That's ridiculous. I don't see how people would buy that. the person who bought it must've been on some good dope lol.

Once you hit the bid button on eBay if you win the deal you "MUST" pay for the item.
Not really, there have been ALOT of times where people have not payed, you just get a bad feeback if you do not pay
Indeed, if seller set up "buy it now" option and click "buyer had to pay immediately" then no matter who buy this needed to pay immediately nor get this item.

But for bidding, unfortunately, there are many cased that someone just bid it w/o paying...
Is there any way to reduce the shipping price of some items? I don't want to pay $20 on shipping! $5 is okay, but not $20.
Some sellers allow discounts when you buy in bulk but that's about it. It's a price you need to pay. |:
You'd have to send an email to the seller over ebay. Some may lower the price, but it is doubtful. lol, posted as the same time as blah.

One last thing, I think it was ultrablader that told me this, but it is cheaper for the seller to add some cost to the shipping of an item rather then the sale price. I'm not sure how it works exactly, but that is because I have no experience selling over eBay.

But it seems to make sense, as there are a lot of rare beys that have a cheap sale price...but with a shipping price of around $50US. I think it might have to with the the percentage the eBay charges for putting sale items on the website? That'd just be a guess though.

thanks. The only thing that bothers me is WHY did they have to make the shipping cost $20 as opposed to $5.
The reason shipping is high is normally cause it will include some of the cost of the item. So the shipping is not gonna decrease by much normally. It costs more to list an item with a high price for the item but there is no higher costs if you put most of the cost in the shipping. If they don't do this it will cost you more.

Well you see, ebay takes a fee away from you depending on how much you sold the item for.
Lets say you sold the item for £/$100 plus £/$5 for shipping. Ebay will take 10% of this. (10% is just for arguments sake) So you will be left with £/$90 plus £/$5 for the postage.
Where as if you sold the item for £/$50 and the postage was for £/$55, ebay would only be able to take £/$5.
So the total for the seller would be more profitable if the postage is high.
Where as the seller would lose out if he did it the other way around.
Lots of sellers do this.
