its been blown out of proportion.
2. IF we aren't playing for points I wouldn't be there unless it was plastics or HMS. I can't justify driving that far for no points on the line. Just saying.

I agree with this 100%. 10/10. Good read.

Not true. That's making a broad generalization. If we explain that the tournament is an important experiment, I think the few players attending would understand completely.

Exactly. Why not just SPAM it all the way through?
Because V wants us to try and counter it. Now, I personally am not too keen on trying to take F230 down without using it myself. TBH, with only a 50% chance of getting the spin direction right against F230, an even smaller chance of actually getting your counter to work, and an even smaller chance of succeeding against anything else competitive, going for the 50% shot with another F230 combinations is really a safer option TBH. That said, if we put points on the line, don't expect to see anyone who owns F230 actually attempting to counter it successfully.
If you want us to simulate a truly competitive atmosphere, don't expect to get anything out of the tournament but more evidence that the part is broken.

This is a bit of a problem for me. I personally am not comfortable at all with using F230 combos competitively for any purpose other than to counter another F230 custom. It gives me a bit of a sick feeling, like I robbed the other player of points or something (I'm not saying that's the case, but I personally just hate using it). If we took points out of the picture, I'd be much more willing to actually use it, which would help the results of the experiment.

What do you mean out of hand? This "test tournament" wasn't my idea. I'm not letting anything go. I stand by my opinion that a ban on this part would be monumentally beneficial for the Zero-G metagame, and I have seen absolutely 0 sufficient evidence that suggests otherwise.
Zero-G can be extremely fun, I absolutely agree. Like the tournament we had a few weekends ago. You know why that was so fun? Because we all avoided using F230. It was great.
But that isn't always the case. Remember those tournaments we had last summer? Where F230 won 5 tournaments in a row and went completely undefeated? That was kind of a drag.
When we voluntarily remove F230 from the picture, Zero-G tournaments become very competitive and entertaining. I'm just saying that such removal should be mandatory, since there are players who don't comply with such agreements, and their actions can cause chaos in a given metagame, as has been demonstrated very clearly before.
I was just suggesting that we remove points from the picture, because if we don't, as I stated above, I don't think anyone will 1) allow other players to use their F230 Tracks to give everyone equal opportunity, or 2) actually try to use a non-F230 counter if F230 is available to them.
I mean, come on, be honest: would you rather be the guy using F230 or the guy who has to deal with it?
I didn't expect anyone to agree. It was just a suggestion. I guess we'll just play for points. Spamming F230 is gonna wrench my gut, but what must be done must be done.
If I'm not playing for points id intentionally use troll like combos. Dark wolf bd145 gcf would make a debut then. So not playing for points defeats the purpose entirely. I n don't play half serious ifnpoints arent on the line.
