2005 is indeed when the plastic era ended, but I wouldn't have thought the WBO could keep Beyblade alive through 2005 and 2006 when it didn't exist, that's all.
In all cases, the WBO does do remarkably well with the franchise, and I don't think Hasbro, nor Takara-Tomy and SonoKong would do as well if it wasn't running. If Hasbro want to keep Beyblade as an evergreen franchise, I do believe fansites will be the main encouragement, and fan tournaments, such as the ones that the WBO host, will continue as always to be the main reason to purchase a Beyblade.
