I also got a wristband. It is so cheap of them to give that as a prize.
It's awful to hear how much discrepancy there was today with how many prizes (if any) were given to winners. It's unacceptable that the winners of certain tournaments didn't even go home with a single Beyblade, even if there was only a few people signed up. :\
Ok so heres my toys r us tourny experience-
The people there were scout25, two 8 year olds, two 14 year olds, and me. I won every tournament (we did three) and scout25 and i won the tag team tournament. The only real competition was one of the eight year olds with basalt horogium, earth eagle, and hades kerbecs. The two 14 year olds had no idea what they were doing, they kept talking bout hades' three wings doing better without bd145 in the way and that round tip are better than diamond tips? I was using phantom fox 145wd (most of my parts are in storage Unhappy) so one of the guys bought a screw fox and battled me with it thinking that he was as good as me now. Anyway, i got some pretty decent prizes. I got three two packs, but split two of them with scout25 (youre welcome scout25) and gave one if them to sme five year old who had like one bey. They couldnt sell the stadiums cuz they were used so they gave one to me. I also told everyone there about the WBO. All in all, definitely worth my time. I mean, whats better than free beyblades? Besides free tt beyblades...
Edit: looking at the rest of the thread, that stinks. I feel really bad for the people who had to deal with beyblade demos and wristband prizes. I fel sorta guilty to have all this free stuff and some people didnt even get to battle. Oh and i see scout25 beat me to it.

Personally, there is something much worse than the discrepancy between the prizes, because at least they are gifts : the huge discrepancy between the tournament setting. Here is actually a whole list of what the official Beyblade and Toys "R" Us companies did wrong only for this single day :
  • The events in the United States Toys "R" Us were announced way too late : only two days before. It is absolutely impossible to expect any parent to change their plans for a weekend at the last minute like that. If you look, everyone who posted in this topic to inform us that their Toys "R" Us barely had any Bladers are all from the United States, with one or two exceptions perhaps. The Canadian events were all advertised in the weekly flyers, which totally helped. However, come Thursday, there is simply no way to get a new flyer sent in to everybody's house in the United States ...
  • The age limit seems to have been either disregarded, or at least officially different between the two countries, which is horribly unfair.
  • Of course, the Toys "R" Us employees still seem to have received no formation at all, on anything regarding Beyblade, but also not on anything regarding tournament formats ...
  • Apparently the selection of Beybaldes that could be used, if there was some form of "event", was also not just Metal Fury. Or, at least, no such thing was mentioned for the United States events.
  • The actual Metal Fury selection probably varied from store to store anyway ...
  • As was mentioned, the range of prizes was basically arbitrary and unfair.

And probably a few more things that I cannot phrase at the moment ... All things we do not do at our tournaments anyway.
Yes, I can't believe how unorganized everything was. I had been to a previous tournament at the same Toys "R" Us last year so I sort of knew what to expect. Luckily for us, the employee "reffing" the tournament had been at the last one and we had taught her a thing or two. So she had an idea of what she was doing. Honestly, I have no idea what hasbro is thinking here. If word gets around on how unorganized and in some cases, non-existent (beyblade demos) these tournaments were, no ones gonna go. Not that it will affect Hasbro very much.
Only one other person was at mine, but to be honest, I'd rather battle with him then do the tournament.

Hah, you were exited for nothing. How'd you do?
So today I went to a TRU with Ninjaman60 at about 1. NO ONE was there. There was a Cosmic Pegasus and Hades Gate Stadium, 2 Spiral Herculeos, 2 Hades Gils, 2 Vulcan Horuseuses and 2 Bakushin Susanows. It was really awkward when the guy just stood there while we battled each other, looking at his watch. He actually said that it wasn't a tournament, while these coupon/flyers saying that very thing sat right in front of him. It only got decent when we started making Vulcan 90R2Fs and stuff, out of the Beys, but it still sucked because those stadium were horrible and attacks types just couldn't win. I think the guy actually said that one of the stadiums was bad, and he actually sold one of them to this guy with two boys. Many people and kids walked by and didn't start battling, like we hoped they might. And that TRU's Bey collection was terrible, so I didn't buy any. The only good one they had was the Legendary Bladers 3 Pack, but it was nearly $40. We both didn't really like it. The only thing good about this thing was that that guy made like $10, and now I know to avoid those stadiums at all costs.

Seriously, Hasbro, have it at Target next time. They'll do things right.
I FORGOT TO METION THEY LET ME USE MY SYNCHROMS(srry bout caps)
i was like i wish i could use this bey and he asked y not i said Bcuz it wont be released for a year
he was like well its not a formal tourny so he said go ahead i was like cash cow explosion

What can you do? She wanted her brother to win. No problem with that... Heh.

Warning: Possibly Long story below...
Man, this is the second time I couldn't go. The localist TRU to me is super far, they should have had them at target or something because I only live like 10 minutes away from one. Oh well but bummer about some of your experiences. At least some of you got free beyblades.
Omg it was so sad of a day at the store I work at. It shouldn't even be classified as an event. Putting up some Hasbro stadiums on a table, opening a couple of Metal Fury 2 packs(which were actually new) and handing out coupons and wristbands isn't an event. There were at least 6-8 kids there and two that actually stayed for the whole thing. on top of that they wouldnt let them take anything we opened home because their going to save them for the next one..

In the end you said they were going to save them for the next one. Do you have any idea when that is?I
I had no idea about this one since it was just announced recently, maybe it's good I didn't go after hearing all the bad stuff about it

Technically, I beat him, but at the end we both got the prizes since there was no one there.
Honestly, I am a bit disappointed that they announced it so late. If I'd known there were going to be tournaments in the US & that I could have participated despite being years over the age limit, I'd definitely have gone & gotten people I know to go as well.
I forgot to mention in mine, there were only about 7 kids and I was the oldest one there. They left in less than an hour because, the man in charge said we couldn't use our own beys and it wasn't like anything the website said. Our choices were either Forbidden Striker or L Drago Destructor. The whole 2 hours I was basically the only one left besides the guy in charge.

I was sorta hoping more bladers would come, but actually my mom was my ride and she wasn't coming till 2pm.
At my local TRU, a total of five other people showed up, including Guitar Wolf, who came with me. There wasn't really any organized event, just free-play to promote the Metal Fury line. The Hades Gate and the new Pegasus stadium were set up, and a couple of Face-Off sets opened for kids to use. You could use whatever you brought with you, and there was no age limit. I'd say everyone had a pretty good time, even the employees!

For the most part, I helped some kids with customizing, gave some general tips, and taught the employees a little about the game. The employees at the event were actually pretty cool, ha ha. I taught the guy who was in charge of the tournament how to properly assemble his Bey and kind of helped him run the show. Other employees came by throughout the event and joined in on the fun. One of them even played Beyblade back in the plastic days, though, I'm not too sure if he still has any of his.

During part of the event, I told a couple of the moms there and their kids about the WBO, tournaments, credits and the rewards, and signed up two of the kids. They all liked the idea of well-organized bimonthly tournaments with prizes. The moms and their kids mentioned that several of their friends who play Beyblade as well could not make it to the TRU event that day, but would definitely be interested in any WBO event nearby. I mentioned a little bit about Zero-G, but I figured it'd be better to explain at a tournament.

At the end, two Face-Off sets remained unopened, miscellaneous parts lay strewn across the table which we played on, an inch-tall stack of coupons sat untaken, and Guitar Wolf's lemonade soda was drunk. The man who was running the event took a Bey home for his son, the other employee who played Beyblade during the plastics era ran off with a Meteo L-Drago and some parts to make his own Bey, and I got a ripcord-launcher, a tool, a Twisted Befall BD145, and an unopened bag of Beyblade wristbands.

Okay ... how in the world did you manage that, haha xD But they're really not appealing in the least, so, um free rubber!

Its kinda sad, in my opinion that people are saying that they helped the employees run the event and taught them how to blade XD
I had no idea there were ever red ones! Those weren't handed out last year. xD

But the people work at a toy store. They don't have to know what they're selling, they just have to sell it. lol
It was no trouble. Smile

Well, these grey ones really went all out with the "Beybladebattles.com" cos on the red ones, the site url was a bit inconspicuous and not really standing out like that. Plus, the red ones were just way cooler, imo with the Beyblade text.
