Where the Wild Things Are.
One of the most genuinely beautiful, heartwarming, exhilarating films I've seen in a really long time.
The film is a detailed take on what it is to be a child, a reflection on the consequences of our actions, of the parts of ourselves.
With each of the Wild Things reflecting an aspect of Max's personality, the group of varied characters must learn to grow, and realize their own flaws to seek the happiness that they believe Max can give them, while Max himself has to grow by seeing these flawed parts of himself.
The beautiful cinematography and stunning level of detail really is something to behold, and Spike Jonez has realized a set of brilliantly real characters.
A truly amazing soundtrack written by Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's), and Carter Burwell set a brilliant pace to the film with a mix of orchestral scores and blazing indie rock, that somehow blend together a lot better than they actually should.
Be warned though, you'll be pulling out tissues at the end (Rocky cried, and I've got to admit, I was pretty close.)
The voice acting is exceptional, especially James Gandolfini (Sopranos), but the real breakthrough here is by Max Records.
For someone so young, the emotional range he shows here is something really spectacular.

If you only see one film this year, this should be it.

Wow, it's that good!

I was thinking of just watching it online, but since I've been hearing so many good things about it, I'll get the DVD.

I guess I might have to go see this now.
Yeah Khel, if you can hit it up in Imax. It should still be playing on a few screens, but hurry up, as whatever screens it's still on will probably be gone by Avatar on Friday.
12 Angry Men

That was just a classic. It was probably shot on a very little budget, too. For a movie to be that good by using so little money (340 000 bucks, which I guess was a lot, in 1957) and that, today, we have those huge box office movies with enormous budgets that aren't nearly as good as this.

Well, just my opinion, anyway.
I watched 8 crazy nights today
The Secret Lives Of Altar Boys

Really cool independant movie that aired on CTV at 3AM. Stars a young Emile Hirsh (Speed Racer, Milk, etc.) and a Caulkin brother. It's a coming of age story based in the 70's.
Night at the museum battle of the smithsonian

I didn't like everyone's accents, that's just stupid. But I guess it was, at least, entertaining.

You live in Florida? (I live a half hour to the museum of Discovery and Science in Ft. Lauderdale, where there's an Imax theater. Correct me if I'm wrong about the one I'm talking about.) I love the flight simulators there, but they're always crowded, most of them are always broken (Windows XP can't do EVERYTHING y'know), and most of all, Google Earth's flight simulator is so much better. I'm on it right now! Smile Take that, $2 admission!

EDIT: Sorry about getting off-topic. Unhappy

As I said, you really should.
It's a really nice break from the slew of garbage we've had at cinemas over recent months.

It had a nice set up, but it was a pretty poorly executed film.
Just felt really cobbled together :\
Has anyone seen that new Disney movie...huh...The Princess And The Frog or juste plan to see it? Looks pretty bad, but I've seen a lot of good reviews.

What about it looks bad?
I'm not a big fan of comic relief bugs with big shiny butts...

Or comic relief alligators, for that matter.

I could be totally wrong, though, maybe it's the movie of the year, which would explain the glorious reviews I've seen...
Elf. Getting into the Christmas mood now! Smile
The Blind Side.

Really nice. Smile
