Performance Tip/Driver - Atomic

Quote:Atomic is a Performance Tip released as part of the Burst System. It debuted with the release of the B-80 Random Booster Tornado Wyvern .4G.At on April 29, 2017.

==Description==
Atomic features a free rotating ball tip, akin to its predecessor Orbit, surrounded by a four tabbed, free rotating ring. Unlike Orbit, the ball of Atomic is approximately 3.4 times larger in volume or 1.3 times wider in diameter, in theory, the wider tip would increase a Beyblade's Knock-Out defense by having greater surface area and friction, however, in practice the free rotating nature of the ball nullifies most of the Tip's Knock-Out resistance.

The greater surface area creates a semi-aggressive movement pattern early in the battle, bringing the Beyblade close to the Tornado Ridge. Due to the aforementioned weaker Knock-Out resistance, any Beyblade using this tip will become very easy to Knock-Out.

Like other ball based defensive Performance Tips, the tabs around Atomic are meant to act as brakes against Knock-Outs at the cost of stamina by striking against the stadium floor. However, the Larger diameter makes such contact rare.

While these features create poor defensive performance, Atomic's true worth lies within and against spin equalization combinations:
The free rotating nature allows a Beyblade to equalize spin with its opposite spinning opponent easier
The roaming caused by the wide diameter can allow a Beyblade to stall against a weak launched spin equalization combination and out spin it
The free rotating ring increases Life-After-Death allowing a spin equalization combination to outspin its opponent.

==Use in Spin Equalization Customizations==
Atomic can be used in the Spin Equalization Customization Drain Fafnir Polish/Yell(?)/Spread(?) Atomic. The rubber coated Drain Fafnir Layer improves Atomic's spin equalization properties and the Polish/Yell(?)/Spread(?) improves Atomic's Life-After-Death allowing the combination to out spin most opponents.

==Overall==
Atomic's defensive properties are outclassed by other Performance Tips such as Defense, however it's excellent abilities in both Spin Equalization Combinations and Spin Equalization Counters makes Atomic a welcome addition to any blader's collection.

made some edits.
Defence and Revolve doesn't really have any more defence then Atomic but I think Orbit should be what exceeds it in pure defence. Atomic also features ability to destablize opponents using its semi agressive movement pattern and sometime "intercept" attack types with its movement and make em lose flower pattern or KO em (which can go against it as well. If you launch it too fast, attack user can just stall very fast and push you out).
I don't think 8 should be on the combo list. I hear 7 outclasses it in every way.

4 also outclasses 8 too, as well as 7 and 5.
I don't know about the current draft. I want to redo it since Atomic is just that good at Defense and Stamina. If it had weak KO resistance it wouldn't be so prominently used, Defense would be. If it had lower stamina, Orbit and Revolve would be used more

Unlike Orbit, the ball of Atomic is approximately 3.4 times larger in volume or 1.3 times wider in diameter, in theory, the wider tip would increase a Beyblade's Knock-Out defense by having greater surface area and friction, however, in practice the free rotating nature of the ball reduces most of the Knock-Out resistance given by the surface area of the ball. Like other ball based defensive Performance Tips, the tabs around Atomic are meant to act as brakes against Knock-Outs at the cost of stamina by striking against the stadium floor, however, the larger diameter makes such contact rare. If hard launched, the greater surface area creates a semi-aggressive movement pattern early in the battle, bringing the Beyblade close to the Tornado Ridge.

While these features may imply that an Atomic combination would be easy to Knock-Out, in reality the heavy weight of Switch-Strike/God Layers, Core Disks and Atomic's own weight compensates for the rotating ball. Furthermore, the free rotating tip increasing the Burst resistance of an Atomic combination, however, Atomic's spring lock is noticeably weaker than Orbit's, making Atomic lag behind its predecessor in terms of Burst resistance.

In addition to the Defensive properties, Atomic features high Stamina and spin-equalization potential as well as the free rotating nature reduces friction with the stadium floor, the wide ball tip keeps a combination stable and thus prevents scraping and the free spinning ring increases procession time and Life-After-Death.

==Use in Defense Combinations==
Atomic can be used in the Defense combination (MGC) Alter Chronos (Stamina Mode) 0/2/4/5/7 Glaive/Cross/Star Atomic. The heavy weight of 0/2/4/5/7 adds Knock-Out resistance and Stamina to the combination while the Alter Chronos Layer reduces recoil. Atomic bolsters the Stamina of the 0/2/4/5/7 Disk, bolsters the Life-After-Death of Glaive/Cross/Star and bolsters the Burst resistance of Alter Chronos. These factors allow the combination to resists Knock-Outs and Bursts and out spin the opponent.

==Use in Stamina Combinations==
Atomic can be put to use in the Stamina combination (A Mold God Chip) Guardian Kerbeus/Deep Chaos 0/2/4/5/7 Glaive/Cross/Star Atomic. The heavy weight of 0/2/4/5/7 adds Knock-Out resistance to and bolsters the Stamina of the combination. Atomic further bolsters the Stamina of the Guardian Kerbeus/Deep Chaos Layer and 0/2/4/5/7 Disk, bolsters the Life-After-Death of Glaive/Cross/Star and adds the Burst resistance to the combination. These factors allow the combination to resist Knock-Outs and Bursts and out spin the opponent.

==Use in Attack Combinations==
Atomic can be put to use in the Stationary Attack combination (MGC) Sieg Xcalibur/Twin Nemesis (Upper Attack Mode) 0/2/4/5/7 Glaive/Cross/Star Atomic. The heavy weight of Sieg Xcalibur and Core Disk adds Knock-Out resistance and the weight distribution of Twin Nemesis and Core Disk adds Stamina. Atomic further bolsters the Stamina of the Twin Nemesis and 0/2/4/5/7 Disk, bolsters the Life-After-Death of Glaive/Cross/Star and adds Burst resistance to the combination and the aggressive movement early in battle bolsters Attack potential. These factors allow the combination to Burst or out spin the opponent.

==Use in Spin Equalization Combinations==
Atomic can be put to use in the Spin Equalization combination (A Mold God Chip) Drain Fafnir Polish/0/2/4/5/7 Glaive/Cross/Star Atomic. The heavy weight of the 0/2/4/5/7 Disk bolsters Knock-Out resistance to and bolsters the Stamina of the combination while the left spin nature of the Drain Fafnir Layer reduces recoil. Atomic further bolsters the Stamina of the Layer and 0/2/4/5/7 Disk, bolsters the Life-After-Death of Glaive/Cross/Star/Polish, bolsters the spin equalization potential of Drain Fafnir and further bolsters Burst resistance. These factors allow the combination to equalize spin with and out spin a right spin opponent.

==Overall==
Overall, Atomic features high Knock-Out resistance when paired with Core Disks and high Stamina and Life-After-Death when paired with Frames such as Glaive and Cross. While Orbit may have higher Burst resistance due to Atomic's slightly weaker spring lock, Atomic is nonetheless a key part of today's metagame for any type of combination and as such is a must have for competitive bladers.

Yea but its less than glaive suppose if a df atomic combo has star and opponent atomic combo has glaive then dF is more likely to lose whereas if dF has glaive too then there are  more chances of a draw
also add bump to attack and defense combos

From what TrainiacJ and others observed:

Cross > Star > Glaive apparently for LAD

I was kinda shocked, but it seems to be decently true.

Yeah, Glaive is really smooth but there are points where it gets caught and just slides instead of rolls
what about legend spriggan for the stationary attack combo (I don't have atomic yet but once the utra transformation set gets delivered to my door I will definitely test out lS on atomic)

Legend Spriggan is HORRIBLE for Stationary Attack
is it because of the highly aggressive shape compared to other attack layers like Twin Nemesis and Sieg Xcalibur

also if glaive had less lad than other frames then why was it so popular the winning combos almost always had glaive

It works better in Left spin where impacts prevents if from getting stuck. I think it's used more simply because of word of mouth "Glaive has amazing LAD on Drain Fafnir" and like a game of telephone, certain details starts getting lost.
