General Health Thread

i used to run for like 6 hours a week for abs too..hahah it didn't really pay off.

i think its because i go off and on with exercising and never give myself time to fully develop.

my diet is fine - i rarely eat junk/fast food, whole wheat instead of white, ect.

part of it could definitely be genetics, too. some people can easily gain the muscle mass there, while others cannot. i don't really know what else to say.
It's more than just eating "well." Your diet needs to be rather specific.

eating well in the sense that it is a lean diet with a full variety of fruits, vegetables, lean meats (chicken, tuna etc) and whole wheats and avoiding fast food/junk food/soda

Your absolutely right. You can do all the sit ups you like, without a proper low fat diet it will be hard to have defined abs. The best way to get abs is in the kitchen not the gym.
Im teribble in eating healthy, simply cause my matabolism is as fast as it gets. and non-healthy food is a lot less expensive then heathy food.

ill hate the day my matabolism dies, no practice in eating 'healthy' or resisting food at all :\
Well i've found a routine I like, that completely burns my stomach by the end.
iIm just going to do it a few times a week and come nice weather, do a lot of cardio.

anyways abs aren't the only muscle on my body.
after talking with my bio teacher (lol) i think i'm going to buy some protein shake to build muscle.
any recommendations?

My recommendation would be to stay away from those, unless you have to bulk up. My view is that you should be able to reach an optimal physique on a proper diet (results that are natural to your body). As we saw in G's case, supplemental protein does not always have the intended effect.

On a side note, since we are posting topless shots, why don't I join the fray. This is not my prime, and I have started a program to get me back to where I was in September. I ain't no G, but it sure as hell beats where I was 2 years ago.

Yeah, don't haha. I'd just get protein naturally from foods if I were you, but then again it could work. Depends on how much of a workout you do.

Mm, I was wondering why it changed from bare chests to protein drinks......but it seems it's back again. Joyful_3

If your looking for the powder you want to go with Whey Protein. If your looking for premade shakes try muscle milk. Honestly drinking protein after you work out does wonders. Not only do you get bigger faster, but it speeds up the healing process dramatically.

I dont know why everyones hating on drinking protein? Its very healthy. Anyone who works out regularly will tell you to drink protein.

If your skinny, with protien and daily short workouts, you can build a nice body in 6 months.
Ive been drinking it after all my workouts for the past 3 months and its been great. I dont get sore anymore at all. Heres a recent picture since its a picture party now. Not a full body shot but you get an idea.

Abs are the hardest thing to get, but aside from your diet, it also depends on the workout for sure. Form is the most important part. You can do sit-ups all day, but if your form is off, it does nothing. Also, cardio is necessary as well.

What I usually do is a circuit. Without stopping, try starting with 25 crunches, 20 seconds of rapid bicycles, ten slow leg lifts, and hold a fully extended arm-plank for one minute. Do this four times in a row without a break. You'll feel like you're dying at first, but it works out pretty well.

edit: also, posture. no slouching.
Clearly it is only Britain that lacks a large number of fit guys. =_=

We have our fair share of unfit people here in Canada (I was one of them). It just so happens that many of us are dashingly good looking.XD

Ugh, I've been feeling like a pasty white kid again. I've not been working out enough, which is likely the reason why I've doing horrible in net lately (hockey). I've got no endurance. It's always been a problem with me, but now it's becoming a big problem. I used to be able to go for each period, after the break, but now I feel exhausted by the third period, and allow a lot of easy goals. Ugh.

Side Note, my hockey team did not qualify for our playoffs this season, the first time in like 8 years. Considering my part in the team, I feel bad.

All the more incentive to start now; so that you are prepared for next season. Tongue_out
bumping this up because i'm currently in a state of euphoria (runner's high)

ahhh this feeling ruuuuules
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaang

Arms are looking nice, too, Michael.
no matter what i eat i just can't gain weight- while this high metabolism effect what diet i need to get super sexy abs?

not exactly a body pic, but here's the closest thing i've got:

since i'm bending like that it must effect the actual display of the stomach region, so take this with a bit of salt.

also since then (which was around last august), my arms have gotten slightly bigger. however, i think i lost the tone that i had and am now working my way up to get it back.
People with higher metabolic rates are actually the kinds of people that make the best body builders, and have the potential to gain more mass than the rest of us.

Diet still matters, but you need a great deal of protein rich foods, otherwise your muscles will starve.
