[Fan Fiction]  The Final Threshold

The Final Threshold

Welcome all. This is a one-shot fanfic of my take on the Legend's Festival Finals.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Titan Spryzen and Valiant Valtryek came to a stop mid stadium. Shu and Valt picked up their beys from the practice stadium. The creak in his muscles, the tightness of his arm joints: they all spoke to the hours they'd spent in the training room.

"You can do this, Valt. You're ready."

"I know this has been hardest on you. Lane was your…"

Shu lowered his head. "I didn't want it to come to this." He met Valt's gaze once more. "But it has to be done. Take him down for our style of blading, Valt."

Valt smirked. "Count on it."

They clinked their bey's together.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Lane launched Lacernus into the stadium. It rested in the center.

"Legends. There will be no legends by the time I'm done. Lui Shirosagi, Aiger Akabane, Free De La Hoya. Finally, the prize, Valt Aoi."

Lane's eyes flashed purple.

"Your mine."

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"Welcome one and all to the finals of the Legends Festival. In the blue corner, the Legend of Legends, the Wonder Boy, Valt Aoi and In the red corner, a blader of the new generation who's torn through many a powerful blader, Lane Valhalla."

The crowds cheered as Valt and Lane strode to the stadium. From where Valt stood across from him, the wisps of violet energy swirling around Lane spoke loud and clear. It told Valt all he needed to know. His eyes narrowed.

You're dangerous.

Lane pinned him with his gaze. "Valt Aoi. I will crush you."

Valt clenched his fists. "We're giving this everything we've got. Isn't that right, Valtryek?" A speck of blue light glinted off Valtryek.

"This will be a first to two-point match. Positions."

Valt and Lane readied their launch stances.

"Ready. Set! 3.2.1! Let it rip!"

“Valiant Valtryek and Variant Lacernus roar into the stadium!”

Lacernus glided to the center.

"Head-on, Valtryek." Valtryek dashed down the slope of the stadium.

"You won't be able to lay a blade on my Bey."

Valtryek collided with Lacernus' spinning wall. Sparks flew as slowly, but surely, the barrier dented. Before long, Valtryek's ring glowed bright yellow.

"That's the way, Valtryek."

It bounded off Lacernus, zipped up the stadium slope, and hit the stadium edge. Its ring shone brilliant gold.

"Valiant Winged Launch."

It barreled down to Lacernus and bounded off its barrier and back into the wall. Valtryek pummeled Lacernus as it bounded back and forth off its barrier and the stadium. With each strike, the wall dented an inch further. Sparks flew. The sound of the clashing beys filled the arena.

Valtryek crashed into Lacernus. It slid backward toward the stadium edge. Lane gritted his teeth.

"Enough! Variant Wall!"

Amethyst light filled the stadium. The light faded, and both beys went flying through the air. They landed with a clink onto the floor.

Valt's palms dripped with sweat as the ref consulted the replay video above. After a few minutes of wading through the quiet, the ref spoke.

"Variant Lacernus with a ring-out finish. One point to Lane Valhalla."

Lane smirked. "This is where the Legend of Legends falls. Free De La Hoya. Aiger Akabane. Lui Shirousagi. They all fell to Lacernus and me. Accept your role."

"This battle isn't over, and I'm not out yet."

His gaze fell to Valtryek. It glinted blue, and all of Valt's surrounding shifted cobalt-speckled white.

Valtryek's avatar stood before him in the void. Its eyes flashed gold.

"I know. I trust you, partner."

The void melted away to the familiar surroundings of the arena. Valt smirked.

"Let's do this thing."

"Ready, and set! 3.2.1. Let it rip!"

Valtryek raced across the stadium edge. Lacernus came up behind it and slammed Valtryek into the wall as they glided.

"This is where I end you. Variant Press!"

Lacernus' barrier shone bright purple and smashed Valtryek harder into the wall.

A bead of sweat rolled down the side of Valt's face as the sound of scraping hung over him.

"Not over. Now, Valtryek!"

Valtryek's ring flashed gold, and Lacernus bounded off Valtryek.

"Its over."

Lacernus sped up the slope.

"Now, Valtryek." Valtryek bolted down the stadium aglow in yellow light. "Valiant Whip." Valytrek's three blades shone bright blue.

"Variant Wall."

They collided. Valtryek inched the wall back. It dented further and further. A pinpoint of white light exploded between the two beys, and they flew backward into the craters. They sped up.

"Valytrek!" Blue light swirled around Valt.

"Lacernus!" Purple light spooled around Lane.

Both beys shot out and charged down the stadium slope.

"Finish this with Valiant Sword."

"End him with Variant Wall."

A massive column of light erupted on impact. A mix of blue and violet sparks shot out. Valt's heart thumped against his chest as the light filled his vision. A bey flew into the air.

It burst.

The light faded as the pieces fell to the stadium floor with a clink.

The stadium lay blanketed in silence. Valt couldn't hear a single sound save the drumbeat of his heart in his ears and his ragged breaths.

The ref raised his hand.

"Valiant Valtryek with a burst finish. With a score of 2-1, the winner and champion of the Legends Festival is Valt Aoi."

The stadium erupted in applause.

Lane slammed his fists onto the ground. He pinned Valt with his gaze. "This isn't over."

"We will always fight to protect our way of blading. It can be your way too."

Lane rose and strode to the arena lift without a word.

Valt turned to the crowd as they cheered his name.

If I were writing it, it would perhaps go something like this. I hope you enjoyed my take on the Legend's Festival finals. I may expand it to some post festival events.
Nice! I really like this thread. I’ll read your threshold story for sure

I appreciate that. Thanks.
Question: would you have Aiga beat Lane, and then Aiga vs Valt?

I'd probably keep it like this, but for the sake of a Valt vs Aiger rematch I'd sure be tempted to change it lol.

Thanks a bunch. I appreciate that. Had they went this route everyone would have been happy.

Lacernus is taken from the latin word Lacertus which means power.
