Welcome Bladers of the East Coast! Raleigh North Carolina has been one of the most active tournament scenes in the world, but now, it's on a downhill slope. So, Team GT is hosting Raleigh - Revival - Taking Back the City! Our goal for this tournament will be attendance-based! We're shooting for the goal of 30 competitors! We're taking back the city, with a Beyblade revival!

To help us accomplish this goal, we're going to need Bladers from across the southern East Coast! We'll be giving away prizes for whichever Beyblader can bring the most people to this event! The prize will remain a secret until the winner is determined! Bring whoever you can get (and make sure they're all registered!).

We only have space for around 40 players maximum, so if you want to come, confirm fast! If you're bringing people with you, make sure you specify how many you're bringing!

For any Blader to come, whether they are active or coming with a friend, if they want to confirm, they must have absolute 100% assurance that they will, beyond a shadow of a doubt, be able to make it (barring serious injury or other unforeseen events)! They also MUST be registered before they confirm!

Neither Game Theory nor the World Beyblade Organization will take responsibility for any damaged, lost, or stolen property.
If anyone is caught stealing/intentionally destroying property, they will be asked to leave the tournament. Anyone caught stealing will be permanently banned from the World Beyblade Organization.

It's also very, very important that you remember the $5 entrance fee. If you don't pay the fee, unless you have a passport you cannot play.

Prizes:

1st place - Limited Edition Gravity Perseus S130MB Silver White Version

2nd place -Limited Edition Burning Claw Fang Leone W105R2F

3rd place - Limited Edition Divine Chimera TR145FB

Wow! What great prizes to play for! I hope this will be motivation for players to come compete with us.

What time is it? - Registration will begin at 11:00 A.M., and the tournament itself will begin at 12:00 P.M., on January 18th, 2014.

Where is it? - Game Theory - Pleasant Valley Promenade, 6260 Glenwood Ave, Suite 109, Raleigh, NC

What format is it? - For this special event, we'll be doing two tournaments back to back! Our first tournament will be Standard Format, and our second, starting immediately after, will be the new Limited Format!

Standard format will be our main event. Due to cost issues, there will not be prizes given out for Limited format, but faces, beypoints and credits are plenty to compete for!

Congrats TBD. Who won 2nd and 3rd at the limited tournament?
Alright, I'm home.

Well, the results for Limited format!

1st: TheBlackDragon (MF-F/H Earth Pegasis II 85CS, MF-H Lightning L-Drago TR145/CH120R2F, MF-H Duo Pegasis II 230MB, Scythe Pegasis II 230CS, MF-H Gravity Perseus (Stamina ver.) F230CF)

Yes, I used Gravity F230. XD I was in the middle of a stalling clause, and Dark called 30 seconds and it was the only thing I had built, so I had to go with it. I only used it once, though.

2nd: BladerLight (Lightning L-Drago TR145R2F, Meteo L-Drago B : D)

He used plenty of other stuff, but I can't remember exactly what. I know he didn't use Gravity, though.

3rd: Wombat (MF-H Bakushin Leone 90RSF, MF-H Lightning L-Drago TR145R2F)

He also used a couple other things, but I'm not totally sure what. Positive there was no Gravity.

All in all, today was an awesome day. Both events were absolutely fantastic... Gravity F230 actually only won twice today. Lightning Attack was all over the place, and it kinda took a dive (plus, we actually found out that Burn 85MF can take it out).

I'd also like to note that there are no conventional Gravity Attack/Stamina customs in the winning combos. Called it...

And I went 2-0 against Geester! CHEW ON THAT MARYLAND!! Tongue_out
But isn't Gravity Perseus illegal? It is in the new ban list Lips_sealed
EDIT: Nevermind. Congrats to the placers!
Congrats to the placers.
I also used a MF-L Burn Cancer 90MF, and a MSF Dark Knight Wyvang DF105LRF, although Wyvang didn't win any battles. My goal was to place without using Gravity and it looks like that went pretty well. Despite the numbers Scythe keeps putting up in testing I didn't see too many and never fought one.

EDIT: tried to correct a typo but my phone keeps screwing with my post.

Someone better have caught this on video.

Also, the lack of Gravity, was that due to people not using it in response to the debate over banning it, or did it legitimately just not do well/work well in the meta?

Wombat: Yeah, Scythe is good generally speaking, but the whole mold thing means its power really varies so good ones are quite rare, and as far as I know no one at this tournament had the mold that's a real problem. More spammable combos probably would've struggled in this meta though I think Scythe Defense would probably have done a really good job against most of it (though I haven't tried it v that lightning combo yet so not 100% sure)
Don't worry there's a video lol.
I think it was more of a agreement between most of the people to not spam Gravity than anything else. Like it's kind of a courtesy thing not to use "cheap tactics", if that's understandable. Most people had a good F230 so it was kind of like an agreement not to use that in standard.
Excellent.

Ah, that's a shame, I was kinda hoping it just simply didn't work or something along those lines. That said, you guys all have my sincere respect for that sort of good sportsmanship and sense of community spirit. It makes me very glad to see that people have that sense of honesty and fairness, especially in such a competitive area.

This just got real Lips_sealed

Congrats to the limited placers! And everybody that did their best!
Did anybody find a reviser genbul sa165 bwd I just got home and I couldn't find it in all my stuff
Probably better to just assume someone took it by accident, in case someone gets scared off returning it to you for fear of being suspected of dishonesty/theft etc :V

I hope you get it back, (yeah I know this is none of my business but figured the advice might help).
In the case of Gravity, IIRC Wombat was the only one trying to win without it.

I just didn't use it because I thought all my other options were better. The meta here is actually pretty Attack heavy, and most of us were using semi-aggressive combos, so any time someone threw a Gravity spin-equalizer out there it got absolutely trashed.

MSF-H Bakushin Leone 90RSF KOed the carp out of Gravity Stamina ver. B : D.

Plus, the newbs who never go online stopped using it as well. One of them did, but that's because Gravity Perseus is the only Beyblade he owns. XD I honestly think the reason they used it last time was because they mimicked Thunder, Angry and I, who were all just spamming it for fun because we weren't playing for points.

It really isn't all that amazing to be honest. Plus, while playing in this tournament, I realized there's one thing that Gravity can't do. CS-based Balance. I was using Earth 85CS all over this place, and it worked amazing. I beat a lightning Attack type with it, a Wyvang LTAC, and a Bakushin defender all without breaking a sweat.

I really like it. But, the point is, I honestly believe that, while Gravity can perform amazingly in most respects, there's usually something specialized that will work better. Just my opinion.

But yah. Gravity kinda got wrecked today. XD
EDIT: I just found my bey it fell out of my box while in the trunk lol
You may have beaten a Maryland member, TBD, but in the case of a particular VA blader...
Grin
Yesterday was very fun. Nice to see regular NC players, VA players and MD players. BB-10 was fun and exciting. I went to get pizza and come back to see limited was already started. Didn't do to well in that one. I was fine because atleast I won the main tournament. I believe everything ended around 7 PM. Overall it's fun and I hope we can have more good turn outs now.

I love the rivalry between VA and NC Smile. Congrats to everyone who placed and good job to anyone who participated!
Who wants to see the video of me getting pied in the face? Go like this post to see the video. Once we hit 20 likes the video will be made public.
I've liked it! Hopefully it will get posted publicly soon.
AWESOME!!!

That was the highlight of the tournament right there. Thanks to everybody who played or helped organize this event, and congratulations to the placers!

This was the coolest thing I've done in a really long while. Smile
How many people did you end up gathering then ?
