Questions about the WBO

Pretty sure it is, a mod might decide to take it down, might not.
Before I actually get to my question, i do want to address a few things said before hand and welcome brad ( I know of character) for actually lifting it and yes I've received warnings before and the week I was banned I did indeed deserve it, not gonna lie. Also to kai-V for taking note of the situation as well, it was very, very appreciated <3 , though once again. I know to the both of you this is rapidly, rapidly uncomfortable to see since lol Ineverusuallydothis.

And ya know, in other words thanks and what not, especially to you Kai-V for understanding the avatar ordeal.

Anyway my ACTUAL QUESTION!

Considering the donations to the wbo, is there a set limit of how much someone is allowed to donate? I ask specifically since some sites have these limitations (Some stop at 5 bucks others at 500 for example), just curious before i make my move.

No problem, hah ?

I almost think we should place some limit because a few people are seriously way too generous, but technically there is none right now.

Ah, thank you for the answer <3

Much appreciated, now I can donate soon to my hearts content!
Cool, I look forward to it; after all, any amount is appreciated hah.
No worries Meta. Glad you're happy with how we handled the situation Smile

Yes, there is no donation limit. We've never run into an issue where someone donated too much and it caused an issue for them/their family, but I'd like to think that we'd handle such a situation responsibly.

Would there be a chance of moving Plastics and HMS to the front page in its own subforum?
I'm still butthurt about that "and 1 more" thing.

I know it's a while with this post but I second it.
It's a technical limitation of our platform, which I think we've said before? It's something that can be fixed with some work but we have a lot of other stuff to do first :')
Well, hey, it's fine. Thanks for listening.
Are members allowed to do video testing? I mean, like test the Beys and stuff on camera? Has anyone actually done that? Seems like it could be useful...
Not sure why you'd think it wouldn't be allowed, but I don't think anyone has ever done it.
Video testing is often times recommended in situations where the test results seem unlikely, and iirc it has been done. It is basically used for proof purposes in most situations.
this isnt a what can/cant i do question, but here goes.

Bey Brad and/or Kai-V, how much time, on average, do you spend on the WBO each day?
While obviously taking my huge absence into account ...

And here's Kai-V:

i hope so, but i have no idea.

a few questions for a staff member...

1. what does it take to become staff?
2. how does one get their name italicized?
3. Have you ever thought of introducing clans/groups into the WBO? like, teams that can be registered, with their own forums, etc...

Typically, people are surprised to be offered positions on the Committee! That's because we don't accept any applications, and people who request to join the WBO Committee are always rejected. We look for people who are doing outstanding work in the community and, if there's something the WBO needs that they'd be a great fit for, we'll ask them to join us.

We don't just add whoever we think is "good enough," either, since it would suck to bring a bunch of people on and have nothing for them to do. So normally new staff members come in response to our problem we're having or an opportunity we think would be great to explore.

One example: bringing on Mitsu to help us with social media. He was incredibly active in the community, extremely eloquent, a very talented photographer, and highly knowledgable of Beyblade (his testing threads!). This made him an obvious choice to bring on for this specific role. (To clarify, Mitsu isn't a Committee member, but he does a great job.)

I know there are at least a few members in the community who've made it their goal to become Committee members, but I'd honestly advise against it. We don't invite people to the Committee solely to acknowledge their contributions; if we added every exemplary member, the Committee would be gigantic. There are just so many incredible members here that we could never invite them all.

If you do feel like we could do a better job acknowledging the contributions of others – including yourself – please send me a message, because it's something I'm sincerely interested in talking about.

Everyone who has their name italicized is a part of the Mentor usergroup.

For one to potentially become a mentor, you would definitely need to be consistently active and clearly have knowledge on the game and is willing to contribute testings. Not only that, but more importantly, you clearly are respectful to others on the forum. One thing I learnt was to never ask for such a position, even if you're just playing around (sorry @[Kei], hahahaha). To be honest, as much as I thought I was previous years, I think I really only earned Mentor status very recently.

I'm not a Committee member, so I can't necessarily say exactly what it takes to become one. However, getting involved with the community (being active, engaging productively in discussions throughout the forums, and becoming well-known among other members) would be a great start. Contributing by hosting tournaments, working on projects for the WBO and Beywiki, and testing parts and combos are also great ways to get involved.

The italics indicate that a member is a Mentor - someone who has extensive knowledge of Beyblade. You don't have to know everything about everything to be a Mentor; for example, I know a lot about Standard and Limited, but little about other generations of Beyblade. If you're really into MFB, keep learning about it and asking questions, and you'll soon find that you will be the one answering questions. If you're interested in Burst, plastics, or HMS, do the same for those formats. It takes a while to become a Mentor, and the status itself doesn't mean a lot - you don't need fancy italics to be a knowledgeable and respected member. Focus more on enjoying what you're doing as opposed to the status it will get you.

As for clans or teams, and particularly subforums for those groups, private discussion amongst team members is strongly discouraged. What I mean here isn't "you can't send PMs to each other or make your own threads" so much as "don't split discussions off of the main thread". Discussion in team threads is supposed to be for team matters only - any other discussion should be in the main thread that it belongs in. If every team subforum has its own "Build me a combo" thread, or "Random Thoughts" thread, it kills the discussion in the main threads, because fewer people are using it. Developing and testing combos in secret is also discouraged - it's OK to do it by yourself, but using the WBO's site and services to withhold information from the community is not acceptable. The WBO exists to share and spread Beyblade knowledge, not to hide it to gain an advantage in tournaments. It's best if discussion stays centralized, and not split up over several subforums.
Cake, that's not what I meant. For my first two questions, I was just curious. For my third question, I was asking if any team function might be added, sort of like groups or clans on sites like roblox. I hope I didn't sound like I was trying to split the wbo up into mini ones. Smile

Haha, okay, I was just a little confused by what you meant with "have their own forums". There are plenty of team threads out there, and I'm sure you could start one up if you wanted to. There's even a team format, IIRC, though it doesn't see a lot of activity.
The rest of the boards feel different, even when I can't see the banner. Did all of the buttons and bars get an update, or was it just the reply buttons?
