Important Information:
1. Tournament Registration begins at 11:30am.
Please plan to arrive at Kings Games before registration starts. The later you arrive, the longer it will take to start the tournament.
2. The Tournament begins at 12:00pm.
You will not be able to register after 12:00pm. Even if you are joined to this tournament on this thread, if you are not registered by 12:00pm or arrive after 12:00pm we will be unable to fit you into the bracket.
Tournament System:
Depending on the number of participants we will use one of the following systems to run the first stage of this tournament:
Swiss (17 - 32 Players):
Bladers play 5 rounds. After the first round, bladers are paired based on their match history. Bladers with the highest records face each other, then the second-highest, etc. The top eight players advance to the final stage.
Double Elimination (33+ Players):
In Double Elimination, there are two brackets: the Winners Bracket and Losers Bracket. After losing once, Bladers are sent to the Losers Bracket. If they lose for a second time, they are eliminated from the event. Once both brackets have been completed, the top eight players (top four from the Winners Bracket, top four from the Losers Bracket) advance to the final stage.
Participant Cap:
Due to safety and the fact that there is another event being held at KG, this tournament will have a 60 PARTICIPANT CAP. Please join soon if you would like to participate. Joining secures you a spot on the participant list down below!

Yeah, I agree. While having a tournament 2 states away on the same day is not expressly prohibited, it is still considered not good. Especially if the states are close enough that some bladers will have to choose which one to attend. Less of an issue this time since you're capped at 24 MrBlade, but, seriously, Lazer, be kind to your neighboring state organizers!
NewRoc is HERE!
aww yeahhh another tournament

Isn't there a rule that you have to have permission from the other Organizer before putting your tournament up?

The exact distance is actually kind of vague. In the US, it seems like one per state per day (at the same time, after each other is probably fine). This one's technically far enough away from PA. Technically. But it has led to a situation where bladers have to choose between 1 of 2 tournaments.
"Date Conflicts
Organizers may not host an event within the same week as another Organizer in the same region (“region” defined as state/province or city depending on the circumstances) that is already hosting an approved event without their written approval in the event proposal for their secondary event."

Frankly, I don't see what's awkward about this situtation. I do my best to host tournaments on a regular basis (1-2 times a month). That has been the cadence since I started organizing in May. New York now has a regular/ consistent tournament scene and it's my job to keep that up as an organizer.
To quote a previous conversation I had with MrBlade before you guys posted your thoughts on this tournament thread:
"To give you more insight as to why the date for Prime Apocalypse NOW is the 10th, it is simply due to my own availability along with the dates KG made available to me. I have reached out to KG to see if there is a possibility of flexibility, but I can't guarantee the dates will change.
While our two venues are relatively close, the majority of my attendees are Native New Yorkers who take public transportation or live a comfortable distance from the venues. Those from PA and NJ that have attended in the past are eager to attend tournaments in the NJ-PA area. I don't think, with about 3 weeks out, you will find a shortage of bladers for your tourney.
As you can most likely tell, my intention isn't to draw away bladers from you tournament, but to keep the NYC tournament community going. I have consistent attendees that do expect to have tournaments going regularaly. The only way I can healthily do that is by hosting when my busy work schedule affords me the time."
Why this conversation is happening on my tournament thread and involving other, unrelated, parties is beyond me.
What I do know is that I am 100% happy with the fact the tournament scene is thriving and bladers have options for tournament to attend based on what is convenient for them.
If anyone would like to continue this conversation, I would be happy to chat over PM's. I don't quite think this is the appropriate space for this conversation.
