Its not JUST for the tourny. The 40 bucks gives you entery to the Anime North Convention. this is where all the anime episodes, some screening, cosplayers. The Tournament is just one of the MANY attractions inside AN.

Yeah, she's just that good. I checked out the registration section of the AN website and it says online registration is over. So now if I decide to go, any idea what the the lines will be like to get a ticket?

eye bleedingly long. Some years it isn't too bad, but I would recommend showing up super early. The last thing you want is to be trapped in the mid-day sun for an hour+ trying to get tickets.

The events themselves are free, but gaining admission to the convention as a whole is not. If everything was free, how would they raise money for Sick Kid's!

No. Like previous years, we'll probably be in the lobby of the Doubletree on Friday for a bit battling. I'm also going to see if a few people can set up Beyblade Battle Stations at various points around the convention (like last year) to promote the tournament.
